I'm an SLP, but have been a SAHM the past 9 yrs. I agreed to cover a local school SLP's maternity leave this semester. One of the schools I serve has a nurse who is kind, but inserts herself in everything and my office is right next to hers. Yesterday I was doing a 1 on 1 session with a student. All of a sudden I hear keys frantically inserring in my door and the door swings open. It's the nurse all panicked thinking I was being hurt. We were playing Jenga....

We closed on the sale of my little townhouse this morning. After the realtor commission and fees etc we will made 48k. I paid 90k for it to begin with. This fucking blows my mind.
We are using about half of the proceeds to pay off CC and student loan debt, but are conflicted on what to do with the rest. There's a bunch of home improvements we'd like to do but can't decide whether we should do them now or down the road.

To some extent this also seems a bit like a privacy violation? Say you closed the door for...privacy...she should have to knock and only enter like that if there's no answer? True random: I sat in on a SPL session with my dad and I was fascinated. If you didn't have to go to school for 18 years I'd totally look into that as a career change.
My dad's birthday is this weekend. I'm going one day, my brother's going on the day of. I feel a little bad not going on the day of, but I think 2 visits, over 2 days is better than 1 big visit?
Finally, I'm trying to work a skirt into my wardrobe. I never wore it until DH's friend's funeral a couple of months ago. Now it has that memory, so I'm wearing it at work today hoping to make better memories. Totally irrational.

I’m so embarrassed. The past 2 weeks have been awful and it came to a tipping point today. I cried in front of my director and supervisor then had to rush out to a meeting. I feel like a fool for a) letting things bother me so much b) crying

My therapist gave me “shop for the body you have now” as homework so I went to the mall. What I liked didn’t fit or wasn’t in my size so I left with nothing 😔 Zoloft works great for me but I can not lose weight. I watch what I eat and work out a lot just so I don’t gain. It’s doing nothing for losing baby weight.

Coconut cashews are really good. But not good for you.
I think popcorn is what's been causing me intestinal distress lately.
My kid has only pooped on the potty like 5 times since we potty trained 5 months ago. He thinks doing it in his pants is preferable, I guess. Today I told him if he poops in the potty at school he can go to breakfast tomorrow with my IL's (he's doing this regardless, LOL). The little shit pooped in the potty. Just do it everyday, kid!!!

I also have struggled with my weight in the past few years. I loathed shopping for clothes and hated how I looked in everything I owned. I'm kind of in between regular and plus size and it's hard to find things that fit well and are flattering.
What made the biggest difference for me was going to a store that specifically makes clothes for plus size women (like Torrid/Lane Bryant) as opposed to trying to find the biggest size in the regular section. I had been avoiding plus size stores because I was super depressed and embarrassed about being considered plus size- but women's clothing in XL/XXL just isn't proportioned right and always made me look boxy/frumpy. The day I caved and went to Torrid in search of a dress for a wedding and found MULTIPLE things that I looked and felt great in did wonders for my self-esteem.
I guess what I'm getting to is try not to get discouraged and keep looking. Maybe try a store you normally wouldn't go to. Don't focus on the size on the tag, but how you feel wearing things. Also, you if you haven't yet- go get fitted for new bras. There's something about a well fitting bra that just makes you feel amazing.
@verycontrary Im in between regular & plus sizes So regular stuff is too small but plus is too big. When I looked at torrid online I wasn’t crazy about anything but maybe I just need to look in the store.
@sameoldstory , as someone with chronic knee issues, I'd urge you to get it checked out. I ignored a knee issue for years that wasn't "that bad" but got progressively worse, and it turns out my kneecap hadn't been tracking correctly for years (due to a mild subluxation that didn't show on the MRI at the time of my initial injury). I had massively wrecked the cartiledge in my knee because of this, leading to a nasty surgery, months of recovery, and my knee never being 100% again. When I sprained it in March 2019 it presented like a different injury likely because of my old injury, and I'm still having issues almost a year later.
I don't mean to sound all doom and gloom, but if this has been ongoing and it's suddenly gotten worse, it could be more serious than you think.

DS was acting better so we sent him to daycare. I got a call about an hour later. He had a low fever and had vomited. I took him to the ped: double ear infection.

Helluva first week. My poor kid.
Poor thing. Ear infections can turn so fast. My mom tells the story that she took my sister for her well visit in the morning. My sister woke up screaming from her nap. Major ear infection.
Omfg! Indoor recess all day! And rain. All.day. Long. It was not a fun day. School is out at 2:25 and I worked my butt off to leave at 3:15. It’s a good thing when I can catch the last few minutes of Ellen.

Hugs to everyone having a rough time and going through hard things right now.
My 1 wisdom tooth removal that was scheduled to happen on Wednesday got rescheduled for today so that all 4 could be removed. I am doing good, in manageable pain and resting. I am craving all the foods especially shrimp cocktail and french fries and a huge steak. I had lukewarm chicken broth for dinner and it was good. I in bed watching The Roosevelt’s by Ken Burns and crocheting some granny squares.
We got dd (3) her big girl bed and mattress and unicorn pink bedding. Going to get that set up tomorrow, hopefully.
My throat hurts from surgery and now I can grumble and sound like Marge Simpson.

Maybe try Loft online. They have a plus size section that starts at 14. That might give you that little extra room without going huge/boxy. I am a little larger but I find their clothes to fit really well. They also have some classic pieces as well as current trendy stuff. Don't pay full price. They always have big sales.

Shopping is the worst because obviously no one piece of clothing is going to fit everyone! I'm petite but busty, so I end up with small or medium tops (depends on the vanity sizing) that fit my shoulders, but are never long enough. It's so frustrating!
The best piece of advice I ever learned was to find a good tailor - I buy most of my clothes with the intention of having them tailored to fit better. It makes such a huge difference - particularly on tops that are otherwise boxy, pants that are gape in the waist, etc.
