OC: I can not believe Vicki. I mean Kelly Dodd is a vile person but it makes Vicki worse when she is talking to the person Kelly punched (or whatever she did).
NJ: I can not with Dolores. Who the hell cares if Jacki was raised a different way!? I mean, Jesus she lives with her ex and her biyfriend is clearly not that into her but she continues to follow him around like a pathetic teenager.
Jennifer was on WWHL and still thinks she is a comedian. The audience laughed at something she said but not because it was funny but more of a ‘holy shit what did she say’ embarrassed awkward laugh way and she ran with it thinking they thought she was funny. SHE’S NOT!
DALLAS: Leeann has major issues. I wonder how she will spin her racist rants.
I can not wait to see what happens between her and Kameron next week. I do agree with her on the sex worker thing. I would not feel comfortable going to those shows. I imagine a lot/most of the women are not there willingly. They are adding to the exploitative nature of it.
I quit watching OC two seasons ago because I just couldn't take Vicki or Kelly.
Dallas - I think D'Andra is full of shit when she says that she bought the infinity dress to show support for Leann. The whole thing was aimed at making Leann feel bad. I'm not a Leann sympathizer in any way, particularly with how nasty her racist crap has been, but I still don't think that was D'Andra's motive. Also, I thought it was weird that Cort sent Cam flowers while they were on vacation. I guess it's sweet, but seems like such a waste.
I agree. I think Kelly and Vicki have so many issues.
Leann is ridiculous. Enough about the carnival. I also wonder about her take on things in her childhood and her mom. She is a horrible person. Always the victim and manipulative as hell.
Jennifer is an asshole too. Her daughter telling the opposite of what she wanted to hear was priceless. Dolores was a jerk and i do think Jackie is on the sensitive side and how she doesn't see that is odd. I mean, maybe she can move on quickly, but she is quick to get hurt feelings.

@princessbubbleyum I agree with you about D’Andra. She absolutely did that to hurt Leeann. I mean, she can say she didn’t but we all know she did.
cleo Jackie is sensitive. Any one of those ladies would be upset by the things that has been done to Jackie if it had been done to them. Dolores would flip her shit if Jackie told her she didn’t understand the way she raised. I mean, Dolores was PISSED when they got back to their room after the confrontation, you could see it on her face. It’s just all such bullshit.
fivechickens,i didn't mean to imply that she was being overly sensitive in this episode. Dolores was not nice and really, wtf was Jennifer thinking telling Jackie what Dolores said about not considering her a friend.
My biggest annoyance with pretty much all of the women, exception being Melissa, is that they are happy to dish it out but can in no way take it. At all.

I knew you didn’t mean that. I was just thinking how Dolores implied that Jackie is more sensitive than everyone else.
I agree with you.
I can’t with Jennifer and her shit. She is horrible.
They should kick Vicki and Kelly off the show. Vicki is a pot stirrer and Kelly is just a disgusting pig.
Jennifer is just a gross person. I hope Bethany goes after her for her comments. Does she really think she is in the same league?
Dolores is nasty and a hypocrite. Jackie was raised differently? Are you kidding me? Jacki is sensitive, but im glad she went back at Dolores(who still looks lime a man to me)

I have so much to say about Dallas since I live in Thailand. I'm generally bored/annoyed by them so I missed quite a few episodes, but I definitely tuned in for Thailand.
I loathe all those bitches who don't eat the food, with smug disdain. Street food is amazing and generally very safe; it reeked of xenophobia. And while I like Stephanie generally, Cabbages and Condoms is famous for both their food and advocacy. At a time when the Thai government was saying AIDS didn't exist in the country so no need for condoms, C&C commissioned Thai models to make condoms for the local market. They use profits for safer sex and anti-trafficking campaigns. They've been around 20ish or so years and are amazing. Of course her plain chicken (I'm guessing there were at least 2 dipping sauces) was bland. What did she expect?! And she wouldn't even try the curry. I can understand being wary at some street food if they don't have signs in English, but where they were, I guarantee all had English labels. I can see being wary it would be too spicy, but at C&C they would very much understand, and deliver, no spice. WTF. It's not like it was congealed blood soup, a delicacy where I live. Dallas isn't podunk; surely they've had curry and pad thai.
About the ladyboy shows, they're not all explicit sexual/trafficked. I have a close ladyboy (that's not a bad word for it here. I use the Thai word, kathoey, but ladyboy is equally acceptable) friend. She dances in a cabaret. It puts a lot of drag shows I've been to in the States to shame. My friend has had full GCS. She does some consensual sex work, too, but sometimes it's as relatively mild as posing for pictures. I believe her when she says she enjoys it, and it's her choice. Is there rampant trafficking in the country? Hell yeah. Particularly in Pattaya where Stephanie's husband was. But I wish, like with C&C, bravo had a popup to at least give a little context. Ladyboy =/ sex worker automatically. There's a famous muay thai fighter, for instance and a documentary about it. For anyone who cares, ladyboy is considered 3rd gender and predates Buddhism. So, not man in drag, not MTF trans. Fascinating history if you want to go down that rabbit hole.
Also fuck Kary for her cartman I do what I want. I'm as atheist and sacrilegious as they come, but I still follow cultural norms, covering shoulders and knees, etc. And if I wore a hat, I'd remove it. The head is considered special in Buddhism. It's not hard, asshole. At least she ate the food.
The less said about LeAnn the better. Her racist ass can't get off my screen soon enough. "Those poor broken elephants. I understand because I'm broken, too." Bitch, please. Yeah, elephant mistreatment is a huge problem. It breaks my heart, too. But it's not about her. Have I ever seen a real tear from that asshole in her many "it's all about me and carnie this and broken that"? And people tried to comfort her? She'd have gotten an eyeroll at best from me.
I'm just waiting for someone to say the king is ugly and get deported for life. Not that I agree with lese majeste, but it would serve them right.
As an aside, tonight I walked by KKK Nails. They'd feel right at home there.
Thanks, I had to get that out there somewhere. My reddit login wasn't working. I don't know anyone here who would have watched, Thai or Western.
basilosaurus, I thought kary was taking it off when going into the temple, which is when it was required, but was is required or should it be done when at the location in general, whether you are in the outside area or inside a building?
I will say that as much as D'Andra annoys me, I appreciate that she seems to appreciate the culture where she is, especially the food.

I thought Kary was taking her hat off when she went into places that you should remove your hat? I thought she was annoyed, not because she had to take her hat off, but because Leeann kept nagging her about taking it off. She knew she had to take it off and did but didn’t need Leeann to tell her, kind of thing.

Kary did take it off inside, despite her bitching, but that particular temple should all be treated as sacrosanct. It's right next door to the royal palace and is considered extremely important religiously. Kary wasn't technically wrong, and the Thai would likely excuse her for inside/outside wear, but her defense was 100% wrong. She was likely the only 1 with a hat even outside. Just blend into the culture around you.

I'll fully admit I don't fully understand the dirty/clean thing. I get how conceptually heads are clean (you're not even supposed to ruffle a kid's hair) and feet dirty, but many temples you're barefoot even outside, and your feet were probably already nasty from walking on the streets. If I'm barefoot outside the least I can do is take my hat off. That's where I'm coming from. Who does it hurt to take it off? No one. Who does it hurt to keep it on? Potentially many.
The first time I visited that temple was on holiday nearly 13 years ago when either the queen or the king's sister (I think the latter) had just died. It was a really big deal. Just yesterday was father's day/king's bday which was a national holiday. It's revered far more than our president's day. For better or for worse, how much effort does it take to comply with social norms in a society that values them deeply?! It seems so toddler to say "I do what I want." You're a guest in their country/culture. Deal with it or don't go. We live in the US where we can rage when we get home. I have many things to say about the geopolitics here and the monarchy. There's a lot to say. But I know my place.
To put in context, imagine if every time you go into a school, government building, mall there was a picture of trump with flowers, offerings, nasty sweet pink drink, and a flag. That's the (IMO forced) reverence. Suck it up, buttercup, and take off your damn hat.
ETA add to the list restaurants and often bars where you'll see these shrines. Basically everywhere you go. When you leave the airport, at least where I live, there's a billboard saying it's a crime to disrespect buddha. We all know disrespect isn't exactly specific. I was waiting at immigration today as I have to do every so often, and my new pal kept having the wind whip the flag in her face ("It's sooo cold" Reality: It was 78* but she truly was shivering with chicken skin). She finally tied it up but bowed to it as she did so. It was 95% shrine to the current king. That's why I say they're accommodating at foreigners not knowing the nuance, but a damn sign saying no hats, and you have a guide and local crew, take off your fucking hat.

There needs to be more of an uproar about what a racist POS Leanne is. She’s disgusting.
OC is so hard to watch, and yet I continue. Hopefully after this season they will fully get rid of Vicki...and Tamra and Kelly while they’re at it.
ETA: to clarify, I have not seen Bravo address what Leanne said, and they need to and already should have. Just googling it, I see nothing from them, and this is Leeanne’s response to Entertainment Tonight:
"Everything I do in my life, anybody who knows me anywhere around the country -- from WeHo to Dallas -- knows that I believe in inclusion and equality, and I will fight and die for making that happen," LeeAnne tells ET, rebuffing the racist label. "I don't know how you can have that label and an 'ally' label. And I tell you what, I love my ally label and I'll never lose it."
Post by basilosaurus on Dec 6, 2019 12:19:14 GMT -5
We all know Andy never calls his favorite (his perceived money makers) on their shittasticness.
Vicki was already supposed to be a "friend" but has more screentime than regulars.
I believe LeAnne thinks that of herself. And in her circle not being outright antigay makes her seem good (I know more than a little about it as my sister knew her and Cameron peripherally. Sorry, no dirt). But that's only 1 facet of inclusion. If she's an ally, she's not wanted.
Kary did take it off inside, despite her bitching, but that particular temple should all be treated as sacrosanct. She wasn’t bitching about having to take her hat off. She knew she had to take her hat off when she went into the temple. She was bitching about Leeann telling her to take her hat off. That’s it. she even said so much in her confessional. She knew she had to take her hat off and didn’t need Leeann to remind her too every second like a child.
And you are right, she should have kept her hat off while she was in that area.

I caught this week’s episode and Dolores is a huge bitch. She’s def saying that because Jackie is Jewish and she just wants to surround herself with Italians.
I still need to catch up on Dallas. LeeAnn is so awful this year! Sometimes she makes me laugh but the racist stuff is unforgivable. She should be fired.
I thought Delores was really out of line. I honestly don't know how she has kept her job because she really brings nothing to the show and will occasionally have these outbursts to try to keep herself relevant IMO. I don't think Jackie melds well with this groups because she actually is pretty smart and it just seems like she doesn't have a lot in common with the other ladies. I'll be surprised if she is back next season.
