Oh-I forgot one huge advantage for us...we get to go around to different placed and we still bring our dogs so that we don’t have to pay a zillion dollars to board them every time.
Our 32ft trailer is paid for and now sits more than it gets used. When we were making payments on it I felt like we had to use is X number of times to offset the payments. We can have 4 adults, 1 kid, and 3 labs in the camper and not be stepping on each other which is really nice. That being said I really hate camping. It is a ton of work and my DH mindset is that he hooked it up and drove it to where ever and unhooked it so his job is over and he wants his vacation time while I do all the work. (that is how it worked in his family his whole life dad and kids played while mom dealt with the chores) We now only go with a group which means we share cooking duties so I get at least 1 night off. I just find that I spend more time cleaning, sweeping, and doing household chores than sitting back relaxing.
When DD travels for gymnastics and has the 8am timeslot taking the camper down the night before and just parking it in the parking lot is really nice and way cheaper than getting a hotel or waking up at 4am.

Is there such a thing as a camper with a regular sized bathroom? A private, clean bathroom (and air conditioning) is really the only part of a camper that interests me. Do they make just a bathroom on wheels?

we had a vintage camper for two years. It was really fun. We sold it when we moved. A lot of the stuff has been covered. I think when people visualize camping they think of the romanticized version of it. People would stop my husband and i all.the.time and ask us about our "sweet, tiny camper!" and then kind of tell us how awesome they thought it was and how they envisioned themselves LIVING in such a thing. Guys. the camper was 13 feet long from hitch to bumper and my 6'3 husband had to scrunch down to walk around inside of it. He had to scrunch in the tiny bed lol It was perfect for 5'6 me but each time someone mentioned living in it full time I wanted to laugh out loud! You have to figure out all these logistics with campers and then camping. But once you get the hang of it (it takes probably 4 times) it's pretty easy and really fun.
We have a roof top tent now. It really allows a lot of freedom of movement but the bed is super uncomfortable.
If I had extra money I'd totally get a sportsmobile. Our friends have one and we have camped with them. Those things are legit.

The full bath in my parents' RV is pretty dang nice! The actually sink may be a bit smaller/not as deep as a residential sink, but there is more counter space than I have in our master bath at home! Their shower stall is large for a camper (about the size of a smaller residential walk-in shower). I found it to be the most comfortable of any that they've had - and I HATE camper showers (tiny, easy to get water everywhere or accidentally bump the door open).

Bonus - there's a half bath as well.
I guess I should have specified- I don’t want the rest of the camper, just the bathroom haha. I’d rather sleep in a tent.

My friends just got a super nice camper complete with kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. She said you take Navy showers if you're not hooked up to a camp site. They keep it at their cousins house. As others have said you have to think about where you'll keep it and if you'll need a trailer and/or vehicle to move the camper? The one my friend uses requires a lot of gas, so that's another expense.
I don't camp, but the idea of not paying *as much* as a hotel to go to the beach more would be awesome. I've heard from a lot of people that you have to book good camp sites a year in advance, so just keep that in mind depending on your flexibility with PTO.
Do we have any tall camper enthusiasts? My husband is 6’5” and I just assume he won’t fit well. I think renting one would be fun otherwise.
My husband is also 6'5" We shopped around a lot (RV shows) to find the brands that he could stand up in & a bed he could sleep in. We have a Palomino Solaire 268BHSK. It has a curved ceiling, so it is higher in the center of the trailer and he can stand up straight (barely!). The bed has enough space to walk all the way around 3 sides, so while his feet hang off the end of the bed if he stretches out, there isn't a wall there to block him. We also made sure the shower area had a skylight to give extra head room in there.
All I can say is that the day my parents ditched the tent (our annual family vacation was two weeks of camping) and bought a pop up camper was one of the happiest days of my life.
