Also on the visiting ILs part- we apparently are back to normal times.
They said they wanted to buy the boys a little treat for Easter. Great, H gives them some suggestions. They just messaged us and were like "We bought too much. You will just have to regulate how much they eat." Or you know another option is to just....not give all of it to us. eyeroll
This is the truest sign that we are getting back to normal. My ILs are overbuying candy. Nature is healing lol.
Since the CDC announced that vaccinated people can now travel, I just booked flights to see my parents and my sister's family in May!
I am in shock that I have plans to see my family. An actual date! It felt like this day would never come. It's been a long, hard year + without having any idea when I'd see any loved ones again.
Now I need to think about when to fly to Chicago to see my 89 year old grandmother.
omg the background check company couldn't verify my employment for the shitshow place I worked at in 2013/2014 so they're requesting proof from me. I can't believe I actually have my W2s from them. I'm sure super organized people would be aghast that it was even a question, but I was shocked when I actually found them in my random pile of tax things in my very unorganized file folder thing lol. Then I got mad all over again when the 2014 one was in a stack of papers I had to compile to send to the IRS because this employer withheld taxes from me, but then didn't report that to the IRS so it looked like I had overstated my withholdings. Oy. That place was SUCH a mess and so terrible.
DH worked for Transunion at one point and his background check took literal weeks because they couldn’t verify that he worked at some random Hilton hotel back at the very beginning of college for a total of three months. They were all irritated that nobody at that hotel was there when he was so none of them remembered him and it had been close to ten years since he had worked there. It was so frustrating.
It’s going to be beautiful all weekend so I’m getting DS outside as much as possible. Are all 3 year olds super moody or just mine? 3 is rough, man.
3 is the literal worst. I have never hated an age more than when DS1 was 3. DS2 has been better at 3, but he has his moments that remind me of why I hated DS1 so much during that time. It will get better. Hang in there.

I had something similar happen when they were doing the background check for the job I just started. I worked at this place in 2013/2014 and they reported that I worked there 1/1/16 - 1/2/16, so the background check place requested proof from me. Thank GOD my H is meticulous and keeps all our tax stuff in one place, so I could send my W2s. At first I was kinda WTF about me having to provide the proof but then I realized that I didn't actually want them to call that place since I was basically forced into resigning over an error they made, so I just sent what I had.

3 year olds are literally the worst. I got pregnant with DS2 when DS1 was 2 and if I had waited a year then poor DS2 would not exist. It gets better at 4 (but only slightly :::sobs::: ).
We found out today that DS’s foot is broken. He’s 15 and a distance runner and it started hurting during track practice out of the blue last Friday. Everyone thought it was a muscle/tendon thing. The running physical therapist sent him to a doctor at the children’s hospital this morning and it’s broken. He has a walking boot for a month. The first track meet is tomorrow so he’ll miss at least 70% of the season. If the break was 1/2” up, he would’ve required surgery and a screw. It’s always something but it’s his first broken bone.
Today is my 14th day post second vaccine and I’m going to Target and Ulta! I have not been inside a store since early March 2020.
H got a new iPad to use as his computer for now since he turned in his work laptop so I get his old iPad (which is only a year old) and I'm so excited! Mine was dying and would only intermittently work so this is very cool. I'll be able to consistently use it for my workouts and streaming in bed rather than my tiny phone screen lol.
I just spent way to much on swimsuits. But I checked the return policy so I plan to use it if necessary. It's seriously such a pain. I am 34F/G which is uncommon but also common apparently since most places have it sold out in that size. Stupid boobs.
sproctopus- I really wanted to like your post because your menu sounds delicious but I didn't want to like the reason why you're stress baking. I'm sorry your mom is being a snatch.
I've slacked on Easter and placed a pickup order last night for basket, brunch and egg dying supplies at Target. Of course, I then remember that DS loves Peeps and I forgot to add those. The Target near us has not a single Peep available for pickup. I did my drive up this morning and ran inside to look for myself, nothing. H went to Wegmans to pickup his prescription just now and they also had zero Peeps. WTF. So, I just placed an order at another Target that is about 25 minutes away for 2 packages of Peeps and 2 of the new Spindrift lemonades, since the Target I typically shop at doesn't carry them. I have a dermatologist appointment tomorrow morning and at least it's close to the Target so I'm not driving almost an hour just for fucking Peeps. The things we do for our kids.
I found Peeps at our Wegman's, but it's not a usual Easter purchase. E is starting a hands-on science class on Outschool on Monday (I supplement his asynch days, b/c the teachers don't assign much work for them to do); Week 1 is an Egg Drop Challenge and Week 2 is a Peeps Launch Challenge. So Peeps are not for eating, they are for catapulting across the family room!

I have to stop coloring. I was sitting on an outdoor patio the other day and instead of enjoying the scenery I was deciding that I would color the building gold and the patio umbrella cadmium orange.

We’re seeing family for the first time since Feb 2020 this weekend, and I’m so very excited. And we’re all vaccinated so we can hug it out.
I took the dog to daycare because he was a hot mess yesterday. Somehow he played all.day.long and still came home with all the energy. He’s 11. I could really go for some old man dog laziness right now, lol.
I had a really nice day today. Woke up to a scheduled covid vaccine, DH brought me coffee in bed, then I went and got a chair at IKEA for my home office, then got tacos and a margarita and ate them in the park while I read a book. Wrapped up my day with more reading, a nap, and then ate pizza with the family at the park before going for ice cream.
As a follow up to my vents thread, DH decided to move his entire office set up to our front room where we had our built ins put in. We're in the process of building out an office for him in the basement, so he'll move down there in a month or so when the work is done. In the meantime, we now both have our own separate office space, which made the rest of my week so much easier. And now I get to decorate it how I want and don't have to use earbuds for all my meetings or coordinate with him about which one of us is going to go elsewhere.
I'm looking forward to getting the kids in bed so I can watch Grey's and the Law and Order crossover.

I'll bet Peeps would make a good cushion for an Egg Drop Challenge.
I can't imagine anyone in my family doing that or catapulting them though...we actually eat Peeps and like them. lol
