My house had a lot of wallpaper and still has a bit, but this week, it has a little bit less!! My handymen have been here, removing the wallpaper from the stairway. And today, they're painting. (I was going to do it, but decided this was better for my stress levels.)
Because you can see up the stairway from the front door, it's been a source of a small bit of embarrassment as the old wallpaper was outdated and peeling from the walls. I'm so excited to get this done!!!
And for the curious, the halls are painted with Benjamin Moore Georgia on my Mind (134) and my office, which I did over Thanksgiving week, has BM Peach Cider (135).

Thanks - I fell in love with Georgia on my Mind when I started the hallways project (downstairs halls, upstairs hall). When I did my office, I'd been waffling over colors and suddenly realized that I could take it a shade darker than the halls. I even had a color picked out and changed my mind 2 days before I started painting.
Here are two of the office - it was a crazy week, but I'm so thrilled with how it came out! I work from home, so I spend a lot of time in here.
Thanks, mrsukyankee! The room is on the northeast side of the house, so it rarely gets any direct sunlight. Plus, I'm in the northeast US … the sun is just a casual friend around here. So bright was one of the big goals.
I've spent so many years in apartments/condos with plain white walls that I'm kind of thrilled to be using color. Scared, but thrilled.

Wallflower, I grew up in NEPA so I get ya on the sun thing (plus being in London...ugh). I also grew up and lived in all white walls so I used colour as soon as I could. Love it!
mrsukyankee - My Dad was from NEPA! Outside Scranton, a tiny little hamlet called Spring Brook. Near Moscow, if you know that area.
I have to admit that I owned my condo for 14 years and didn't like the color in the bedroom but never painted. I was just too scared of picking a "bad" color. I think I always wanted to sell that place, never intending to stay that long, and that might have influenced me, too. Just not so emotionally invested to push past my fear of color.
But this is the house I want to stay in a long time. It's taken me a few years to live with it/in it and decide how I wanted to change things up, but I've done a lot in the last year. I have one more room where I want to remove wallpaper and paint. After that, the changes will involve contractors (redoing the kitchen and bathrooms being the biggies).
I always remember that the TV stations were all out of Wilkes-Barre. And my Dad worked at Wyoming Seminary in Kingston for a few years, way back in the 60s.
I'm a few hours away in upstate NY, outside Albany.

HOLY FREAKIN' SHIT. My dad worked there from the late 60s to just about 3 years ago. I went there. Super, duper small world.

No way!?!!! Damn, seriously small world. Dad left WS around 1962/1963. He taught history and he and mom were house parents for a year or two.
