Just finished Unexpected. Jason is a complete and total asshole. Imagine thinking you know more than ANYONE ELSE IN THE WHOLE WORLD. Jesus take the wheel...
Ok, I know people have said this before about Ed, but TLC really should be ashamed that they filmed this whole birth with Kyleen and NOT A SINGLE PERSON intervened to help her. Not one. I don't know what they could've done, but something is better than just filming it, hoping for good ratings. I'm so disgusted.
I can’t believe the hospital let filming happen. It looked like the other birth with the 18 year old who is now living with the boyfriend and the mom recently got out of jail (can’t remember her name!), filmed some parts of her birth on her own phone. But most hospitals have a policy of no filming. And it looked like it was def a camera crew cause all the different angles and everything, then following abusive asshole out the room/hospital. That whole situation was sad and fucked up.
I’m hoping they edited it and at least the medical staff talked with Kylen alone at some point without him in the room. That’s always pretty standard. I just can’t believe any lawyers at a hospital would let filming like that happen. Crazy.
Things have gotten tougher due to COVID, but it is shockingly easy to get permission to film in hospitals. For pregnancy/birth shows, the production company actually clears the hospital/doctors at the time of casting, so they know they will be allowed to shoot there ahead of time. If the hospital/birthing center doesn't sign off, the patient doesn't get cast. That doesn't mean the individual doctors or administration won't kick out the camera crew if an emergency happens, but it's rare. I used to work for the same company that did A Baby Story and I don't think the entire crew was kicked out in 300+ episodes.
When it comes to things like ER visits/unplanned trips to hospital, sometimes a producer will go in as a family member/friend and shoot on their phone/have any supporting family shoot on their phones to cover.

Anyone watching MAFS AU? I found a link to be able to watch all the episodes and I am engrossed. There are some couples on there that I am amazed they are still there after the first commitment ceremony.
Wasn’t this thread like 5 pages or maybe I am thinking of something else.
RHOA- Kenya is looking gorgeous this season.
Drew’s husband is horrible. She deserves so much better.
Drew’s husband is the worst. This has to be a joke or a storyline that she stays with him, right? Like she’s planning to leave him as part of the show?

Got it! So then that whole plot seems like it was somewhat staged. They were first planning a home birth, then the birth center, then they went to the hospital. So seems like if all those healthcare personnel had to approve it ahead of time then that was the plan all along. Anesthesiologists are often on a rotating call schedule so I wonder how they get their approval ahead of time. There’s no way I’d ever allow filming like that when I’m with a patient! Very interesting.
wanderingback - you watching reality tv has me LOL. I just imagine you like reading, doing yoga, meditating, or doing something else that feeds the soul in your free time!! If you ever find yourself binging an entire season of a show (like I have done this week a few times) let me know. 😆
Ok douche, go ahead and call it mud. My husband DID have halitosis. We addressed it after I talked to you girls on here and guess what? Years later, no problem. Mofongo, you're a cunt. Eat shit. ~anonnamus

I have so many questions. First of all, how did they justify bringing Carolyn back but not the guy who left after her? I mean, I agree that it was BS that she left over cookie salad, but the game is the game.
Then Romy quitting in the finale?
And I missed it, but apparently Molly specifically told them *not* to make a cake in the final preheat but Jaleesa made a cake and won?
LOL I have strong feelings about Food Network shows. Its my comfort TV, but something was very "off" this season with the judging.

Such a weird season! I was surprised that they brought Carolyn back as well, I didn't understand it at all. I thought she was going to win to be honest and then so many people would have called shenanigans! And don't get started on the whole cookie salad thing - I mean I would totally eat it but come on - how is that Championship level baking??
I thought it was weak of Romy to quit but I didn't love him overall so I was very meh about it.
They need to bring Jesse back to host - he was so much better!

I don't know that it was staged, per se. At the time of casting, it's possible that they had a hospital birthing plan and so the production cleared the hospital early on. It's also possible that they knew in the week leading up to labor that she was having bad vitals and would likely need to be moved to a hospital, and so they were prepared.
When it comes to nurses/anesthesiologists, I've worked on shows where the hospital admin just has everyone who could potentially be on staff sign the releases ahead of time. Or someone just hands anyone who goes in the room the paperwork and asks them to sign on the spot. It's amazing how many people just sign the release without thinking about it. You can also get the releases signed after the fact, which is harder to do. But if you have a friendly relationship with hospital admin they often hunt them down for you. But that was for shows that were recreations or something like A Baby Story which were low drama, positive PR for the doctors/hospitals. I don't know why anyone agrees to film for stuff like Unexpected.

jinkies I was just really disappointed with this whole season and I really think that it was because of Molly. Jessie Palmer was really a much better host. But I understand how you feel.
BBQ Brawl started last night. One of the competitors this season is the twin sister of one my coworkers!

LOL. It prob doesn’t come across around here but I’m not a very serious person I pretty much only watch reality tv and my partner rolls his eyes about it all the time hehe. I just started watching Unexpected this season, so that’s a new one for me! Otherwise my tried and true are 90 day fiancé, married at first, survivor, top chef, project runway. Occasionally I dabble in some housewives, but that’s been awhile. And I watch the ones on Netflix…selling sunset, love is blind, the circle, etc. I usually don’t have time to binge, but I get caught up eventually!

My partner constantly questions why I watch any tv that isn't educational by which he means docus. It's entertainment! He even questions when I watch quality scripted shows. Fun sucker. But, he'll happily play a stupid game on his phone for hours. Hypocrite. Lol
Teresa is her usual self. Unable to take accountability for anything. When asked if she can name a time when she had Melissa and Joe’s back she can’t but expects them to always have her back. They talked about Melissa not being in her wedding and that she was hurt that she wasn’t asked ‘but it’s her wedding’. Andy asked if Teresa was in Melissa and Joe’s wedding. Tre was but thinks it was super shitty that they got married when she was 9 months pregnant and that they (M&J) should have waited until AFTER she had her baby to get married.
Jennifer was her toddler she's throwing normal self.
I just watched last night. Does Teresa not realize she is on a tv show that records things? They literally have the tapes 😂. Her memory is quite short.
Jennifer reminded me on a kid who stands by and says “yea, what she said” after every comment.

Who watched RHBH??
Sutton cracks me up. So self absorbed but yet not wrong in that Dorit’s drama doesn’t take away from what everyone else might be going through in their life. BUT she could have been more compassionate.
Also, I am probably alone in thinking that something is off about this break in.

That break in looked totally suspicious, who leaves the blinking phone at the gate. I hope it was fake-bc it would be horrible to have happen. But I have doubts.

I don't know, I think when your job requires you to use a lot of knowledge and memory, it can be nice to watch something that is light and does not require too much of the audience. I like reading fluffy books for the same reason, and reality TV obviously. lol
In a non-related moment, I truly worry about being able to remember everything medical. Did you ever feel that way when you were in med school? (not that I am in medical school, but the nursing program and the science classes associated with it overwhelm me sometimes)

This being her second break in, yes, I thought it seemed off.

No one remembers everything medical. I’m still learning and growing. I look up stuff on a daily basis. I also am not afraid to say I don’t know to a patient and work on finding answers. I also have a great network of colleagues that I text or call about difficult cases. Since my specialty is so broad, literally the broadest, it was/is overwhelming, especially during residency. But I think the part of learning and growing is understanding the things above that it’s ok to look things up, say I don’t know and reach out to others for help, so the clinical knowledge base doesn’t feel too overwhelming most of the time now. I personally don’t remember all the nitty gritty biochem details anymore, shrug.
When I have difficult procedural cases, in those instances muscle memory seems to kick in to take over and then I typically recite steps or trouble shoot in my head and often take deep breaths to get me through. That has definitely taken a little more time to not feel super anxious/panicked in those situations.

bsp36cleo29 the way the people were just casually walking up to the door was weird. I would think there would be a little more peep in their step if they were about to rob someone even if they didn’t think anyone was home. It was like they were invited to a BBQ.
But I mean, I have never been committed a home invasion so what do I know.

I haven't started on BH yet, but that break-in is shady AF to me, only because Dorit and PK are known to be super shady and are in a lot of debt. Like, it could totally be legit but knowing what we know about them, it's not odd at all to question them.
I'm just now getting caught up on the current season of Summer House. I've been bingeing all of the prior seasons in my free alone time and am finally almost caught up! Sorry to say it for the millionth time, but I really hate Austen Kroll. Why is he on any reality TV show? Both him and Craig are giant, gross man children. Do they have huge magical penises or something? Even if they do, I still don't get it. I now know for a fact that I will never, ever watch Southern Charm!!
And I know Paige is not coming off well this season because all of my Bravo people on social media are roasting her HARD. I can't wait to watch the rest of the season. I think I'm on ep13.
