I work for a small transmission shop. Not closing here. My employers are fairly conservative and don't necessarily agree with our governor. I am just trying to come up with contingency plans if I need to be quarantined myself as I am the office manager and my employers wife who could do the bookkeeping in my absense is stuck in AZ. So just trying to plan for worst case scenario.
Other than that, business is actually up ticking right now, probably because everyone figures since they are stuck at home right now, they dont necessarily need their vehicle if it has to be in the shop for a week.

I work at walmart. I'm less than thrilled at the moment, because everything else has been shut down, and people are stupid, so they will all come to the store. I'm gonna be pissed if my boss gets sick. She's 73 and the best manager ever.
They actually closed all of the courts but for one courtroom in each region that is operating half a day for emergency matters only. The court relevant to my assignment is shut down entirely. Our office is now closed to the public, including crime victims.
Yet all employees are expected to come in as usual. 100+ people in my building. There is absolutely no reason for all of us to be there at the same time under the current circumstances. Oh, but we're now allowed to dress business casual as a perk! 🙄
I hope the employee unions start escalating things.
NY Courts shut down and that was huge. My BIL who works in Criminal Supreme Court is home now. He NEVER thought he’d see this day.
Are you in a union?
I'm in inland SoCal. Yes, we are unionized. Admin put out the email after 5pm yesterday, so I expect the union will start planning its next steps today.
I never thought I'd see the day either. I think the office heads see some type of heroism in staying open no matter what, but that is the opposite of heroic right now.

I hope you get to stay home soon. I would understand if you all had essential functions, but if your courts are shut down then that is just ridiculous that they have you still showing up.
My supervisor is pushing hard to allow us to work from home. I really hope we get approval.
We don’t want to stop coming to work altogether because the high risk community need our services. But we now have confirmed community spread cases in our county. Our specific unit can theoretically do the every thing virtually anyways. I don’t want to spread rumors and i have no official proof to back it up, but I think one of the cases is in the city I work next to the city I live in.
I think public health wise, we All need to be staying home to slow the spread as much as possible. I’m disappointed with how it’s being handled in my office. Sure we need to do our jobs, that’s why working from home should get approved. Worst case scenario, we’re going to have to all be sent home and we won’t even get our jobs done. It doesn’t make sense to me.
ETA: Also, what gets my goat is that one reason a manager is saying we aren’t working remotely is that they can’t track if we’re actually working right now. Um, we’re adults. We don’t need babysitters to get our job done. Well, most of us...
I work for a tech company and they finally told us today that we can work from home if it is possible to do so. Our supply chain from China is already messed up, and our largest customer are not in their offices. It works for now, but I am very worried about the financial aspects for the entire world.

I was let go today. I got an extremely small package. I’m not planning to do anything at the moment. I am going keep everything crossed they call me back.
I can’t actively look for employment as everything is shutdown.

what I dont understand is are companies actually FIRING people? why not just suspend or send home until business as usual. I am having a hard time understanding.

My technical separation was “laid off due to lack of work.” Nashville is being hit with lots of layoffs. My industry is typically the first to be hit. When bands don’t tour and shows don’t go on I have no work.

Because by firing someone it opens them up to a lot of services through unemployment. Would you rather be suspended no pay and then let go 3 months from now?

Ahh see I knew I was missing something. There had to be a reason I was just not seeing it.
I’m in the National Guard and we’ve been told to prepare for an indefinite activation. I also work in retail banking and I’m worried about the economy. We’re not only working but covering for lots of branches.
I work at a large call center. There are 98 people who work in the room I do. Thrn there are two more rooms with over 40 people. So far the response had been start home if you have a cough or cold and use your sick time (3 days a year) and then if you are diagnosed with COVID19 or otherwise quarantine then you get two weeks of pay and most call to discuss if you need additional time.
The other thing they have dinner was'deep clean' which I don't believe some I saw a roach and the walls were sticky when I tripped.
We have no business either since we do car maintenance, repairs and sell cars.

Damn, MW. I’m so sorry. Let me know if I can help in any way.

Because if they are actually laid off then they are able to apply for unemployment.

We are good for now. I am more worried about coworkers. Some of them had home damages from the tornados. Most are single income families. I’m extremely thankful I even got a small package. I applied for unemployment as soon as I got home. I wanted to get the ball going.
Boss is still breezy. He lives at the other end of the state and commutes and stays here M-Th. He’s finally home from his CA vacation (5 days of which in SF!) and he’s planning on coming down on Monday. My coworkers and I talked about it and we’re going to call him today and ask him to wait at least a week. He doesn’t *need* to be here. He can VPN and call us. He’s too breezy for his own goddamn good.

BTW- how are you? Kids?
They are doing really well- we are homeschooling DD1 so she is annoyed that she doesn’t get the next 6 weeks off from school too. DD2 is really coming into her own and finding ways to turn her leadership skills into an asset and DS started kindergarten this year. He’s still working on his global motor delays, but kinder has been great for him. How are yours?

Still in the office and still annoyed AF. The owner of the company is literally walking around making jokes. There are 3 of us (out of 25 office employees) who have signs on our closed door that say "Social Distancing (as REQUIRED)...please call or email to talk to me" and the owner things it's funny to open our doors and stand there just to BS. I'm furious. If it wasn't for the uncertainty of H's new job, I'd say fuck it and work at home until they fire me.

Same for my courts. No dockets, but our office is still open to the public. Our county judge keeps going live on Facebook to announce these guidelines people should be following, yet the 80 of us in my office are chugging along like it's any other day.
My office finally allowed us to start working from home! We're allowed to do so until the day before the courts are currently scheduled to reopen, which might be extended depending on how things are in 2 weeks. I was previously scheduled off through today, but am heading in to get my laptop and some projects.
Still in the office. I was told yesterday that the reason Owner doesn't want to go to WFH is he "won't know for certain if we're ACTUALLY working or not." Motherfucker, I am busy as shit. If I don't work, trust...you'll know it. What a shitty attitude.
