Mom and I booked our hotel, and we are staying in Brooklyn. It’s the perfect location for us for a number of reasons. So I’m looking for suggestions for the following things:
1) Good breakfast joints in Brooklyn, especially downtown/Barclays Center area. I know of a good place in Williamsburg and one in Greenpoint, and I’ll probably take Mom to at least one.
2) A good place for dinner in Brooklyn for our first night.
3) Decent places to eat lunch near the Met Fifth Avenue.
4) Decent place for pre-theater dinner near Lincoln Center.
5) Decent place for a snack/very light meal near theater district. (We are eating a fancy lunch that day, so I don’t think we’ll be super hungry but I’m not sure we want to wait until after the show.)
6) The best pizza - I know this one is very contentious. I’ve already tried Joe’s and Lombardi’s on past trips. Is it Grimaldi’s that is beloved?
Is this trip three months away? Yes. Am I procrastinating everything I need to do by trying to plan every last detail? Also yes!
We only have three days, so I don’t think we’re going to make it up there. I’m planning the schedule but am letting Mom set the priorities because this trip is to celebrate her 70th birthday.
2. Vinny’s of Carroll Gardens has very good Italian food.
5. Amish Market West or the food court at Food Emporium - they have buffets so you can grab as much/little as you want (big variety at FE - pizza, sushi, Salad bar, sandwiches), and they’re also regular markets where you can get fruit or a wrapped snack or whatever. Room Service has good Thai food and the lunch specials are inexpensive. A ton more good places in the theater area on Ninth Avenue.
Y’all ever been to Moe’s Doughs? Also in Greenpoint. Opened by former Peter Pan employee. SO GOOD. When I was there a few years ago, we ate nearly all our breakfasts there. Yum yum.

Ooh, I haven’t yet. My in-laws live in Greenpoint so I’ve been avoiding it lately 🤣
Butting in ---Anyone have a rec for a place to eat dinner near Chelsea Market on Saturday? Or anywhere between there and Midtown? We like craft beer and not crazy expensive.
Breakfast/brunch: Mile End diner (mmmm poutine) Miriam’s (Mediterranean ) Doughnut plant (just doughnuts and coffee) The Little Sweet cafe (it doesn’t have many seats though)
Pizza: Artichoke pizza (not NY style but delicious) Número 28 SAMS PIZZA ON COURT STREET. one of my favorite places in the world.
