We are teaching C to dress and undress himself. What's the secret for getting shirts off? I was having him pull his arms out of the sleeves but it's pretty difficult for him that way so I'm wondering if there is an easier secret. YouTube was....not helpful.
Practice, I think. E1 only became independent with dressing/undressing in the last year. He still needs help with buttons, starting zippers, and certain snaps.
My question, which is related: how do you teach kids to tie their shoe? E1 has been interested lately. Other than bunny ears which is not my favorite method of tying since I don't feel like it's as secure.
When do babies hold their heads steady? Like when they’re being held?
DD gets tummy time and will hold her head up, and holds her head when she’s laying on someone/randomly when she’s being held. But picking her up or routinely when she’s being held she’s still a floppy rag doll. I have no memory of this age (5.5w) with DS.

I have no idea if this will work, but I bought it as a Christmas gift for DD since she likes to take shoes out of the hallway and play with the laces. I figured this is a clean option, plus when she’s ready to tie her own shoes she can practice on this:

pandorica, DS just turned 6m, and has been eating solids 2x/day for a couple weeks now, lunch at daycare and dinner at home. He would happily eat them a 3rd time, I just don't really have time to add breakfast to his routine, and that's currently his missing "meal." If it's as easy as sending to daycare I'd probably be in the "why not" camp, but I'm not in a huge hurry to add the 3rd time at this point.
My work Christmas party is on Friday. It's in the evening, cocktail attire. I always wear a dress and usually enjoy getting fancy for a night. This year I am totally not feeling it though. I bought 2 dresses in 2 sizes each from Gap, and they were both a bust. A velvet wrap dress that showed omg way too much sternum and nursing cleavage, and a skater dress that just looked frumpy. I don't want to spend money to feel frumpy.
I'm 6 months pp and 10-15 lbs. above pre-baby weight, enough that literally not a single appropriate dress in my closet fits. I don't feel like killing myself to find a dress to fit my body by Friday. If I do good makeup and jewelry, can I just wear a shirt like this, black skinny pants, good heels, and call it done?
I wore this shirt for our family Christmas pics but haven't worn it to work yet. So it's semi-festive colored and new-to-work.
At what age were you feeding your baby solids 3x/day? I'm debating on whether to send solids in to daycare for lunch.
The pediatrician wanted them on three meals a day by 9 months so we moved up to that around 8 months - by then they were basically on all table food too which made it easier.

Susie. I think that outfit is fancy enough. Go with what makes you feel best!
My question. My three year old can’t spit and is still swallowing toothpaste. How do I teach her? I tried with water and she ended up drinking the whole thing. She has pretty low body awareness with all things

Ugh, I wish DD was on table food. She's 8 months and still can barely handle anything more than a puree or at least a mash. Almost everything else she gags on.

I shouldn't even answer, because I'm not much help.
My oldest finally figured it out around 5.5. So I just let my 3-year-old swallow it for now. We have her practice spitting occasionally, but nothing comes out yet.

During the week my baby (6 months) only gets solids at lunch. We just don't have time pre/post work. My older DS was probably close to a year before he was getting solids 3x a day (mostly because we're lazy).

This makes me feel better that my 4.5 year old still hasn't figured it out.

This makes me feel better. It's so hard to fit it in some days!

This makes me feel better! We stopped practicing because she was just drinking excess water right before bed.

I think maybe around 9-10 mo? I was already sending lunch and giving her solids for dinner, so I started sending some yogurt or oatmeal with her to daycare, since a lot of kids in her class were eating breakfast. By 11 mo, she was eating the breakfast and lunch daycare served and then we did dinner.

We were doing 2 until he moved to the slightly bigger kid room at daycare at 9 months where he gets breakfast, lunch, and a snack in addition to 2 bottles. Now at 1 year we still don't consistently give dinner at home because we don't have time. I figure he's still getting 3 meals, just a bit front-loaded.
Potty training question again: DD (2) was super interested at 20-21 months and started asking to go when we came home from crèche and before her bath, she really enjoyed playing "big girl".
We then went on holidays and didn't really stick with it when we came home. She's now 2 and systematically refuses to sit on it at home though she does it at crèche. How do I get her to use the potty?

DD was good with head control at 5 weeks. DS just got good head control at 8 weeks or so. He has a much bigger head. I’ve been waiting for it to happen impatiently.

My 5 year old still swallows toothpaste. We use the Tom's kind, but I guess I never really thought about it. Maybe I should start teaching her lol.

pooh8402 I used the "shoe tying made easy" method my Mom used to teach her students (she is an Occupational Therapist Assistant who worked in the elementary school). DS1 learned at age 5ish with this method and then we transitioned him to adult-style tying at about six. I feel like the first method helped him get the concept and then he was able to tie them more like an adult when he was a little more dexterous. I will admit I bribed him with a new pair of real basketball shoes to practice the adult method.
How long after your baby started standing/cruising did they walk?
DD has hit some physical milestones on the early side - started full legit crawling at 6.5 months and pulling herself up to stand/cruising around her crib/the coffee table at 7 months. People have told me it only took a couple months to go from cruising to walking...but there's no way my baby is going to be *walking* at 9 months, right??
It's possible. My oldest crawled at 6.5 months and started walking at 8.5 months. She was running by 10.5 months.
My second crawled at 8 months and started walking at 10 months.
