My H got a text for me but to his phone number from Bernie, which made us both confused, as neither of us support him and he shouldn't have either of our names or numbers.
I'm still planning to vote for Warren (I'm in WA, so we vote the week after Super Tuesday), but my first name is Amy, and I kind of want to buy an Amy for America shirt.
The only ads I see are Bloomberg’s and I still forget he’s in the race. Who are these people who support him?
Me too. I think he must have a massive advertising budget. His ads are very direct about what Trump is doing wrong and what he is going to change. I’m not a fan but when I heard he was running I was like why couldn’t he have run against him the first time for all those people who thought a businessman was so much better than a politician. 🤢 I’m not going to be surprised if he comes from behind and does well.
Has anyone done this? Maybe it’s the questions they ask, but I feel like a lot of the candidates are very similar when comparing these items. They also kind of skew the answers when there’s extreme stances vs slightly less extreme stances on policies.

I can't tell if you are being TIC here... his advertising budget is basically whatever he wants it to be. He's a billionaire (net worth over $50 billion) and he's self funding. He's pissing a lot of people off because they view all his rampant personal spending as buying his way into the race.
I think it’s very possible people like Pete because he is not someone who has been in Washington for 100 years. And let’s not forget our current disaster of a President was elected without any political experience.
I am a moderate and I am sick to death of basically all lifelong Washington politicians at this point. I don’t think I’m alone in that sentiment. I also have no idea who I am voting for in our primary.
I think it's possible *white people* like Pete because he reminds them of the status quo. He reminds them they're not that bad, couldn't possibly be racist, and why can't everyone just get along?
Not just this, but they can also remain passively homophobic but it’s ok because they have a “gay friend” (candidate.) Theyre basically progressive!

FYI it’s not at all odd that campaigns people don’t support or financially support are contacting you. The DNC uses shared databases that candidates and campaigns use to decide who to canvas based on a lot of factors. And the campaign chooses certain parameters (reach out to voters who only vote every 4 years or only every 2 versus every year, those who are moderate Republicans or only solid democrats, etc). I believe some of their data comes from FB data mining and google and such (which is creepy as fuck) and some simply comes from voter history, which is publicly available.
I think Bloomberg wasn’t on the ballot in New Hampshire.
He was on the ballet. I remember being like “wtf?! There are 20+ names on here?! Who are all these folks?!” And recognized like legit 7, one of which was Bloomberg.
@@@@ My apologies!!
I took DD in with me and she was like "why is the list so long?!"
Bloomberg is paying field organizers $6000 a month!!!!!!!!!
Honestly if I were 23 and had a BA, I’d take that fucking money and try to just fake it and actually vote for someone else. $72k/year as a field organizer? Fuck man. How do you say no?

When it was Superbowl I read something that said if you compare his net worth and the amount he spent on his super bowl ad to an average US family net worth it was comparable to buying a pizza for dinner. 😲

NPR (maybe?) Was saying old folks love Pete because he is an idealized version of what they think young people should be.

Honestly I tried to convince DH to take a sabbatical to go work for Bloomberg. He is paying some of our friends close to 400k to lead state field operations!!!! He declined because he wants to see us or something (whatever lol)
For what it is worth, back when we were on campaigns a state field organizer made 5k a month.
Although I have heard people arguing this provides a stage to open up a black agenda & surround himself by the right people to combat this past, racist thinking from lack of exposure. Ehhh. We don’t need another male, white billionaire in the WH who thought this way less than five yrs ago is the bench on which I currently sit.
If Bernie gets the nomination, I will obviously want him to beat Trump, but can you even imagine how insufferable the Bernie Bros will be then? "Seeee?!?!? If we had just nominated Bernie in 2016 he would have won!" OMG

I'd take it easily. Which is funny in conjunction with erose trying to needle me in the post above.

That is more than twice what I made as a first-year teacher with a Master’s. Wow.

It’s not just that he’s paying more—he’s actively recruiting people from existing campaigns. It’s gross. He’s gross.
I especially hate how all these Moms leaders are endorsing him. there’s no way that’s not conflated with their feelings/trauma around gun violence. For some, he funded an organization that saved their lives. It’s disgusting how he is exploiting that.
I’m almost at the point where I need Moms to divest fully from him in order to consider my volunteer work.
I worry about Amy's relative lack of vetting. We already know of *some* skeletons in her closet, even if they may be largely misogynistic in nature, but we really don't have a lot else on her.
I want to like her, but I cannot get past the tales of abusing her staff.
Especially when there is a highly competent, kind, and respectful woman in the race.
I think we are only hearing this narrative because she's a woman and thus supposed to be "nice". She's the boss. She's allowed to be tough. I imagine there are dudes in the race who act the same way and no one says boo about it.
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

I have just enough ties to people who work in Dem politics to say this: I believe both that the stories about Amy are true and that the coverage of them is sexist. I believe she is not the only one who mistreats and abuses staff. I also believe the stories that have been reported about her, and those give me great pause about her ability to be a compassionate and effective leader.
My armchair psychologist take is that her behavior is likely shaped - but not excused - by her father’s alcoholism. I imagine that growing up around that kind of chaos has probably contributed to her need to exert absolute control. She probably needs LOADS of therapy.
All that said, I’d still take her over Bernie because she has a better track record of getting things done.

ehhhh...I don't know about that. She is/was legitimately abusive towards staff. Pretty sure we have a poster here who confirms based on personal knowledge. And maybe we only know that because she is a woman, but that doesn't change the fact that it is true. There are some staffers who feel like it has been unfair coverage, because there aren't stories about when she is nice to them...but anyone who has had an abusive boss knows that they can be nice one minute, and awful the next...or sometimes some people only get the nice. I don't doubt that she has been a good boss to some, but there is no excuse for throwing things at your staff or publicly humiliating them.
Yeah. Even Rachel Bitecofer, of the optimistic electoral map, said Bernie will be the most challenging. He’ll ultimately depress turnout in key demographics.
We had a conversation with a moderate colleague last week who I thought had some sense, but he said he would vote Trump over Bernie. I don't think he is alone.
I know SO MANY people in NH who voted for Pete and Amy, but they voted for Trump in 2016. They have all been quite clear that they will vote for him again over Bernie. I wish the Bernie nuts would get this through their thick skulls.
