I need ham like water Like breath, like rain I need ham like mercy From Heaven's gate Sometimes ham salad or casserole or ham that’s free range, all natural I need ham
I was on furlough for ~8 weeks and used that opportunity to see family outdoors. I'm back working in a hospital now (RN) so I'm back to avoiding as many interactions as I can.
While I was off we did see family at a lake cabin and I really felt guilty the whole time. My H and I pretty much stayed home the 2 weeks before/after (went golfing once) to minimize any risk but I still felt like we shouldn't have done it. We also saw family at outdoor activities but I felt ok with that. I used a mentality similar to the WW points referenced above and was honest about every interaction I had in the weeks before seeing anyone
I have 2 surgeries scheduled for the fall and winter and may need some family assistance during that time, I'm hoping we can just order everything in to limit interactions in case I do need to see family. I'm also hoping that if we all are home that maybe we can see each other (immediate family only) around the holidays but who knows where we will be then. Also, after my last surgery I got sick 4x in 6 weeks so I'm going to be a little worried about my immune system being down.
ETA: we also quit the gym and have been doing home workouts. I'm hoping we can get a bike to add in cardio as the weather gets worse. Also, am I reading only one who still can't find weights? I need some heavier ones and still can't find any.
We are being almost as conservative as we were when all of this started, except that I have actually left our property and we have gotten takeout a few times.
We are in FL, we are both 60+, and I have agoraphobic tendencies that feed on all of this. I also have a history of chronic illness, with practically anything/everything affecting my lungs. Our home with a courtyard and separate office building (DH has been wfh for around 5 years) makes a nice fortress.
I have gone to Whole Foods twice during senior hours, and was comfortable with that, but I usually place orders gor delivery online or DH goes if we need something that isn't available to order online. DH does Costco runs and loves going during senior hours....he normally hates to shop there. He also does all pet prescription and pet food pickups, CVS shopping and other random errands, but we keep all of that to a minimum.
I had a broken tooth and needed a crown, so I went to the dentist twice, and we went indoors at the veterinarian when it was time to say our final goodbyes to our fluffy pup in July. Both places had great protocols in place to keep everyone safe. We early voted last month, and were impressed with the steps they took to keep the workers and voters safe.
I miss going to Disney, and the thought of going gives me panic, but I am really impressed with the measures that they have taken and might be willing to go to Epcot for Food &Wine in ther next month or so. I think DH made reservations at the park for the day of our anniversary, just in case.
I also really miss live theatre, but obviously that isn't happening anytime soon. Thev thought of going to the theatre now is much more panic inducing than walking around/eating outdoors at Epcot. One of the local theatres is offering some virtual performances and in the spring they are planning to offer live stream subscriptions of their new shows.
bittybomb, I’m sorry to hear about T1D diagnosis, that’s so stressful. My mom’s boss’s daughter has T1D, I could ask her if she has any resources she’d recommend to a family, if you want. Her boss is seriously the nicest person I’ve ever met so I’m sure she wouldn’t mind forwarding information.
Oh thank you! That’s so sweet of you to even offer. I feel we are in a good place finally. It was incredibly overwhelming in those first few days, but I feel like we have now gotten into a good routine. One of my good friends from work has a 12 year old niece who was diagnosed at age 5 so I’ve been in contact with her sister (who uses the same endo’s office as we do now) who has been tremendously helpful. I just want to put my daughter in a bubble until covid is gone 😂🤷🏻♀️

I've gotten less conservative. I have a quaran-team of 3 friends who exercise the same level of precautions. We get together once a week at each other's homes. We have a strict trust that anyone who thinks they're at risk will take 2 weeks away from the group.
I go to work most days of the week, but I only interact with a couple of people regularly. DH and I have eaten in restaurants a couple of times a month, but we've also left places that look too crowded. We try to sit outdoors whenever possible and wear masks when we interact with servers/hosts. I go to stores pretty regularly, but again, I'll leave if it looks crowded. I'm super diligent with masking and sanitizing.
