Did we talk on this board about Ohio's bill that would make it illegal for doctor's to end a pregnancy and could face the death penalty, including ectopic pregnancies? The legislators suggest that a doctor attempt to implant an ectopic pregnancy into the uterus in order to save the embryo.
Can I get a "WHAT THE MUTHAFUCK!?!" Apparently Ohio lawmakers are unfamiliar with the way pregnancy works (or doesn't work.)

Hello I’m here to be extremely angry about this (again.)
I cant even read the headlines without crying because the technology they’re looking for here - the one that doesn’t exist - is something that would change my life forever. Can you imagine what a difference it would make for millions of people if you actually could just force an embryo to implant rather than just passively dropping it in the uterus? Or to take an extremely wanted ectopic pregnancy and relocate it, easy peasy viability?
I obviously get the fact that this is primarily an attack on women who are miscarrying in an attempt to redefine life as staring at conception but the fact that in doing so they are simultaneously acting like this is even a possibility breaks every single piece of my heart into a bazillion tiny smithereens.
I can’t imagine the very kind, gentle OB who successfully saved my tube during my ectopic surgery being hauled off to jail over a procedure that doesn’t exist. I’m certain if he could have saved the pregnancy, he would have.
I’m convinced these lawmakers are just going to extremes so the “lesser” laws they do pass in regards to abortion seem normalized.
I'm just outside of Columbus and have been following it really closely. The rep who introduced it is using 100-year-old medical information as his sources. Total slime.
It makes me so angry that they can't see beyond punishing women when, if we had had 50+ years of advanced research on reproduction and women's health, we could possibly save more wanted pregnancies than are lost to abortions.
Imagine if instead of using this stick, which will literally kill some pregnant women who can't get their ectopic pregnancies treated, we made it easier and safer for women who wanted to be mothers to achieve that goal.

This is why I bristle whenever someone mistakenly uses the word implant instead of transfer in any general discussion/ mention of IVF. The way it's being misused here makes me white hot with rage.

RIGHT? Like what causes recurrent miscarriage when the current explanations can’t explain it. But no, by all means continue to treat all of women’s health like a big fucking mystery no one bothers to understand. That’s how you know it’s actially about punishing women and not about babies.
So I just read the bill (Okay, read the changes, not the whole bill). It goes beyond that idiocy. It makes abortion a capital offence--actually calling it "aggravated abortion murder" and applies to anyone performing or having an abortion.
So they want to give the death penalty to women seeking an abortion.

SAME! If it was easy to implant an embryo, everyone would be doing it.
I don't get how we claim to have the most advanced medical care in the world and simultaneously demand mythical procedures like this to be done. It's like they didn't consult any medical professionals and if they did, it's some guy from the class of 1944.

This bill is irrelevant to our medical care. It was written by politicians who know and care nothing about medicine, reproduction and female anatomy. It's just another ploy to end legal abortion. I can't imagine any legit medical professional would endorse this.

I realize that, but the bill sounds really bad coming out of a country that likes to brag about its advanced medicine. It's like our politicians can't be bothered by science and facts (which I know they can't be bothered because facts get in the way of their agendas).

The GOP’s complete disconnection from reality is really stunning. Nothing new, but unbelievable nonetheless.

Fixed it for you:
The GOP's utter hatred for women is really stunning.
As someone who almost died due to a ruptured ectopic pregnancy, I'm having an extremely hard time finding the words to respond to this. So let me get this straight, I had a traumatic 'miscarriage' (I used quotes because I'm not sure at which point during the loss the embryo was no longer viable) that resulted in me bleeding internally and nearly dying, and yet you want/expect me to try to carry a pregnancy immediately following that (not that I think that it is even medically possible, but assuming it was)? What in the actual fuck.
The first sentence sounds like propaganda but what do I know
The Linacre Quarterly is the oldest continuously published bioethics journal in the United States. As the official journal of the Catholic Medical Association, it explores issues at the interface of medicine and religion, focusing on bioethics and also exploring medical topics which have an ethical dimension.
So NOT a scientific journal and ethics journal that looks at science. And the science from 1917 is far different from now. Whoever is arguing for this sure doesn't know science at all.
