Do you have a friend you can ask to lend you some plates? Could you scout some thrift stores?
Asking someone for plates is a good idea, can’t believe that didn’t dawn on me!
My sister and I bring dishes back and forth a lot. I have my own set of china I got for my wedding, and I coordinated it with my mom’s China and my aunt’s, both of which my sister has now. So Christmas Eve she’ll bring a bunch down to my house so we have enough (that’s the largest group by far) then she’ll bring them back to her house so she can host her ILs Christmas Day. It works out well and neither of us has to store unnecessary extra dishes the rest of the year.
I honestly do not understand the Amazon love. At all. I've ranted about them before, but here's my latest gripe:
I had issues with an order a while ago. Got them to give me a courtesy credit. Would have preferred a straight up refund, but fine. Ordered pants. They didn't fit. Returned them with "free returns". The only credited me the amount I paid. Not the amount plus courtesy credit. So basically I lost my courtesy credit because the pants didn't fit.
I actually think I might be done with them completely. It's too effing hard to return shit. And I think they probably regularly don't refund people properly, but people order from them so blindly that they don't notice.
ETA: Also--courtesy credit isn't shown anywhere in your account so there's really no way to tell how much you have. I should have fought them for a refund instead of courtesy credit. Eff them and their crazy return policies which are different based on "who the seller is" even though Amazon as the website should be providing some kind of assurance.
