I was just thinking about how we've gotten lucky that it hasn't been in the single digits, which is rare for this time of year, but we get extended winter well into late March to make up for it. Last couple of years you get most of winter in Feb and March.
I really wish people would stop sending pictures as documents, esp through unsecure email. At least things like transcripts or forms with pii.
I feel like a dinosaur again, I deposited a check in an ATM the other night, my mind is somewhat blown. Apparently this technology has been around for a long time.
pandora89, that is super shady. It's also strange that he let your DH buy 50/50 and didn't keep majority share. It sounds like he's generally inept.
Is the Amex a charge card or credit card? It sounds like it's time to go to a model where he pays with his own card and is then reimbursed for expenses if he can't keep it straight.

You can do mobile deposit through my bank's app now. I don't have to go to the bank at all.
They've had deposit through the ATM for quite a while lol
Whelp, my little black cat, aka Kitty Cujo, aka the winner of the cute kitty contest you all helped me win so many years back might have cancer. Probably melanoma.
The lump I had the vet look at yesterday was "weird" and she said it could have been anything from an infected oil gland to melanoma, and they did a little needle aspiration to look at the cells under a slide in the office and the results were inconclusive. Some of the cells were normal and some were "mysterious" but didn't explicitly scream cancer. They also did a senior screen blood panel since she's a 10 year old cat, and a different vet at the office called this morning with the test results and her white cell count is low in a way that can be indicative of cancer. She was like, "well, has she been acting sick because sometimes the cells just sort of clump together and we can repeat the test..." (she didn't know about the lump the first vet saw yesterday, so I explained about that) and she was just kind of like, "oh... yeah lets definitely send the slide over to get it check out by the lab."
Ugh. I'm avoiding telling my H until he gets home. He loves this cat to bits.
It does seem like it should be pretty treatable though, but finding out your favorite kitty might have cancer (when you are stress about work, you mom's cancer, life in general, etc.) is kind of a day ruiner.
Monica Geller , I'm so sorry you are dealing with this. I'll be thinking of you and hoping baby keeps cooking a while longer.
ETA: and Nonny, I'm sorry about your kitty as well. I hope if it's cancer it's a super treatable one and he'll be able to live a much longer, healthy life.

Thank you everyone! They’re hoping to get me to 30-32 weeks but to get through the first week is supposedly the first hurdle. I’ve got a great team and I’m confident in their care of me and baby. It just sucks.

H wouldnt agree to the purchase unless it was 50/50. Partner is much older than H (similar age to H's father) and we think wants to retire sometime soon,. They have discussed giving H the "reigns" and partner receiving a share of profits for a certain period. The plan is that H will end up buying partner out of the company sooner rather than later. But yes, partner has been letting a lot of stuff go by the way side and has for a bit. H has had to fix a lot of financial things already.
It is an Amex credit card but H said they would be moving to a charge on your own card, provide receipts model going forward. There really shouldnt be a lot of charges on the card since most of the employees pay for their own stuff and submit expenses so this should make it easier.
eta - I should mention shady financial moves by partner aside, company is still very profitable. Both H and partner take home a sizable salary + profits etc.
We moved into a new house on Friday, and are not yet fully unpacked. The movers helped us pack some of our things but they were very haphazard and it's driving me nuts. For the first time in months, I feel well enough to exercise and I can't find the power cord to my Peloton anywhere. Grr.
I witnessed a reminder that there are good people in this world. I was pumping gas at a station off a major highway and saw a leaf blower fall off a mans truck. Another person pulled over and helped direct/stop traffic and got the leaf blower back to the owner.
You could tell these people didn’t know each other. I needed that reminder of kindness today.
I am way too excited about the Jeopardy GOAT tournament. It is making my week. I want everyone to watch and be as excited as I am. 😂😂
I watched last night and absolutely geeked out on the "Before, During and After" and "Triple Rhyme Time" (FINE WINE SHRINE!) categories. I'd pause the TV and my FI and I would try to suss them out.
I'm not a regular Jeopardy viewer, but I knew who all 3 guys were. Ken Jennings is a local minor celebrity around here (Seattle) and I met him briefly when he stopped by Geek Bowl, which is the annual quiz tourney for Geeks Who Drink. I thought the general questions would be harder? I knew at least half of the answers, which means they weren't tournament-caliber questions.

I was so amazed at the speed they came up with answers! I'm decent at jeopardy and felt like I could have come up with most of the triple rhyme answers. But definitely not fast enough to compete with those 3!
I made that African peanut soup a couple of people suggested in the vegan soup thread and while it's good, it's making me crave massaman curry hardcore.
I can check off my second gym day of the year. Someone in the CEP thread suggested setting a goal for what I'm doing at the gym, as opposed to going a certain number of days a week, and that's really speaking to me. I just need to decide what my rowing goal should be.

Jeopardy! as a whole has gotten easier in recent years. I know I have not gotten smarter all of a sudden, so... lol.

Are the questions getting easier, or are we (on this board, not society, obvs) getting older and smarter?

Yay, that was me! Glad you liked it.
I haven't been in the mood to eat it this week even though I made it to eat, you know, through the week, but I forced myself to have that instead of the other dish I made and it's really quite tasty. I'm looking forward to eating it the rest of the week now. lol

I honestly think they are getting easier. Even H has noticed. lol In some ways it makes me wonder if it is close to running it course. I am not saying trivia shows in general, but I just wonder if there is not enough there to work with anymore. I tend to know some higher knowledge stuff, but really it is my knowledge of the useless crap is where I shine. lol

(((Nonny)))
Jeopardy has gotten way easier/more pop culture. I like watching it more now because I know more. My dad should go on it because it's a History encyclopedia, but he's psyched out by the pop culture.
I've been making fresh bread lately and we are eating WAY too much of it. But it's SO good, especially with butter and honey. Mmmmm. I cut and froze the 2nd loaf so hopefully defrosting it slice by slice will slow us down. DD is finally eating her sandwich at school, though, which makes me happy.

Monica Geller,Sending lots of good thoughts yours and baby's way. You've made it to a great milestone weeks-wise. Hopefully baby can stay put a few weeks longer.
