This is kind of mmm related? Because I’m about o have a newborn and need my caffeination to be on point? Lol This is long because coffee is serious business 😂
I currently have a ninja coffee maker- just pretty basic, but I like that I can make a cup/travel mug/half pot or full pot and also at different strengths (for hot or cold coffee). Also I do enjoy that the water reservoir thing is removable so I can fill it at the sink.
It’s about 2 or 3 years old now and the last few mornings it has switched a button on when it starts at the timer, so I have no coffee ready when I wake up. I have to mess with the button back and forth a few times, even if I’m not using the timer. The water reservoir also makes me CRAZY because it’s impossible to clean under the button that releases water. I even called them and they basically told me there isn’t a way (and sent a replacement reservoir a year ago). I run it through the dishwasher and do the cleaning, but it still grosses me out. Also the GD clean button never turns off, no matter how many times I clean it and/or push that button. So I’m basically done with this pot.
Do you have any recommendations? Not too $$? I usually do a half pot a day so single pods are annoying/wasteful and out. Should I just go back to my cheapie $20 mr.coffee pot? I do like the option to make smaller amounts for mid-afternoon...
I’ll just buy a new Ninja when it dies. I love it so much. I don’t use the timer though bc I only drink lattes.
My clean notification won’t turn off either but I read it’s a common issue. My frother won’t stay on now either. Dh wants to exchange it (Costco) but I feel like we should just buy a new one.

My somewhat-basic Cuisinart coffeemaker from Costco wasn't that expensive when I bought it a couple of years ago and does a good job. The programmable timer is a lifesaver in the mornings. I also use a cheap Mr. Coffee grinder to grind beans at home first, which I realized was why my drip coffee used to suck.
The thing about drip coffeemakers is that you can still make as little as you want; it's not like you have to fill the whole pot. I'm the only person in my house that drinks coffee so I have no problem making coffee just for my Contigo travel mug at a time.

Does your water reservoir get gross under that button in the bottom? They told me there is no way to get it off and clean under it, so it just grows water funk 🤢

I just looked bc I’ve never noticed that and it looks fine to me! I do a white vinegar clean every few weeks.

Yeah I used to do that in the regular coffee maker - this one is awesome because I can drip it right into my single mug or travel cup and it doesn’t turn on the burner/heating thing on the bottom. Lol I am ridiculous 😩

Ugh we do have lots of minerals in our water- it could be making ours grosser quicker.
I love our Ninja. I never thought about the bottom button, but we use filtered water just for the coffee maker so maybe (hopefully) that helps. Our clean button stayed on for like a year and then suddenly went off and has been fine ever since. I agree you'd probably have less potential issues with a regular coffee pot, but the Ninja is just so versatile!
We have the same issues with the Ninja, but H loves that thing and I’m sure we’ll get another if/when this one breaks. I don’t drink coffee, so I’m no big help.
I’m probably no help, but we just have a pour over filter and a French press. With an electric kettle you can make a pretty quick cup of coffee, it’s always good if you put enough grounds in, and I never have to worry about the water quality. I used this when I had newborns too.
I love my Ninja, but when it dies (again as the base already was replaced under warranty because it wouldn’t make coffee), I’ll be replacing it with a good old fashioned cheapie pot (Mr. Coffee or similar) because those seem to last a lot longer than the more complicated pots.
I got so annoyed with regular coffee makers dying on me that I finally switched to a Keurig single serving style. It really helps me limit my coffee intake since I used to be a half a pot a day type. I resisted for years to make the switch but happy with it now. It just so nice to have a cup of coffee quickly with little clean-up and low maintenance.

We have hard water, but we also have a water filter. I only put the filtered water in my ninja coffee maker. I noticed that I got clean notifications quicker if I used unfiltered.
A cycle or two of white vinegar cleans it right up.

I looooove mine.
Gah I have done so many vinegar cycles (the shorter and longer ones) and spent TONS of money buying their stupid cleaning solution thinking I wasn’t cleaning it well enough or something. The light just won’t turn off. It infuriates me lol
I have a Keurig and use the reusable filter..takes literally a minute to set up..I put pod in over night usually be just add my water and go in the am.
I love our Cuisanart with a thermal carafe. I will often take the carafe with me to work, so that I can top off my mug. It usually lasts about 3 hours.

I'm no help, we have an Aeropress and a burr grinder. It makes single cups and the longest part is heating the water for the coffee. It's great coffee but, it is tricky to get 2 hands free with a newborn to make it
DH has a low cost Hamilton Beach single cup- but it doesn’t use pods, he just puts like two spoonfuls of grounds into it, pours the amount of water he wants to brew into the top, and hits the button. It doesn’t have fancy timers or anything but one cup doesn’t take long to brew so it works well for him.
I’m a tea drinker so it is exclusively his and a pot is too much, but he also didn’t want the pods due to cost/waste. He runs vinegar through it once a month and our water is crazy hard here and that’s kept it running fine.
I love my electric percolator. The coffee tastes fantastic. It doesn’t take very long and while it’s not great as a single cup maker, it’s fine for two or three or ten.
