So the conversation we had in mid-October, the last time we did this, along with some articles and other things I came to realize, changed my mind. I've moved from Warren to Harris now. Warren is still a top 3, but I'm less enthused about her, and I think Harris, her voice, and her ability to run against Trump are really what we need right now.

I really want to hear from the people voting for Pete. What is it about him that makes him a better choice for you than the other candidates?
same! I mean, I like him fine, but he has never been in my top 3. He seems so...bland? Neutral? What about him makes him more appealing than some of the others running?

Weirdly, some polling shows Pete is a lot of people's second choice behind Warren, and vice versa. Same with Biden and Sanders. I also see people online talking about how a Warren/Buttigieg ticket would be their perfect pair. It's kind of like most people only care about personality or "electability," not degree of liberalism or policies? Just that anything is preferable to Trump!

One of my friends, who lives in NH, mentioned that she was really torn between Pete and Bernie. I was so confused but changed the subject to avoid going on an anti-Sanders rant.
Pete is bad, guys. Videos keep coming out about his past statements - yesterday, there was one from 2018 where he cracked a birther joke. And his entire campaign is fucking dog whistle.
Whoever you are that has made him your first choice, please rethink that.

For these past polls, I've voted either Warren or Harris, depending on the day.
Recent discussions here have put me all in on Harris. I mean, I won't be disappointed to vote for Warren in the general if she gets the nomination. But for the Primary, it's Harris.

I think that's part of his appeal to some. In a "he's the opposite of Trump" kind of way.

Pete is my first choice, with Harris as a close second.
I am someone who is more central than most on here in regards to economic issues. Pete fits that for me. Plus I know him so I'm biased. South Bend is a small community.
I am not 100% committed to voting for him. But I like his policies the best right now. I can easily see myself voting for Harris.
ETA my issues with Pete are related to how he has responded to issues regarding race, and will likely be what has me vote for Harris.

I mentioned this in a previous thread about the primaries, but I am seeing tons of support for him here in NH suddenly.

I've been for Harris since the beginning. But her latest debate performance and her enthusiastic interactions with people of all sorts really made me like her even more. So happy to see her moving into the lead here for once. I would still be happy to vote for Warren in the general if she became the nominee.

Pete isn't my preferred candidate by a long shot, but I know a LOT of Pete supporters.
Most like him because he's a good speaker and because he's relatively boring. Basically, he has some decent ideas and otherwise seems reasonably competent. I'm not arguing anything with these people because 100% they'd otherwise be Biden or Bernie supporters.
One supports him because he's gay (said person is too). I mean, she likes his ideas just fine, but the tipping point is that he's gay.
Pete is my first choice. I like his policies, answers and demeanor. I spoke with him in person, was able to ask him 2 questions and his answers were exactly what I was looking for. He took time to listen and didn't BS me. I believe he has what it takes to make thought out decisions. I think he can beat Trump, more so than Warren or Kamala. I have had many conversations with moderate republicans who do not want to vote for Trump, but have made it clear that Warren is their new Hillary, whether it's deserved or not. Many switched parties to vote for Pete in the primary, even though they don't necessarily agree with some of his more liberal stances. I am more centrist, and think Warren's policies are too unrealistic and she is too divisive to win. I used to like Kamala until she became too scripted and disingenuous in the debates and town halls. I found many of her answers disappointing. Booker and Castro are my tie for 2nd choices.
Guys, I understand Pete talks nicely and isn't out there running on free college. He is also running a campaign that centers the white experience and denigrates the Democratic base, has more baggage on racial issues than anyone else in the race, and is incredibly inexperienced. If you disregard the latter because the former is important to you, you need to rethink your priorities.

This is saying a lot, since Biden is running. And really, that's not a knock on Biden - it's just that he has been in Washington since 1973 and a lot of best practices, let's say, when it comes to talk and action on race in America have changed in that time period, so I'd honestly expect there to be some cringe-worthy things in his past. (And there are.)

The most recent poll I saw shows Biden with 50% of the black vote, whereas Buttigieg is at zero. I think that voters will give some latitude for missteps if you also have some evidence of doing work for the community. That's what we saw with Hillary Clinton at least. Biden has problems, but some of those are cancelled out by some accomplishments. Buttigieg, on the other hand, seems utterly unaware that there were black people living in his home town until he announced his run.
