DS1 is 3. Every time I ask him what he wants from Santa he asks for a computer. LOL. So...if I were to do a “computer” for a 3 year old what would you do? I’m thinking something Leap Pad related? Maybe something that flips open like a laptop? Ideas?
We also gave her an old iPad so you could do that too haha.
My question is about play kitchens. We don’t have a ton of space for one but I impulsively bought one today on sale. It seems like a must have and will probably get many years of play right? DDs are 3 and 1. Basically, make me feel better about the purchase?

If it makes you feel better on my 8 year olds Santa list are Melissa and Dougs food for the kitchen.

What does he like about the computer? My DD is also 3 and has a version of the leapfrog laptop but doesn’t like it anymore because it “doesn’t have paper on it.” Basically she just wants to be able to type away in a blank word document.
So if he’s like my daughter it may be more challenging...

My question- My kid is almost 6 & in K. He still loves paw patrol, but how much longer will that last? I feel like he’s already a little old for it? He keeps saying he’s going to ask Santa for the mighty tower thing... but all the pictures show toddlers using it! Plus we also already have the regular lookout tower. It’s pretty $$ for something that I’m not sure he’s going to be into for too much longer, and duplicating something we already have.
Should I get it anyway bc Santa? Or any other ideas that maybe we can guide him to? Ugh
(ETA- I did just order it bc it’s $30 off today, but I’m hoping to return it if I don’t need it. $70 is still a lot and I really don’t want more paw patrol stuff in the house..)

My kids are 7 and almost 4 and they play with it almost every day. Every kid who comes over also plays with it. We’ve had it for over 5 years and looks like we won’t get rid of it any time soon. The play kitchen, mini trampoline, and magnatiles are the top 3 toys in our house.

This was us last year. DS was 4.5 and wanted the fire truck. At the time we had one random pup that a family friend had given him when they came to visit. So, I bought the fire truck (on a good sale) and 3-4 other pups and he played with it for maybe a month or two. I had a feeling as soon as he got to Kindergarten he’d move on, and he has for the most part. I’m being far more methodical this year when it comes to gifts. I’m SO over all of this toy crap all over the place when he only plays with the same 4-5 things.
As for the original question- my ILs bought DS a kindle at a very young age and it’s been great!

I’m ashamed of the amount of Paw Patrol stuff we have. It has been living in DS’s bedroom closet mostly, and doesn’t get played with unless I pull it all out, and then they are only interested for maybe an hour and ignore it forever after. So yes, I think they are close to outgrowing it. He is also asking for the tower! No way am I falling for that trap, lol.
The latest obsession that all the older kids are into is Pokémon. I’m not sure if you want to encourage that though! Other requests are Beyblades and Bakugan. Peer pressure is real.
I do keep trying to stress that he will NOT get everything he asks Santa for, and that Santa will check with us for permission on what to get, to give us some leeway.

cricketwife that tube looks TOTALLY up his engineer-brain alley. I might grab that! We haven’t really done Playmobil- are they just playsets? Or do you build them like legos? He loves battlebots and real robot-type things, so I’m hoping to have my husband lead him toward some sort of build your own robot thing maybe? The trick so we go see Santa on Tuesday. Time is running out! 😬

Playmobil have to be built, but not like lego. They are more just playset.
We are giving the boys this — I have no idea if they will like it, but it’s a coding robot and on sale today. Maybe he would like it? I bought mine back when TRU was closing.
The 3 big items on my 6 year olds list are a ride on car, nerf guns, and a Nintendo Switch. We have a no guns and no video games rule in our house so the last 2 items are out and the ride on toy just seems ridiculous because we have nowhere for him to ride it and in all the ride on toy listing pictures show toddlers. I can picture this idea he has of himself and his two year brother riding down the street in one with cups of juice in their hands.
I’m really worried that he will be really disappointed on Christmas morning because he’s convinced that Santa will be bringing these things. He also has Pokémon cards and Marvel costumes on his list which he will be getting and there are a few Marvel Nerf items that I’m looking at. I’m thinking about getting remote control cars for both boys and including a note from Santa saying that the ride on wouldn’t fit in the sleigh so Santa thought that they would like the cars.

The play kitchen is the one thing we haven't been able to get rid of yet from when my kids were little. It is in our actual kitchen. For the past few years, it really only got played with during playdates, but lately my kids have been taking 'orders' and playing with it again in a much more sophisticated way than when they were little. Plus, I store some pantry stuff on top of it, and I don't know where I'd put that stuff if we got rid of it...i'd seriously have to buy another shelf or something
We got A a Leapfrog computer last Christmas. She wasn't quite 3 so we got her a simpler one, but it turns into a tablet and has lots of different games. We chose leapfrog because they have French versions of all their products. She still plays with it at almost 4.

My DD's are 3 and 1 also and I'd say the item in our playroom that gets the most action (aka- they literally play with it every time we're down there!) is the play kitchen. I don't see them stopping playing with it soon as old kids always gravitate towards it. Great purchase!

I just wept real tears realizing that she is going to be 4. OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGG.

I knowwww! We took her to a Christmas parade last night and she didn't look much younger than most elementary age kids there! 😭
Can I ask about teacher/caregiver gifts? We have so many between the kids: K teacher and aide (and a new intern), bus driver, aftercare bus driver, aftercare caregivers of unknown quantity, and 3 preschool teachers (1 main and 2 aides).
