TWERK #1: Remember my crazy mom getting lost eleventy times on her trip up here, necessitating people rescuing her, several hotel stays, and 10 hours of driving taking closer to 48? Where she was insisting nothing was wrong? We finally forced her to see a neurologist (which.. we started on in March, but CV got in the way) and he gave her a cat scan. Turns out the woman has had two silent strokes at some point, which have symptoms of memory issues, blurry vision, limb weakness, confusion, etc. and explains SO MUCH. Next step up is a return visit to the neurologist with one of my sisters accompanying her. (My oldest sister went last time, but do to CV, they wouldn't let her in.)
TWERK #2: After years of me nagging, my company FINALLY stepped up it's game and gave me some additional stock options. In our region, it's crazy that they don't do it in general, but it's basically company wide that if you're not very senior, you don't get it. My old company was grants, which I'd prefer, but it's better than a kick in the shins..
DDOT: My week goes like this...
Me: I can't get any work done since DH is always too busy working to help with the kids. Also me, when DH has a holiday off work today: Long shower, late to start working, keeps popping down to help with the kids...

I laughed at Blursday. I am staring at the contents of my fridge but I want to eat none of this. I’m listening to my big kid tell riddles to other kids for her end of year “school party” Zoom call. It’s my day off but I am logged in to work anyway and am attempting to do some it. The 5 year old yells that she bored.
Yesterday I worked on the patio all day just so I didn’t have to share an office with my husband. He’s great, we are lucky to have a home office, but I am used to him traveling at least 25% of the time and it’s so much togetherness.

Oh! I have to brag about this somewhere. Yesterday my kids did no schoolwork (it’s winding down here)and no chores BUT they also ignored H and I and played nicely all day, asking only for lunch, and we got so much work done!
1. DH built a play pen onto the two story, netted, already has a cage and grass around it turkey coop. He also added a ladder to the second story...because of course.
2. My job just keeps building skills. I had to send communication in Spanish yesterday. Thankfully, the letter attached was done by our translator. However the body of the email was my 2 years of high school Spanish, I year of college Spanish, and Google translate. I must of made some type of sense, because I asked for something and they sent back what I needed.

I am crash prepping for a Memorial Day Murph at our gym tomorrow. The gym is closing so it is our last hurrah. I am way less ready this year than I was the first time I did it in 2018. So today might be the last time you all hear from me lol. Our garage gym is off to a good start though. We scored quite a bit of equipment from the gym.
My niece was born a few hours ago. Jury is out on when I'll meet her. My mom said my brother and SIL are fine with my family coming around but I'm not sure if I am fine with it.
I mentioned a few days ago that I hate selling insurance over the phone. I may have sold a $12K account over the phone this week so even though I hate it, I might be okay at it. This one may help me close another that is double the size that I have been working on for months so I will be absolutely thrilled.
I just sent an email to the principal, following up on the conversation I had with her almost 2 weeks ago about next year's safety plan and the stupid "why I like you" videos that DD1 might have to shoot for her bully.
I added a section to the email about how the school should use their excellent distance learning program as a selling point. I tried to be diplomatic, but my email was basically "Your website stinks, it makes the school look dated. You guys were on the cutting edge with your LMS, and your staff was able to shift to remote learning in less than 48 hours. Market the crap out of that. Let me help you do it." I hope it came out the right way. No need to further alienate her...
campermom I hope you are doing okay today big internet hugs
rere I'm totally laughing my head off on your turkey condo thanks I needed a good laugh
TWERKS: I started boxing up all of DH's grandmother's crystal/china last weekend. I need to go buy 3 more totes to finish packing it away and then DH needs to rearrange the attic storage area and get the neighbor to help him put it up. I'm so excited to get it out of the living area of our house. 10 years of that china and crystal sitting in our house and he refuses to let me use any of it not that it is my style but there are a few cute vases.
DD did her rural community for this weeks distance project. I sent a picture off to her teacher for proof of work. Today is supposedly furlough day for the entire district (the next 4 Fridays). Her teacher responded to my post in less than an hour with feedback. So I can see some teachers are like whatever district you can't make us stop teaching.
DDOT: I’ve started dressing more for work, and I think it’s helping me be more productive. So I’m ordering more sundresses because those have become my go to. I’m rarely hot, but the room where I work gets stuffy and borderline hot. So the sundresses are comfortable and I can put a little cropped cardigan over them for video calls. I’m particularly loving some billowing maxi dresses.
I also bought pull on jeans. I haven’t gained any weight but on days when I wear jeans the waistband bugs me.
The turkey's are getting big, so I guess the need for more space? The jury is still out on the sex, but we are guessing 2 boys and 2 girls. There are no plans to eat the turkeys, and I really have not idea why they are here. They seem happy, if turkey's can be happy, and they are liking the second story.
A good news update-on our COVID briefing today, the first mention of starting to plan for mass vaccination was made. It was also reported that the state is already working on plan on how to vaccinate. This gave me hope that hopefully at some point soon, we will be moving away from crisis mode and into planning to vaccinate the population. Who knows what my job will be in that phase.
rere- my med and public health friends are really optimistic that we will be vaccinating for this in the fall. And they were originally on the “no freaking way it’ll happen before next spring” train. So I’m feeling optimistic too.
rere, mommyatty, that's interesting.. we did DS's 4 year appointment via video conference today, and his doctor said that based on their research, he's not confident that there will ever be an effective vaccine and it will end up much the way of the flu (comes/goes seasonally and vaccines are hit and miss with efficacy.)
I am mentally planning for what he's mentioned, and would love to be pleasantly surprised if better happens.
k3am- I’ve definitely heard it’ll be like the flu vaccine. But I would take that because even in miss years, a flu vaccine means even if you get the flu you will have a much less severe case and a much lower chance of serious impacts. They just don’t know yet how much or how quickly this virus will mutate.
k3am, Even if it comes the way of the flu, if they have something that lessens the effect of the virus, we can at least get back to normal. I've always said a vaccine or treatment to lessen the severity and get us where we can interact with each other again.
DD's camp at the science center was just cancelled. I haven't told her yet, but I know she will be bummed. I might be able to get her into a camp later in the summer, but who knows what covid will do.
We also just got an email from the school district for returning school property and picking up locker items. Next week is the last week of school. This relieves a lot of stress that came with home schooling, but now what do we do with these kids for the summer?
PDQ Aw thanks guys, you are so kind. Yes I have a lot of hope. POOF.
k3am I'm sorry to hear that she had strokes but this totally makes sense and I've been thinking about the situation lately and wondered how she's doing.
also rere the turkeys are giving me life so keep the updates coming. Did you name them? My sister named all her chickens after Game of Thrones and calls them "her girls".
Details: returning to work in person 4 hour shifts 4 days a week. Work from home the rest.
Babysitter 8 hours a day for 4 days a week. I want to be out of the way of babysitter and kids.
Options bedroom- Open blinds bring up ugly desk that would be in the way a little.
Sunroom- no desk and no room for one, working on my lap, where the family hangs out at night, glass doors that close. TV in there might be nice to watch something while doing mindless tasks but the kids will see and that will cause problems.
Living room- totally open to kids.
Dining room- we use the table for meals. I typically do computer work in the couch and calls at the table for a higher surface.
Basement- desk down there already, but it’s cold and the kids playroom is down there. Not my favorite option. Cats litter box is down there and can get smelly (even with cleaning).

waverly, I feel like the bedroom would probably be the best.
We have been really struggling this week. My work is just insane. Due to working on projects that are in Europe and Asia, in addition to my normal North America coverage, I have work calls at all hours of the day and I just feel like I'm never off.
Since it has been pouring almost all week, the kids have been mostly stuck inside, and DH is just yelling at them tons. Not that I blame him - they have been difficult.
waverly I would do bedroom and get yourself a new desk you’re excited about and that fits well. Any chance you have a closet in the bedroom where you could shut the door and hide the desk when not in use? That has worked really well for me.
You guys.. we are taking advantage of my “essential” categorization and both kids are enrolled for daycare starting 6/1 for DS and 6/8 for DD (school goes through 6/4).
It is such a relief. It is not DD’s ideal “summer camp” (what rising second grader wants to go to daycare?!?!) but since summer camps aren’t happening here, we’re all okay with it. As okay with it as we can be, anyways.
Woohoo k3am! DH and I are technically in an essential industry too if we open with restrictions. DS2’s daycare opens 6/1 and I’m like 75% sure our ymca day camps will open 6/15, so I can’t wait to have everyone back someplace on 6/15!

It did not occur to me that my brother may need me to help him with work next week. My mom casually mentioned him getting a work call regarding my favorite client and he had a baby that was 3 hours old and trying to take it. I ordered him to let me take it off his plate for my SIL's sake. He's been having some anxiety troubles so I know that hasn't been fun for her. Got the issue handed off to his agency owner and the owner thanked me for letting him help. I'm still being bought out so I don't mind helping out here and there and his owners don't either. Plus his office is in his barn now so I don't have to worry about being around the baby.
Thanks I ordered this. This will allow me to float from bedroom to balcony to sunroom depending. I think I’ll try to start in my bedroom, but for calls I might still need the sunroom. Who wants to see someone’s bed on zoom? My computer/ walls don’t support backgrounds very well.

DH tales calls from wherever with no shame, but lately has been taking them from DD’s room in her bed. With a nice purple background. (Her room is the only one without windows to the back of the house.. and our neighbors have spent two weeks jack hammering. And tree removing. And all kinds of other noisy stuff.)
