This is a juicy piece from CNN. According to four sources, when Bernie and Warren met in Dec. 2018, he told her that he didn't think a woman could win in 2020.
Bernie is now denying it. I'm thinking Warren's campaign leaked the story after Bernie took a shot at her recently, saying that all her supporters were highly educated, affluent people.

Welp, he might have said that, bc it seems that a women didn't beat Trump in 2016, but I wonder why he is so adamant that he didn't say it. It sounds like him to ramble on about a women having a harder time going against Trump. I'm guessing he thinks that. I guess I'm not surprised and it doesn't change my opinion abour him.
But can I just be a bit TIC when I say his quote about this is soooo very Bernie...
"It is ludicrous to believe that at the same meeting where Elizabeth Warren told me she was going to run for president, I would tell her that a woman couldn't win," Sanders said. "It's sad that, three weeks before the Iowa caucus and a year after that private conversation, staff who weren't in the room are lying about what happened. What I did say that night was that Donald Trump is a sexist, a racist and a liar who would weaponize whatever he could. Do I believe a woman can win in 2020? Of course! After all, Hillary Clinton beat Donald Trump by 3 million votes in 2016."
He is so against identity politics, but he is not a democrat? I know he always says this, but basically he is a white, liberal, male democrat who has "othered" himself as a progressive. And that has worked well for him, but seems he attacks if other candidates meet him at his progressive stances AND identify with a minority group. This is very Bernie. He does want credit for doing it first or saying it the loudest when others were slowly working to the same. I think this is why his endorsements fall flat of other people... he still wants the credit, so his enthusiasm for his own ideas always will pale in comparison to supporting someone else's ideas or campaign.
Bernie was the one who told the young woman of color who wanted to become the first Latina Senator (or something?) that people should not concern themselves with those things. So he can spin this all he wants but he has already shown his cards on this topic. There are receipts.
Bernie sucks forever and ever. He’s an old misogynist and I say I’ll vote for the D nominee no matter who it is but frankly, in ruby red TN, if it’s him, it’s tempting to say fuck that.

No, that is pretty easy to believe.
EW: "Bernie, I'm going to run for president."
BS: "That's cool Liz, a woman will never win though."
His gaslighting is so fucking nauseating. He's just like Trump with the cult of personality base who will support him no matter what. I'm trying so hard not be disheartened by all of the asshattery going on.
I have been saying for a while now that Bernie is, at best, indifferent to misogyny and that he will throw women under the bus the first chance he got, and people (not here) have told me I was being overdramatic.
NO, I WAS NOT BEING OVER DRAMATIC, TYLER, YOU DOUCHECANOE.

Um, yes. Also, he is bordeline misogynist, dismissive to the notion any perspective that isn't centered on economic inequality, rambles, has like one good(?) idea, and is old. I bet he said it and it didn't even register THAT he said it in his cotton-haired head because he's just a dick who doesn't think about anything other than what's in his excruciatingly small field of vision.

Dear Bernie,
A woman won the popular vote in 2016.
So there.
P.S. The Electoral College was created to protect the interest of land-owning white men. So if a woman can’t win, despite all evidence to the contrary (see above), then perhaps it has more to do with gerrymandering and political shenanigans than actual voter preference.

<sorry this turned into a general bitching about BSANDERS & his adamant loyalists> The problem is certainly centered around the sexist, OLD, white, adamantly-NON-Democrat male who is once again trying to secure the Democratic nomination. (🙄x100)
Nonetheless, a huge component to the BS-issue is that of his fanatic followers/ the Bro’s Et al, if you will. They are so damn defensive of their candidate, that I have a major feeling they will not vote for the Dem nominee when BS fails to secure the nom* (*Lord willing). Just speaking from my Tw experiences, even though I’ve tried to be more than gentle: def not the Vote Blue No Matter Who shouty-ness, but more of a please help us not have four more years of Orange Menace reasoning. However, I’ve rarely (as in with ONE single person in my 25+ attempts) had success, & get the feeling they’re gonna All-Or-Nothing it just like last year. And this even seems to be somewhat of a strategy with some interactions. As in- “Wouldn’t you rather have BS than 4 more years of Trump? And if BS doesn’t win the nom, you’re gonna have 4 more yrs of Trump, cuz none of us are voting for a nominee that’s not Bernie Sanders!” Just wondering if others have come across these ridiculous, oh-so-frustrating conversations & if anyone has any advice/ stories to share/ compare/ moan complaints about??

I haven't run across this recently. I actually have seen less of this than in 2016. In my area the (mostly white men) voters who were Bernie die-hards are pretty quiet right now. I think they are feeling that something they did helped Trump win and are a bit puppy-with-a-tail-between-his-legs, but that might be my optimism talking and they might just be closet Bernie fans this time. (shrug)
When does actually vetting this old shitbird happen?
Just like Trumpers, his supporters give zero fucks. I wish vetting would make one damn bit of difference to those who worship at the altar of Saint Bernard.

I guess I don’t do much care about his core supporters but I’d like to have a serious conversation about why he is a huge problem in a general election.
But omg kill me now if it becomes Biden v Bernie and then one of those two v Trump. The old white man timeline is the worst and is also going to be the end of me.

I agree. But vetting won't change anyone's mind so it seems like a waste of time and resources. We'll always hate him and know he's not qualified and a misogynistic asshole and his supporters are blinded by their love for him. I could be being dumb right now too.
My source on this is my DH, who is my loadstone when it comes to talking to marginally informed liberal voters - I think most people think Bernie *has* been vetted because, "Why would he have held office for so long without being vetted?" Then again, it took a while to get him to understand the difference between a socialist independent and a democrat.
I 100% believe he said this and I'd also 100% believe he doesn't remember saying it.
I mean he is a 247 year old heart attack patient who believes his election will scare Mitch McConnell into doing the right thing, so it's not a stretch to think he's so far gone that he also has a Werther's where a brain should be.

I can also picture the hand-waving “Ah, I didn’t mean it like that. She’s overreacting and being too sensitive.”
I can also see it as a comment that comes out when you forget you need a filter. So definitely what you're thinking, but not what you meant to say.
I mean, he doesn't seem to have much of a filter to begin with (that's not a dig, I don't either) and given that he's so old, it's probably getting less and less by the day.

This made me literally LOL, and also reminded me that I have Werther's in my purse from the last time I saw my grandfather.
