We got a new pre-lit tree this year. Up until now, we've had a fake tree that you had to string lights on yourself, so we had a star tree topper that plugged into the lights. Now there's no where to plug in the star on the new tree.
I got a battery-operated star with a remote, but H hates that the remote isn't wireless, so you have to dig into the tree to find the remote to turn on the star. Even though I'd be the one turning it on.
Can you string an extension cord down the tree and plug that in?
One tree has a star that doesn’t light up. A second tree has a gold decorative thing. It was my mother’s and is prob 40 years old. I don’t know how to describe it, but it’s pointy.
We’ve never had a topper (probably bc I’m not good at decorating. I sometimes like them on other people’s trees). I like the look of ours without a topper a lot.
Usually there’s a place to plug it where the middle and top lights connect. I’ve also done the extra cord thing for an older tree- I plug that into the cord that has the on/off button (or the cord that goes into the smart plug).
We have a mirrored starburst thing. The mirrors pick up the lights (even more so when we have the lights switching between clear and multi) for some sparkle.

Lol. I had forgotten that last time I had a tree I broke the topper and never replaced it. So yesterday I went to a dollar store to find some cheap bows figuring I could jury rig something this year. I don’t normally glitter but I found sparkly bows that have a Santa feel to them, bought 2 and attached them back to back and threw it on top of the tree. It took about 15 seconds. Last night as I’m getting ready for bed I find glitter all over my boobs inside my bra. Glitter is the worst and literally gets on everything!

I don't have a pre-lit, but i got a battery operated light up star that has a timer option, so I turned it on when i turned on my tree lights and now it will go on whenever that is and stay on for so many hours (6 or 8 I think).
We just started to have a light-up star within the last few years. Previously, I had a shiny gold star that didn't light up. When I was little, we always had an angel. It didn't light up, either.
Our main tree has a mirrored starburst thing and doesn’t light up. The upstairs tree has a pre-lit star but the lights don’t work on that tree so I have to put lights on it myself. I start at the top so the female end is convenient for plugging in the star.
We have a glittery gold star. Because of the glitter, it reflects the lights on the tree (and we have lights hanging on the wall above the tree, too) so it sparkles. Not the same as having one that is lit up, but I think it looks nice.
We have DH’s grandparents old school light up star. We have to snake an extension cord up the tree since we can’t plug it in to the fancy connector boxes the LED lights on the tree use.
We got a Moravian star the first year we got married- it was very important to H. Lol. I’ve never had a tree topper that lights up so I’ve never even thought about that.
