A more general analysis of the impact of black voters in the primary. One of the conclusions is that we're in a 4 person race unless things shift again.
This Tw thread by Dr. Avis, @sistascholar, nails the media’s role in failing Kamala Harris, & I wish more people would pay attention to the unspeakable double standard. Unrolled: threadreaderapp.com/thread/1200982200042299392.html Hiding so it’s not too long/ wordy, but click for the glaring examples of hypocrisy:
I find it interesting, for example, that we’ve seen more negative coverage of Kamala’s campaign woes than of the seemingly out of the blue collapse of the Beto campaign. I also find it interesting that more ink has been spilled on her staffers than on a rival’s staffer who actually STOLE data from Kamala’s campaign. Also, ain’t it funny that none of the uncovered video footage of Mayor Pete palling around with Tea Party Members, or insulting Black children & families came from any of those fine journalistic institutions like @politico @washingtonpost or nytimes that seem so fixated on Kamala’s shortcomings? And wouldn’t you think one of these great bastions of investigative journalism would be interested in finding out exactly why Pete chose to fire a Black Sheriff for reporting racist activity in his police department rather than fire the racists themselves?

I'm trying to see how Pete is gonna get any black support. We'll see, but he is not on my radar for support. And his comment about he knows how it feels to be black because he's gay - ummm, yeah, no. Especially considering that there is a divide among POC LGTBQ folks and White LGBTQ folks. Nope. Try again.
I'm sure this has been discussed before, but can someone explain how polling works - like, exactly who gets polled and how? I genuinely can't wrap my brain around the fact that Castro has not met ANY of the polling requirements for the December debate while Steyer has qualified. I'm sincerely asking - how is this possible?

Not 100% sure, but I think one of the pods I listen to said that polls in an early state can count. So Steyer uses his money to flood the market in Iowa (or wherever) to get enough name recognition to hit the threshold in a couple of polls. He can hire huge staff, buy ads, etc. It gets him on he stage, even if it’s not building long-range support.
just looked it up— it’s 6% in two early state polls.
Baby Yoda sipping tea! I am here for Castro's social media team or whomever was the mastermind of the meme. I straight up cackled like a cartoon witch. Ah...I love working from home.

Say Biden is the candidate (don't run me out of town), what are the chances of Harris, Castro or Warren joining the ticket in VP slot?
Also, I am working on H at dinner about his Mayor Pete BS. Tonight's topic - birther jokes and dog whistle antics (thanks ESF for giving me talking points to bring to the table - off to pull some examples and research).

I think zero chance with Warren. They kinda hate each other.
Re: Pete. He needs to be called out HARD over all this shit at the next debate.
FYI Castro is 98% to making the threshold for the Dec debate. So if you haven't donated, consider doing so. I did so for the first time last week.
Does the donor clock reset with every debate? I donated to Castro before the 1st debate. If I donate now does that help, or is it only totally new donors?

Here are the rules. I just googled, so not sure if that's helpful

My ILs were here yesterday: FIL was talking about how really likes Pete, so my husband started talking to him about Booker, and he may have swayed him. Progress! Also, they're in NH but will be gone for the primary without an address to send their absentee ballot (they're traveling around in FL for Jan/Feb), so my husband told them to have it sent here and we'll get it submitted. Two votes for Castro, it is! Haha.
