That's not a service I would use. Insane. It sounds like they aren't paying their sitters engouh if they are soliciting for TIPS on their website.
Where are you vacationing? I've helped 2 friends visiting my area find sitters when they put out an SOS on FB. It's not uncommon to find help that way. Old elementary school friend who lives in XYZ which is 20 mins from where you'll be, for instance... and you use their sitter.
If you're staying at a large resort outside of the country they often have a sitting service onsite, or can outsource for you.
Yeah that’s a NOPE. I round up, but it seems like maybe they aren’t properly paying their sitters and. Where is your vacation? Depending on location, people may be able to give recs for other options.
I looked at two agencies for the area and they both mentioned tipping. I feel like the sitter is getting the full $25/hr since you pay it directly to them, and that’s pretty decent pay I feel.
I’m going to Big Island. I don’t know anyone there 😕 I was gona post on social media just in the very off chance someone I know knows someone.

I am not tipping on a $25 an hour rate. Sometimes, people round up for my DD, but she only charges $7-8, and comes with the back up of me being home and close by. I have hired babysitters from Starbucks before, especially ones who were students, as well as, teachers who do not have their own kids, from my kids schools. My DD's preK teacher has stayed with my kids many times when DH and I go out of town. DD is 13 now. I have never had a need to travel with a sitter, but if I did, he would be ideal. We have, also, used hotel sitters when traveling and always had beyond exceptional sitters, like the one who taught my kid Asian crafts and how to write her name in Mandarin. We tip the concierge for arranging.
I am an idiot. I thought you were looking for a sitter to travel with you. I think the site, other than the $50 fee, is pretty normal. You are paying for background checks and handling the "find".
