She assaulted a young Black teen, I'm not at all surprised that she shushed Gayle King. I'm glad that Gayle King wasn't putting up with her non-sense and called her out multiple times.
I first heard about this case because my partner knows the dad of the teen, and I was hoping they'd find her since there was pretty clear evidence and she was a hotel guest and traumatized them.
I don't mean to pry and obviously this is none of my business, but do you know how the teen is doing?I can't imagine how upsetting this must be for him.

I’m not sure, I’ll have to ask him. I know they got a lot of support so hopefully that’s at least helping.
One of my good friends was living in Southern California (Orange County) for a couple of years and she just moved her whole family to rural Maine. She watched this and said *that* kind of behavior is why. She didn't want her kids around it.
Is her family white? Because if not I don’t know that moving to Maine is not going to bring her what she is looking for in the way her family is treated.
Hearing that she had to be dragged out of her car when they arrested her for this was rich. Also, fuck this "mental issues" response and then saying it's anxiety. I've had GAD and I never assaulted anyone nor falsely accused them of any crimes.

Yes I find this completely offensive. I have a kid with OCD and GAD and to use that as an excuse for assaulting a black child is disgusting. My daughter has had some seriously panicked moments in her life but would have never assaulted someone because of it.

They are. Her brother already lives where they went.

m Glad she already has knowledge of the area. Can be quite a culture shock!! My parents moved there when I was in my early 20s.
You think the Daily Beast is lying in their article? Not sure how reputable they are. Looks like she reported similarly to tmz. But even Gayle said the lawyer tried to get her to take off the hat and during the interview you can see the lawyer trying to get her to kind of calm down, but she ignores it. All seems plausible to me, but I'm not a lawyer.

Also once it returns to cbs this morning Gayle talks about the rest of the interview (which will air on Monday) and how the lawyer tries to redirect/guide the girl and she shuts her down.

What I’m trying to say is that it is nuts that she would be defending someone and yet publicly make statements that damage her client. So she can’t possibly be continuing to defend her.

I can't speak for NewOrleans, but the interview also struck me as odd. If I had a client who was apparently so challenging I'd withdraw from representation rather than give an interview complaining about them and making armchair diagnoses. To me, it's weird to be like "let me tell this internet magazine how much I hate this client." She wasn't court appointed, so she can fire the client. Just quit. Or don't take racist asshats as clients in the first place.

Ahh ok got it. So you think she's no longer her lawyer? I think that's different then it not being real. I misunderstood what you meant.

Yes the whole thing is bizarre and messed up. It just totally seemed plausible that the lawyer said the client is unruly because you can see in the interview that she's trying to redirect her and Gayle mentions the same thing. But yes I agree that's likely unprofessional and she should just stop being her lawyer. But I guess it seemed real to me! But of course I could be totally wrong and the reporting could be false.

Yeah. I have no reason to doubt the reporting of the Daily Beast. But I side eye that lawyer for many reasons. Ha!

Gayle King was so professional in that interview. I think other reporters would have lost it at some point. She showed that woman grace she did not deserve. I'm glad Gayle brought things around to the boy and reminded this woman she assaulted a child and that he is left likely terrified. Also, trying to drive home that a missing phone does not warrant the reaction of this woman. There is no tape of the Dad assaulting this woman. So what if there were. If you lay hands on a child a parent or bystander should be able to protect them.

Most definitely to the last part. My son is almost 14- 5'9 and 170 lbs. He looks older than he is and could probably defend himself. But if you moved to attack him, I would lay hands on you because he is a child. A child who did nothing wrong but be in the wrong place at the wrong time. I can't believe she is still trying to accuse the dad of hurting her.
