If you like WWII historical fiction, then The Nightingale (Kristin Hannah) is a must read. Based on a real person. It has the single best one line I've ever read in a book. It's epic and it's stayed with me for a very long time. It's coming out as a movie too.
I've been thinking about this since you posted. I read the book and liked it (not really my favorite genre), but I really want to know what the line is ... Can you share? Can use spoiler tags if it might spoil the plot...
ETA: BIG spoiler for the nightingale in the post below! * * * * * * * * * * * *
“With sorrow—for this Court, but more, for the many millions of American women who have today lost a fundamental constitutional protection—we dissent,”
just Spoilers ahead for the Nightingale. Can't figure out how to do that click for spoilers thing.
It's on page 373 in my hard cover copy.
"I am the Nightingale" her father said to the man who'd tortured her.
Obviously it's not the best written one liner or the most flowery language. It's that the whole story turned in just one line. Their father abandoned the girls so I never saw this coming. For him to sacrifice himself at the last second for her was an epic ending. I'm really excited to see the movie. I hope they do the book justice. Will you see the movie, just? Was that line memorable for you or do you have a best one liner in a book?

Burial Rites by Hannah Kent is the only thing I've ever read about Iceland, or fiction written about it. Old timey Iceland, about the last woman executed there. Super good!
I loved Bird Box by Josh Malerman but it's pretty spooky (adaptation on Netflix).
Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine by Gail Honeyman.
The Snow Child and To The Bright Edge of the World by Eowyn Ivey The Secret History by Donna Tartt Pasadena by David Ebershoff Kristin Lavransdatter by Sigrid Undset Blindness by Jose Saramago Favorite authors- Barbara Kingsolver, John Irving, Taylor Jenkins Reid
