devonpow, but where are your leftovers? When we cook on the weekends, we make enough for the week and keep them in pyrex containers.
bottom right. Currently we have those wrapped sandwiches there (leftover from the tv shoot catering that was at my house yesterday). We usually use glass Pyrex bowls for them.
We do have a second fridge downstairs but it’s all drinks.
We use the containers from Costco mixed nuts for stuff too, but all of that is for our convenience/ so it fits better, not to have a pinterest-y looking house.
I do this, except mine are from the Costco caramel chocolate macadamia nut clusters because I wanted the purple lids. I was not sad to have to eat through about a dozen containers of those while working on that project. 😋
I like to put things that come in opaque containers into clear containers or I will end up with 3972494728 of the opaque thing. I like being able to see at a glance how much I have left and do I need to get more. I don’t do laundry detergent because I buy the massive ones, and as a result I think I have 6 laundry detergents in the garage, lol.
I always love the look of those organizing photos, but I feel like half my fridge is condiments and half eaten jars of pickles (we have at least 4 jars of pickles in our fridge right now), and I don't have kids so I don't need to corral juice boxes, so it's not really reflective of my life. My H also keeps out fridge set at near freezer temps (it's at I think 35F), which makes for great ice cold beverages, but also means we have to be careful not to push anything too far back on one our top shelf, otherwise we get frozen eggs, and it messes with our ice maker.
My big dream right now is to buy bulk spice jars in a uniform square shape, because I have at least 50 spice jars of various shapes and sizes, and my spice shelf is a mess.

See I feel that this is where the bins and turntables save me. (Unless you mean you have 4 different types of pickles and then I have a pickle loving 3 year old to send your way). The opened jars of pickles used to get stuck at the back of the fridge. Now they’re in a bin so when they ask for a pickle it’s easy to pull the bin out and check before I take a new jar out of the pantry.

I do buy a huge container of detergent, but I decant it into a smaller tide jug just so it’s lighter. Never thought of using something “aesthetic”.
I don’t get decanting pasta. A) how do you know how long to cook it? And b) maybe I’m just used to cooking for the Italian army, but do others NOT cook the entire pound of pasta? Crazy!
devonpow , but where are your leftovers? When we cook on the weekends, we make enough for the week and keep them in pyrex containers.
We keep the largest area on the middle shelf open for leftovers (and takeout containers). We use glass Pyrex, which often stack. It's all about the zones lol.
I can’t believe how much stuff people use in their laundry! Like scent beads, softener, dryer sheets or balls- am o doing my family’s laundry wrong?
I bought oxyclean to try and have noticed zero difference in the cleanliness of my clothes. I tried scent beads and after the dryer, they smell like dryer sheets only. I tried dryer balls and my clothes were still super staticky. I am going back to regular detergent and regular dryer sheets.

god I love a zone. I see the Home Edit does virtual consultations. I’m debating asking for it for my birthday
OK, due to this thread I just ordered a turntable and a bunch of refrigerator/freezer organizing containers I'm not going as far as pantry or laundry stuff yet, but my fridge could use some help getting to things.
The only things we decant (for lack of better term) are: Rice, sugar, flour and oatmeal.
Mostly because both myself and my SO have had a past history with pests. Oof... (I had a bag of teff flour that was sitting around for awhile in a cupboard I didn't go into often...some sort of black flying bug got into it. It was bad....)
The only other thing is mouthwash because I refuse to allow SO to put that bigass bottle of listerine on the bathroom counter. Is it dumb? Yes. Would it be better if it was just put away under the sink? Yes. I can I get SO to do that? No.

I mean that we have four different kinds of pickles. There are the dill pickles my H likes to put on hamburgers or assorted sandwiches. There are the sweet pickles I like to have as a side for my burgers. There are the cornichons I like when I'm doing charcuterie. And finally there are the ultra fancy fermented garlic dills we both like when we do deli sandwiches. I think that's all we have right now, but sometimes I buy bread and butter pickles in the summer, and occasionally my SIL will turn up with a jar of pickles she wants while staying with us.
We also just have an excessive amount of condiments (although those are in the door). I think we have 4 different kinds of soy sauce. I know we have regular, low sodium, and tamari, but I think there is also a bottle of spicy in there too.
At least we neither of us are BBQ sauce people, and I tend to make my own salad dressings in the exact quantities we need for a given meal, otherwise it would be even worse.

My fridge is similar to devonpow, some plastic containers, some things in their OG containers. I use chalk markers to write on the drawers what's in there, and the date on my plastic egg container. That way I can see quickly what i have or dates
I mean my fridge or pantry could look great for two minutes too. Then after the picture I’d put everything else back in and it’d look normal.
Right? An entire section of my one shelf is devoted to bottles of yogurt shakes with the correct cartoon characters on them. There are also some extra bottles that just don’t get consumed as quickly because those bottles have the wrong characters on them.
What about expiration dates? I need original containers. My fridge and pantry are still really organized, but I definitely do not make more work for myself by repouring usable things in different containers that I’m going to have to wash out. I’d spend my life pouring milk from one jug to another.
It reminds me of that Dutch housewife on rhoc I think? With her glass see through walk in fridge for all the produce. She loved her lemons.
I love the clear bins! I’m in the middle of dinner prep but here’s a quick candid of our fridge. It’s super narrow and tall. The clear bins are veggies, berries, other fruit (grapes/oranges/apples depending on the week, may have 2 of these at once), and a protein bin (HB eggs, string cheese, pepperoni, yogurt). My kid manages his own snacks and knows to have up to 1 from each bin every day including our pantry snack bin with fruit/veg pouches, bars, etc. In our downstairs fridge I have a bin for every meal each week with all the ingredients (including pantry items). I prep each Sunday and then day of grab the bin with everything all ready I have several pantry bins as well, I like keeping like items together. I’m not a big fan of decanting items but removing packing is very helpful for fitting stuff into small spaces.
A related question - does everyone keep all of their fruit in the fridge? At my house we keep berries in the fridge, but oranges, apples, bananas, avocadoes, and lemons go on the counter in fruit bowls. Are we weirdos?

I converted to pantry containers after living in FL. It's the only way to keep those little black pantry bugs at bay (or contained enough to see how they came in and then dispose of before they spread and re-hatch). It's habit now, haha.
Pasta, baking stuff, rice, cereal - it ALL goes into sealed containers.

If you are weirdos then so are we. We do the same, although once they are ripe, avocados go in the fridge.
Tapatalk isn’t letting me PIP but the clear bins I like are The Home Edit ones from the container store. I keep the divided drawers on the bottom and stack berry bins or produce bins on top. They are not dishwasher safe.

Maybe your fridge is different than mine (quite likely, ours is 16 years old and I'm waiting for it to die before replacing) but I put those sorts of things in a clear bin because there is just enough space behind the shelves for them to fall behind the shelves. It took hardly any effort to buy a couple bins and put things in them, certainly far less than having to dig out the specific flavor of yogurt she wants that fell off the back of the shelf. It isn't about how it looks, it's about how it functions.

we keep apples, bananas, and ripening avocados on the counter. Everything else in the fridge. DH is into craft cocktail making so we always have a ton of lemons and limes etc in the fridge - we need them to last longer. In the summer when we get peaches, plums etc we keep them out when ripening but then pop them in the fridge to make them last longer.

I tried to watch The Home Edit's show on Netflix because I find the aesthetics soothing, but I couldn't get through it. They loved to talk about "archiving" and it drove me crazy.
