The big kids are off school and we both have off work today for MLK day. We had plans to take DS2 to daycare and the rest of us would go skiing, but DS1 is still low grade after having tested positive for flu B. My husband and daughter went to the mountain and DS2 is at daycare. I’m staying home but might slip out for a trail run this morning since he can stay on his own and isn’t having a high fever. Other than meal prep I have no other major chores or commitments today. Selma has always been on my list to watch so I think DS will watch that today since we have time just together without any distractions.
Weekend was good. DH is still really sick hacking up a lung. We went out to breakfast Sat morning then had a basketball game and date night. We saw the Adam Sandler movie uncut gem based a lot on the babysitter’s schedule. I thought it would be a comedy and it is definitely not. So many bad decisions by the characters in that movie!
Sunday we all went to the gym to play basketball and then came home to watch the playoff games. It was super low key and fun. I like how the kids are older like we went out to eat at a fast casual restaurant no one else was there so the kids sat at their own table. It’s nice to be able to do more things as they get older.
I took today off but my co-worker emailed me that she has to take off Tues morning so I have to cover for her and I have lots to do at work. I wouldn’t have taken today off if I realized they were going to add a bunch of things to my to do list last Thursday.
I might go to the chiropractor today. Not sure what else we will do. DS wanted to do basketball but since we did that yesterday I don’t think we have to do it today. So we’ll see. DH kept mentioning taking them to a kids movie but not sure. I’m like you won’t be here so how about you don’t give input in our plans.

Weekend was good. Normally I run a half marathon this weekend each year but this year I didn't and I was glad. It wouldn't have worked well with what I did at the end of last year. So I went on a bike ride on Saturday, out to dinner with the family on that evening. Then Sunday both DS and DD had a friend over. Normally when just DS (age 8) has his bestie over, they just all play and it's so easy. This time with DD's friend I had to monitor things a bit more and I intervened a couple times. We ended up making slime because the kids needed an activity. It was good and fun but I didn't get all of what I wanted done complete. I was exhausted and so ended up cutting my run short that day. Still a good day.
Today DS has another playdate with two friends all day and DH and DD are coming up to my office for lunch, so before I left the house I set everyone up with their homework that they need to get done for tomorrow so we don't have to do it tonight. Good times.

Weekend was pretty good. We got around 5" of snow by Saturday morning, but roads were passable by the time I had to take DD to her softball clinic at noon. She had a great time and I thought she did well, considering the only time she's played softball is during the short softball camp she did last June for a couple hours a day for 3 days.
Sunday was church and then DH took the kids to a sledding hill with friends. I stayed home from sledding and watched Outlander for an hour, then tried to take a nap. I was exhausted after last week with having to put my dog to sleep, my aunt dying, being offered a new job, and having to put in my notice for my current job.
DH and I both have work today and the kids have school, so it's a normal day for us.
DD (7) and I had a really fun night away in LA. I used points to stay at the Ritz and they threw in free lounge access. After a super insane work week and sick kids last week, it was awesome to relax in style for a night. It would have been better if I had gone when not pregnant so I could have had wine and gone in the hot tub, and if I had been able to sleep past DD waking at 6:28 am, but oh well. DD’s favorite activity of the trip was going to a place where she could decorate her own cake. DS1 turns 6 on Thursday, so she made the cake for him.
No real plans today beyond a workout for me and play date for DD with a friend on our street. Besides DS2 still being a bit snotty, everyone seems relatively healthy again, so fingers crossed for a calmer week.
Home today with the girls since we all have the day off. Had high hopes of going grocery shopping and doing laundry before our afternoon plans but here we are, still in our pajamas. At least I got my yoga workout in.
We're going to see a movie with beau and his son after lunch. This is the romantic level of grown up dating where we haul three kids out in frigid temps to sit in terrible seats because we didn't buy tickets early enough. Still looking forward to it though!

Weekend was good. I hosted a play date with 2 of my book club ladies and their kids. DD played ok with them. She wasn't entirely enthusiastic, but at least no one cried. So I'll take that as a win.
Yesterday was nice and chill. DS discovered that he had misplaced his first baby tooth - he wanted to keep it instead of giving it to the tooth fairy, but somehow misplaced it. He was so upset that he cried for almost an hour. DH and I tried really hard not to laugh, but then the amount of drama/wailing that DS did was just so over the top, with exclamations such as "I'll never get over this! I'll remember this when I'm old! This is the most traumatic thing that has ever happened to me!" that it was hard to keep a straight face. I ended up letting him sleep with us because he was so upset.

Hopefully this was our last "we have an emergency" weekend with the house. Saturday morning we discovered our roof was leaking into my office. It formed a water bubble in the wall and had reached the basement. It was coming in right outside DD's bedroom window upstairs so we could investigate easily. The damn roofer didn't put silicone between the brick and the metal under the shutters. He did everywhere else, but not underneath the shutters on that side of the house. DH called the roofer and it went Roofer: let me guess you have another leak? DH: Yeah. There's silicone missing under the window where theres a big gap. Roofer: sorry about that, I'll try to get over there next week. DH: hangs up without another word
This guys website literally says "emergency services available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week" and he still hasn't shown up from the first leak on the 10th. It also says 40 year warranty, so there's that. On the bright side, FIL said our lath and plaster walls should dry out on their own, but there are stains and huge sections of paint missing. And the fact that my husband who is still recovering from a broken elbow was standing on our not completely flat metal roof in the wind and rain sealing the gaps. I told DH this guy better start caring a little more or I'll go so far as to factor lost wages or DH's medical bills into the the amount of damages. DH is a little scared of me now haha.
Aside from that and then a short lived argument between DH and I after because we were mentally and physically exhausted, we had a decent weekend.
Weekend was okay. The weather was amazing so we did some yard work Sunday. It was pretty relaxing and I got to sleep in both days which I needed.
Our office heat pump froze over the weekend. We turned it off and called the repair guy. He is hoping to make it today and told us to move it to e-heat which won't turn on. I'm freezing but have so much work to do I can't just go home.
DD had to have her sealant repaired this morning and it was a no charge. I was so excited. She is also at work with me because of no school and is walking around in her comfy sweatshirt and a pair of my thick slipper socks. So far she is entertaining her self with snap circuits and solitaire.

The roofer showed up with like a 1 minute warning. He tried to get out of having to repair it for free by saying water was coming in around the windows (no, the inside of those rooms would probably be wet too) and that the original roof is probably the one leaking (but wouldn't the roof you put on have to leak too for that one to leak? Also, there weren't any leaks between when we closed and when the metal was put on). Now I'm waiting on the contractor that is going to repair the wall to come take a look at the damage to give us an estimate.

It's been a good long weekend with DS. We saw my parents and went to a going away party for a coworker. I'm going to miss her because she's so fun to be around and a really hard worker. But she got a transfer to a great location so I'm happy for her. DS and I made a Costco and Target run today. I need to pick up the house before beau comes for dinner tonight.
The good: The weekend was nice overall. Girls night in the tiny house was great, but I’m not used to staying up til 2am anymore. Yesterday was football and we had a good crowd AND we’re going to the Super Bowl, so everyone was happy.
The neutral: We’ve got a new water heater finally. Replacing it had never been on our agenda, so a big expense out of left field sucks. On the plus side, we added an extra 10 gallons to our water tank, so that’s nice.
The bad: DS is still sick. We thought he was on the upswing after a really hard Saturday, but he’s still got a pretty high fever and only wants to sleep. He hasn’t eaten much since Thursday. If he’s still miserable tomorrow, we’ll call the advice line, but hopefully he’s better. We’re supposed to go on a ski trip this weekend.

It was a good long weekend. Girls has horse back riding lessons Saturday and then played with friends and hung with H while I went shopping, mostly window shopping, for kitchen organization ideas. H left for a business trip Sunday and the rest of us went to my parents for a birthday lunch with my dad. Today we ended up on a spontaneous kayaking trip. All good! But yeh kids are super tired now and my house is still mostly messy. Oh well! I am going to try and take care of the worse of it before bed.
It’s going to be a busy short week at work and with H gone until Saturday night so I am having a Monday night glass of wine.

I hope he’s better tomorrow k3am! Germs are going around like wildfire lately. I know we’ve had it. I was coughing so hard last week a coworker tossed a cough drop at me. 😆
My 4 year old came down with a fever last night and started melting in my lap. Which is NOT like him to sit in a lap for more than 30 seconds.
Since DS tested positive for flu but they dont prescribe anything, is there any reason why I should take him to the dr? I’m assuming he has it as well. I guess they track stats or whatever but WWYD?
campermom - unless there was a risk for something like strep, I wouldn’t bother. DD1 had what I assumed was the flu when her strep test came back negative twice (she used to get it a lot when she had tonsils), and I didn’t bother dragging her back out for a flu test. Like you, I figured “what’s the point?” I reported to her school that I thought she had flu, but that it wasn’t confirmed. They were annoyed that I wouldn’t confirm but 🤷♀️.
campermom our pediatrician was out of flu tests anyway, and apparently they only come back positive when actually positive 3/5 of the time. So if I were you I would only go if you notice anything truly concerning - trouble breathing, super high fever, that sort of thing. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this. That was our week last week (two of the three with the flu).
The kids were out of school yesterday. We spent the morning together, then they headed off to MIL to have a silly day. I, on the other hand, took a 4 hr flight to Seattle in the middle seat while having a terrible spasm under my right shoulder blade. I went to the chiropractor Sunday, which helped a lot. I got a chair massage at the airport, which helped too. But I think I may have to find a doc in the box here so I can get muscle relaxers.
Our weekend was good. Low key. Saturday we took both kids to get backup glasses. DS’s have never been comfortable on him, so he resists wearing them. We also had someone else in the store adjust them, and so I think now his old glasses feel better too. Sunday I took the kids to the downtown library, where they often go with their grandma. DS told everybody as we were walking in, “We are giving our mom a tour!” It was very cute.
campermom, if the pedi won’t prescribe anything then I guess no reason to take them in.
The only way I would go in is if I were super wanting Tamiflu and went to a doctor that would prescribe it. A lot of the reason we got it was because we were traveling.
campermom, now that they're not infants, I don't take my kids into the office unless I think there's something they can do for them. I have zero desire to haul my sick kid across town and into a germ infested waiting room risking getting something else in order for them to tell me my kid is sick (duh, that's why I'm there) and to do the things I can read about in their online flyers or from their advice nurse.
In the case of DS, after having 4 days of fever and not eating, we called last night and they had us schedule an appointment for today and told us to cancel if his fever finally broke. Appointment's been cancelled.
He woke up with no fever but I called anyway....mostly just to know what is in store for us this week. Today was the “best” day for me to stay home even though there’s a pretty important meeting this afternoon I will miss, one with a consultant this morning, and working one on one doing stuff I needed to do this am. But the rest of the week is filled with meetings with attorneys or a situation with a high level of risk, so I really need to be there.
thank you! I can’t see the ones beneath my boobs. I don’t even apply anything to those. My scar goes from the outside of my hip, goes across and dips downright on/along the pubic hairline (sorry tmi! At least it’s not a picture!) and to the other outside hip. It curves naturally downward so you can’t see it in bathing suit. I do have the vertical line in the middle that’s about 1.5-2 inches, but it is also covered by most bathing suits. Even if it’s not covered, it’s not very noticeable and will fade.
The line itself is pretty thin. It looks like I drew the width of a magic marker line and It’s not jagged. My surgeon was exceptional compared to most that I see online.
