I cannot wear contacts. They get too dry and every time I blink they rotate. I tried several kinds. I prefer glasses. I don’t think I’ll ever try contacts again.

I tried contacts in college and my early 20s. They just fall out of the eye that has the astigmatism. Mine isn’t a strong prescription though I expect that will change in the next 10 years based on family history.
I had glasses as a kid until I got contacts at 14. Had LASIK done 15 years ago and that got me to 20/40 and 20/20 vision. Sadly after having two kids about 5 years ago I noticed I had trouble reading my phone. I got glasses and just recently got contacts again. But I don't wear them every day.
BTW, some companies offer a recycling program for daily contacts. You can save the contacts and the containers and ship them in a box.
This is me. I got lasik done about 10 years ago and am back in glasses. I don’t wear them all the time, mostly just to read and drive. I don’t want to do contacts again so I’m not going to go down that road. I might consider it if I find I need the glasses constantly.
No competition for me...I HATE wearing glasses. I have an Astigmatism in my right eye and have been wearing contacts for 30 years. I currently wear Biofinity 1 month disposables.
My eyes got so dry in contacts that I would often not be able to see. I chose to wear glasses before I had Lasik. I had to have eyes checked recently and found that my astigmatism is back although the doctor did not mention it to me. He just happened to leave the card visible for a long time and I could see that I made lots of mistakes that would be related to it.
The toric lenses that you need for astigmatism seem to cause severe dry eye. I could not do daily/weekly/monthly due to my terrible vision, so I do not know if those would have been better.
I have both glasses and contacts. In general, I prefer the contacts but I wear my glasses more out of laziness. My glasses give me headaches when I wear them too long. My eyes do get dry so I can only tolerate Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism lenses and Clear Care brand name solution (not even the generic hydrogen peroxide solution). Mine are every 2 weeks but I change them approximately every 6 weeks since I wear my glasses so much.

I was wearing contacts when I came to the US, they were the hard/permeable ones but in a very dry climate it kinda sucked. So after a couple of years I went back to glasses mostly. I haven’t worn contacts since then. I like the convenience of getting up and putting on my glasses so I can see (I’m blind)and taking them off when I go to bed and I have thought about going back to contacts but I look weird without glasses and I’m lazy. I also have strabismus and so up close I prefer to read without glasses for two reasons....It’s easier and also my eye doesn’t track inward when I take off my glasses for up close. So really contacts would not work for me. I have prescription ski goggles and it doesn’t really matter that they aren’t exactly the same prescription as my actual glasses. I only wear them if it snows. And my dive mask is also prescription (granted I haven’t gone diving since I had my kid) and with those also it doesn’t matter if they’re not exactly the right prescription. There are some minor inconveniences with glasses but I still prefer having glasses over contacts.
I wear glasses almost exclusively. I have a couple of boxes of contacts made specifically for my astigmatism, but I have such bad dry eye issues I rarely wear them (formal events and hot-weather sports when glasses tend to slide down sweaty face, yuck). I have 2 pairs of Rx sunglasses and 3 pairs of frames (my sight hasn't changed in 8+ years), so I can't justify the insane expense of contacts when they make me miserable.

Can you please tell me about the prescription ski goggles? If you are skiing and it is not snowing, are you wearing prescription sunglasses?

So the goggles basically have an insert that are the prescription glasses. Mine are pretty ancient but I bought these for my ex a few years ago and they seemed to work well S4 Optics Rx Insert Snow Goggles (Clear, Clear) www.amazon.com/dp/B003EM5GUK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_39pnEb534R6BT Those say that they work with any goggles. My goggles are a little bigger than average to accommodate the insert but I think they are close to 20 years old so I think it’s changed a little over the years but concept is the same. i have transition lenses so that’s what I wear when it isn’t snowing. With my strong prescription it became very hard to find sunglasses that would work because for most of them that are good for sports they have curved lenses which didn’t work with my prescription anymore (hence my switch to transition lenses). I used to have a pair of Swiss army sunglasses that were great for sports but with my little head and the curved lenses if the frame got adjusted t fit my head the lenses fractured ( I think it was really the polarized layer that fractured if I remember right). Now that also was several years ago and I almost got a pair of Oakley’s about a year ago because my friends kid worked there and apparently those would’ve worked but I never did end doing it. I’m pretty content with the transition lenses because I got really tired of having to carry around sunglasses and then having to switch back and forth all the time
Contacts, but I’m nearsighted, I have drastically different vision in each eye and the astigmatism is in the better eye. No matter what glasses I try they hurt my nose after wearing them all day and I can see better with contacts.
I wear contacts. Mine are monthly, but I wear them until they die or become difficult to keep clean (seem filmy, gritty, etc.). I have backup glasses that I wear at night/on weekends when we're not going anywhere, but glasses drive me crazy. I feel like I'm always looking around them and not through them. I have better sight with contacts.
Same. I wear Acuvue Oasys for Astigmatism.
I find that I can't wear them for quite as long every day as I could when I was younger, and I have to replace them more frequently (but still not biweekly like I'm "supposed" to). But I still hate wearing glasses when I'm out and about. I hate not being able to just put on sunglasses, I hate seeing around the edges, I hate how they slide down my nose and get sweaty when I work out... basically everything. And in my pre-kid life I was a triathlete, which I hope/plan to do again when my kids are bigger. Glasses + triathlon would be a shitshow.
I would love to do lasik and always thought I would post-babies. But I am near sighted in addition to my astigmatism, and as I get older the nearsightedness is lessening and moving toward reversing. The likelihood that I'd end up in reading glasses anyway if I did lasik is holding me back.
I did LASIK pre-babies and am now in reading glasses for farsightedness and my astigmatism getting worse. Womp.
I really hate the waste, but daily contact lenses are such a huge improvement on monthly lenses for me. They are much more comfortable, and I don’t have to worry about getting the left and right lenses mixed up (formerly a big problem for me with monthly lenses!). Obviously, you won’t get infections with a fresh new pair each day.
I also have glasses, and wear them enough that I only buy lenses every other year. This works best with my health insurance, which will only cover one or the other each year. That cuts down on the waste. But glasses are not as comfortable, and not as good for peripheral vision.
