Julian Castro only needs 1000 more donors. But he also needs to improve in the polls before he qualifies for the December debate.
Just came to share this. If you haven’t given to Castro yet, please consider (even a couple bucks should help, right?)! We need him on that debate stage!

I don’t think Castro will get the polls but the donations should help him out in the race anyway. I am hoping he gets more attention anyway despite no debate appearance and that that can propel him forward and help him become more of a contender.
Biden/Buttigieg will never ever happen. Biden’s people must know better. I also want a woman somewhere in the ticket. I think Harris would be a great runningmate but I am not sure Biden can put the previous debate aside and tap her.
And guys, Biden’s ad released today is pretty damn awesome. I have to give him (his team) credit for that. And they (all the Ds) need to do more of that because you know being a laughingstock pisses Trump off more than anything.
Hmm it’s funny because I actually wouldn’t be surprised at all if there is a Biden/Harris ticket.
if Biden is the nominee, I expect he will try his damndest to get her as VP, she has the most to offer. The question is, would she go for it? I could see her being conflicted about it. After her, I would guess Booker or Castro as a #2 choice.

Yeah, despite my TIC comment, Buttigieg would be more of a drawback than an asset on a Biden ticket. I'm not concerned about it.

I don't see Harris running as VP. She is FAR more powerful as a senator than a vp.
I have no idea who Biden might pick to run with him. Think of McCain who made a disastrous pick for VP. Candidates do weird things all the time.

I hope Harris doesn’t agree to being someone’s running mate/VP. She has so much more to offer than that role. I see her as AG or with a high level cabinet post, where she can be effective and do good work.

My new dream is Warren/Castro or Warren/Abrams with Harris as AG.
Honestly, I want Harris to go where she feels she can make the most impact, and frankly, advance her career. She's young. She's FAR from the end of her career, and now has name recognition on the national stage, possibly more than when she was actually IN the effing race, because now everyone in the press is wringing their hands over her quitting. Like, they were happy to ignore her while she was a candidate and checking the box for diversity, but OMG SHE's GONE?! NOW WHAT, omg she was SO QUALIFIED, and had great ideas! WHO KNEW?!
I'm still pretty pissed about this, clearly.
I don't even know if I would be excited with her as Biden's running mate, because, I mean, dude would be 78 in January 2021. It's entirely possible that he wouldn't be able to finish his term due to a health issue (not that I would wish that to happen to anyone except Trump....not sorry). If she was VP, and took over as President, yes, she'd be President and would do an AMAZING job, but she would forever carry the baggage from racists and misogynists (and at least 75% of political commentators, who love to "discuss" the talking points of assholes) that although she was the first woman, and woman of color president, she "only" got there because the white male president couldn't finish the term. The narrative would continue that a woman, and woman of color, would still be "second choice." Come 2024....I don't even want to imagine that racist, misogynistic, shit show. We'd be back to the "electability" garbage.
She's capable of winning it outright. IMO, VP would potentially deprive her of that opportunity, should she want to go for it in the future. If that's what she decides to do, I will support her fully (and continue thinking she should be at the top of the ticket), but I don't think we should all immediately fall into the "make her VP" discussions.
I wouldn’t be surprised if Harris is angling for a VP spot. I think dropping out when she did before she was tarnished further by likely losses is evidence that she is thinking about this as her next move. It’s insulting to contemplate while she is running but she’s not running now thus it’s not a wretched thought. I don’t even think it’s a terrible one.
I do, too. It’s 100% in message for her. Billionaires bad—help me address corruption. I’m ducking pissed that Gillibrand and Harris are out, too, and I’m livid it’s bc of white guys with money.
But Twitter is crucifying her, saying she’s fundraising off of Harris’ bad fortune.

That is some bullshit. Fuck yes fundraise harder because qualified women are being pushed out.
If Warren can't keep momentum it will be nothing but white men at the top.

It’s indicative that she is contemplating A next move but I dont think that means she is angling for VP. She is protecting her options for the future.
I hadn’t seen the news basically all afternoon and a friend I saw at a party told me about this and I literally thought he was joking. I honestly didn’t fully believe him until right now when I saw this article just now.
I'm always confused when people say Harris wouldn't/shouldn't be the VP because she could do more as a senator, it is beneath her, she is too good for the position, etc. Being VP is often the stepping stone to become president. It seems like it would be a great move for her politically.

Maybe this is merely wishful thinking, but even if Castro isn’t in this month’s debate, I feel really good about him in this race and think he’s ripe for a surge.

Out of 45 presidents only 9 were previously VP. It’s not a stepping stone at all. In fact, it seems like it’s mostly the opposite.

That's interesting. I would have thought the number was higher.

If, heaven help us, one of the mediocre white dudes gets the nomination, Harris would be an incredibly smart pick for VP.

eh, all former VPs don't necessarily run for president, or want to. A 20% "conversion" isn't too bad, considering how hard it is to become president (nominations, campaigning, etc).
However. That historical stepping stone is for white men. A woman in that role would not be given the automatic "experience" card that men are granted. That narrative for them would be any of the following:
-why wasn't she happy as VP? -she should be grateful she got that far to begin with -since she wasn't elected president, the country clearly still isn't ready for a woman -VP isn't the same as president, is she really ready, can she really do it? -(if it was a woman who previously ran in the dem primary): she wasn't successful in the democratic primary, is she really "electable" at the top of the ticket?
And that's just for a white woman. A woman of color would have even higher hurdles to clear, and be even more intensely questioned and scrutinized (as we've already seen). So like I said before, Harris would kick ass and take names as VP, or any role she chooses to undertake. But I don't think VP will automatically set her up for a successful presidential run in the future like it could for other candidates.

Well according to whichever article from last weekend, she's super worried about Tom Steyer beating her. (insert all the eye rolls here)
I think it's pretty rare for the nominee to select from their primary opponents for their running mate. I cannot fathom a world where Biden and his team is A-ok with footage of Harris destroying him over busing as a ready-made ad for the general election. Or even one with her talking about Buttigieg's issues attracting black voters, or trying not to laugh over that stock photo used in the Douglass plan roll out. I can maybe see a Warren/Harris ticket, but that is a world where they let two women be on the ticket in the first place, and I just don't believe we live in that world. (Though please! Prove me wrong, universe!)

I completely agree. I also don’t think she would agree to be VP for Biden or Buttegeig - maybe Warren (but yeah two women on the ticket 🙄) There is a downside to being VP which is that if you are second to someone incompetent and the whole thing goes south you will be unable to escape political consequences when you have relatively little power to stop or influence anything. Some of the possibilities for top of the ticket are a liability she doesn’t need for the future.

It’s also certainly not a high enough rate to consider it a stepping stone. Honestly, I feel like former VPs end up with a lot of baggage from whomever they were VP for, for good or for bad. And not a ton of work to show for it the way a cabinet member would. I think she would be better served with regards to her political future by staying in Senate or accepting a cabinet post, not serving as VP.
I’ve watched Kamala’s career for a long time. She knows what she is doing. She’s a very smart politician (making her campaign woes feel all the more painful). Whatever is next, whether VP or not, she knows what she is doing. And if it’s VP, I’m not here for the denigration of that move.
