We have a meeting slot on Tuesday mornings, when no classes are scheduled. I thought the slot was at 8:15 am, but when I showed up for our division meeting last week it didn't start until 8:30. Today I showed up for the faculty meeting at 8:30 only to find out that it had started at 8:15. WTF? Hopefully people didn't notice the new girl slinking into the back row.
1. A friend from college is a teacher, so she has a fake FB name so her students can't find her. Let's say her real name is Jen, and she goes by let's say "Sparkle Jen" on FB. She just got married, and gave herself a married name on FB afterwards to Sparkle Jen Love. That's a little to me.
Why doesn't she just make her profile unsearchable?
We're meeting with a financial planner Friday and I'm really excited to see what they say. They seem very in line with our goals, and they come recommended by one of H's incredibly smart coworkers. I really, really hope we can afford them and that they'll take us. We don't have a lot of assets, but we're young so I'm hoping that'll work in our favor.
I'm sorry Kris, I hope better days are soon ahead of you and your family *hugs*
My randoms:
Our cat has had constipation issues for over a week now. MH leaves for work earlier than me, and woke me up today to tell me that the cat took a really big poop. We were both way too excited about this. I never pictured married life centering around animal feces, but here we are.
I had a dream a few nights ago that Kate Middleton was hanging out with us at our house for some reason. And we had a giant floor-to-ceiling window facing our backyard and a talking wolf was trying to break his way in. And then the wolf yelled through the glass to Kate, "DAYUM, girl, you got some FINE-ass titties!"
I had a dream that I slow danced with Justin Timberlake because I snuck into an NSYNC reunion. Now I'm sad that 1) it didn't happen and 2) NSYNC is not getting back together.
and I just put your SN and twitter name together. DUH!
Someone posted on FB today that she got to her hotel (she'd prepaid) and they didn't have confirmation on it and all she had was her debit card so she could only pay for 1 night. She's concerned she won't have a place to stay tonight (it's for a work conference).
My thoughts: why do you only have a debit card and why didn't you take your confirmation page with you? I just don't understand people who don't have credit cards for at least emergency situations.

To go along with the family trait theme....sometimes I wonder if my kids are mine. They both have blue eyes (I have brown) and everyone says they look like my husband.
We're going on a weekend trip to Philly soon. We booked maybe two weeks ago. Two days ago, I invited my husband's sister and her boyfriend to come with us, and yesterday they said yes.
So I told her that we had booked a hotel, and sent her all the info. She emailed back that it looks great, and yay! hotel is dog-friendly and so maybe they'll bring their dog.
Their dog is huge and unruly, so she clearly cannot stay in the room all day (they won't even leave her in their house uncrated when they go to dinner, and often board her when they'll be out of the house for a few hours). But won't we be seriously limited on what we can do if they bring their dog along? I was planning on going to museums and Reading Terminal Market and such? What would we do when we go out to dinner?
So the theme for today for me is why are people bringing extra high-maintenance animals with them on trips?

Ick. We only take Biscuit when we go to the family's beach house in Florida. We stayed in a dog-friendly hotel on vacation, but we didn't want to make arrangements for him while we were kayaking, etc.
I'm so sorry for everything that is going on right now, lots of hugs to you. We're always here if you need to talk.
Thanks everyone, I really apriciate it. I was holding it all together until I heard my 22 year old SD strugling to talk on the phone. No kis should have experience that. At least we found out what was wrong with DH and he is now getting treated and I hope to have a better idea of where my sister is on Thursday and get her to call her doctor if she is still not doing well. Sorry to be such a downer!
So sorry to hear about all you've got going on. Is your SD plugged into the National MS Society? I ask, because DH and I just did the MS bike ride this weekend, and so many of the family members and friends of those with MS along with those with MS, spoke so highly of all of the help they've received from NMSS, be it help with medication or support groups. Again, I'm very sorry to hear about this, but its stories like hers that always resonate when we participate every year and will continue to do so. Hugs.

Kris, sorry, hugs and T&P!
-I'm still annoyed with last night's game. I wanted to take the day off and wallow. I'd rather not have a football season than put up with these unqualified refs.
-It's raining today and I really wanted to go for a run in the park after work. Run off some of my rage. I don't want to run indoors damn it.
-I've started drinking more green tea instead of coffee. It doesn't have the same effect. So I've been adding 2-3 tea bags to my cup.

There is so much about this whole situation that sounds questionable.

I bought a brownie at Pret a Manger at lunch because I am stressed/unhappy today and eating my feelings is my coping mechanism of choice. It is fudgy, delicious, chocolately goodness.

Hugs to you, kris.
And, countthestars - I saw JT this weekend in Las Vegas, & he was much cuter than I expected! I've never thought he was attractive, but he's way cute in person. :-)
My random. . . I got my resume back from a service & I'm so happy with the results. Now I just have to get myself to start sending it around to my network. I'm nervous.
I just got a thank you card from a wedding we went to over 6 months ago. Why bother sending one at this point? I had forgotten all about the wedding and never realized we didn't get a card. Now I'm just reminded and annoyed. Plus the bride & groom have no excuses to be 6 months behind, they had no honeymoon, already owned a house, etc. They are not very busy people (it's a cousin so I know this for fact).

I think 6 months is fine.
We recently got 2 thank you notes. One was a very nice note, mailed on the couple's first anniversary
The other was for a wedding on NYE, in which my husband was a groomsman, and was a photo card with a printed message of "Thank you so much for your generosity Love, Bride and Groom" or along those lines.
Only the latter annoyed me, and mostly because if we gave them a nice gift and my husband was in the wedding, they probably could at least sign their own names.

I haven't gotten a full night's sleep in I don't know how long. It's not because of my DD - she's a wonderful sleeper - it's because my dog has fecal incontinence issues so when he's asleep he poops sometimes. Being woken up at 3am because of dog poop is no fun.
My DH told me last night he's had a lump in his groin for coming up on a month (which means it's probably been there longer) but that it never hurt so he wasn't worried about it. I told him it was probably a hernia and that he needed to see a Dr. So he goes this morning and sure enough it's a hernia. He has a surgical consult scheduled for Friday.
