What pants do you wear to play in the snow?

I usually just wear jeans with long underwear and my winter coat to shovel the driveway, but that doesn’t work for playing with DD1 in the snow anymore. I need something waterproof for sledding, etc and I can’t figure out what other moms are wearing. We don’t ski or anything serious but our neighbor is putting up an ice skating rink in their yard so I anticipate being outside so DD1 can play with the neighbor kids a lot this year. Any recs? Links appreciated! I want to invest in something nice that will last a few years.

Dicks sells a basic black snowpant for maybe $35. That's what I wear, and they do fine for outdoor stuff.

I have and love these from Eddie Bauer link. They're half off today! They are nice because they're warm but not thick like kid snowpants.

ETA: I wear leggings under them. I am typically a size 6 and wear an 8 in these.

I have a pair of north face ski pants. I paid around $100 I think.

I’d look at rei or backcountry and see if they have any on sale. Columbia probably is a less expensive option.

Bought some snow pants at Costco this year for $30. I noticed last week they were already clearances out at $20. I sized up.

I have a pair of ski pants (with a bib) that i bought 20 (!!!!) years ago. I don’t really ski but they work great when doing any snow activity.

ditto, I’ve worn the same bib overall snow pants for 20 yrs. I want a new pair soon but they really last. Bib all the way the for snow play

I'm about to get a new pair from Costco (going today). I think they're like $30. Just basic black snow pants. The ones I currently have are from college and they, um, won't snap anymore. ::cries::

They'll get dual use as ski pants when we start skiing again next season (our kids are finally old enough! happy dance!), but I would get a pair of snow pants even if you don't ski. Being out in the snow in jeans sounds terrible.

Ski pants from REI. I think they are Columbia brand. I’ve had them 8 years so far. Only problem is my stomach tries to outgrow them so I have to work out to fit back into them lol.

Snow pants! Specifically "snow bibs", which are like overalls.

I will say that my son's time out in the snow is a whole lot more fun now that I have snow pants! It was one of the best purchases since becoming a parent. I love being able to roll around in the snow with him, make snow angels, etc. It's the best.

Look on Amazon! I like the Arctix brand. Very good quality and thick. They won't tear. A great price, too.

I think you can't go wrong with just a pair of snow pants. I don't ski, but I have a pair for winter trips because I don't want to deal with wet underwear!

I have the arctix brand snow bibs from amazon. I like the bibs because I don’t have to worry about them falling down or if I gain/lose a few pounds

I wear bibbed North Face snow pants. I am small so I fit into the largest size in the children's section. I have worn them for almost 20 years now. Make sure you buy a waterproof pair.

I just have jeans. This thread makes me wonder if I should get snow pants though. It's so hard to feel like it's worth it when we get one or two snows a year though.

I wear the same pair of snow pants that I wore when I was in hs LOL. My dad cleaned out our storage unit a few years ago and found them, and they still fit, so that is what I wear.

My H bought me a pair of ski pants when we were dating in anticipation of taking me skiing. I've never once skied lol. I've had them 15 or so years now and they're still going strong!

Thanks guys! The price of snow/ski pants was making me hesitate, but looks like it's worth it! I ordered some Columbia ones to try and I'll have to check Marshalls/TJ Maxx too.

I got some north face bibs on eBay used for like $20. They were so warm and dry I would pay full price now. As long as I don’t change weight too much, they will last me forever with the amount of snow we get. But when we get it, I want to be comfortable
