We just saw it tonight with our 3.5 year old and her 3 year old buddy. Both kids liked it, though the younger one was scared of the rock monster things. My daughter was enthralled. It was her first movie.
It’s so interesting how our reactions to Kristoff’s song are so different from the actors’ reactions. I think the stylistic choice was all wrong if they wanted to say something with it. My only lasting impression was how cheesy it was, in large part because of the parody visuals.
I still maintain that they didn’t really know what to with him in the movie since he’s a supporting character without the “funny sidekick” thing.

My kids and I loved the songs. Even the Kristoff one.
It was definitely way darker then I thought it would be.
I saw it with 30 kids 8 and under in a private showing for a birthday party yesterday. Needless to say, we are going to go see it again bc the kids took the whole ‘we can do whatever we want bc it’s a private showing’ to a new level 😂 so I could barely Hear at times

I was just coming to post this too. After reading it, I can definitely appreciate his storyline a little more, but totally agree that the visuals were off and just left me with the feeling of 'wow that was cheesy and had nothing to do with the movie' for his song.
But my daughter has been listening to the soundtrack pretty constantly, and this morning she wanted to skip his song, and ds asked her not to because it's his favorite. That made me smile and appreciate it even more.

I’d like to take my DD, but at 2.5 I know she won’t sit through it. I can’t get her to sit for more than maybe five minutes at home for anything on the tv.
I have a day off in a couple weeks and I may go see it by myself, lol. I did that with the first one - MH was working late one night and I was bored at home so I spontaneously went to the theater on my own.
His big ballad is about how he’s wrapped his identity around her and then later on he’s all “I’m ok, I’m secure with our relationship dynamic?” It doesn’t add up. I appreciate that they made a conscious decision with his character but I wanted more I guess. He needs his own thing I think. More Kristoff, less Olaf. But, I realize I’m not the primary demographic here, lol.
bowies I totally agree with you. The song seemed at odds with his character for the rest of the movie, where he is secure kind of playing second fiddle and letting her do her own thing.
Was it as good as the first? No. Was it scary? No Did my kids like it? yes Did I enjoy it as well? Yes Will I see it again? yes, likely many times over
