I got Acts of Violet as an audiobook to listen to on my drive to/from Oregon based on a recommendation from one of the past threads a month or two ago. I also have Rainn Wilson's book The Bassoon King to listen to also, but the two of them combined is longer than my drive time.
I'm also trying to decide if I want to get the audiobook for The Paris Library. It's my book club pick for this month, and I already have the ebook, but I'm not feeling super motivated to read yet another WWII era novel.
Currently reading a non-fiction book called Stolen Focus, about all the reasons why we constantly flit from tab to tab to tab, and are always on our phones. TL;DR - tech companies suck. But also, life is hard and stress is bad.
I enjoyed the Paris Library, but probably 80-90% of what I read is ww2 fiction
I just ordered Stephen King’s new one, Fairy Tale, and I’m excited to get it! Also just got my BOTM, Killers of a Certain Age, and I am entertained so far.

I just finished "Eyes on the Street", a biography of Jane Jacobs. She's one of my heros, so I really enjoyed it.
I also just finished listening to on audio with kid (but would totally recommend to adults also): "A Ceiling Made of Eggshells," historical function about a young Jewish girl during the Spanish Inquisition.
I just finishing listening to Daisy Darker by Alice Feeney and it may be the absolute worst book I have ever read. The plot, the writing style, everything. I don't expect thrillers to be literature, but this was just so bad. People seemed to like her previous book so I don't know if this is different or not but I know there are a lot of hours I won't be getting back.

Im finishing Unmask Alice which is about the author Go Ask Alice and other “true” teen diaries. It is wild. The author, Beatrice Sparks, was a piece of work and had a huge part in starting the satanic panic.
I’ve been interested in anything satanic panic recently, especially since it seems to be bubbling up again. The things adults will take at face value is astonishing.

I'm about halfway through Fairy Tale. Overall, I'm enjoying it. But one of the main characters is an elderly German Shepherd and I'm just waiting for her to die and break my little dog lover heart. It's slowing me down.
Just finished Love Matters More on Audiobook and loved it. (Faith-related book, calling out the people who say they’re “Speaking the truth in love” when they’re really just being judgmental and hurtful. Highly recommend for those who grew up Evangelical/Conservative Christian and no longer tolerate many of the things that were taught in those spaces.)
This sounds like something I'd be into and my library doesn't have it! As an audiobook or kindle anyways. I'll have to check in person.

That's right up my alley. I never read go ask alice, and I had no idea the author was so shit.
Related, I had a dream recently about satanic panic. I probably watched something on netflix related to it. It sounds like something I'd do.

If you have access to Hoopla, it’s there on Audiobook and ebook (no idea how that works with kindle, though). The author also has a podcast called The Bible for Normal People. The most recent episode was The White Supremacy of Inerrancy. Not a light topic, but an important one, for sure!

I wish someone else wrote Unmask Alice. He was not a good writer and his afterward basically said I can’t cite sources because there were too many. What?! It is an interesting story I’d love to hear about from a better source but I can’t imagine we will get one.

Yeah, his style was annoying. Every time I read a book written by a man I think about how it would be better if it was written by a woman lol.

Me too! I try read very few to begin with and when I do, I’m 9/10 of the time disappointed.
I’m listening to Diamond Eye by Kate Quinn. It’s historical fiction about a real woman Russian sniper in WWII. Loving it.
Just finished Missing Molly by Natalie Barelli. A murder mystery that was also a well done audiobook.
I love Kate Quinn's WWII fiction and tried some of her books set in Ancient Rome and I couldn't get through more than a chapter.
I'm re-reading The Passage for the third or fourth time. It's so nice to read a long book that I'm engrossed in. I tend to be a really quick reader and sometimes I want to stay with a story for longer. I love this book and wish the trilogy didn't go deep into Christianity because that's how the story veers off the rails, in my opinion. I've never re-read the other two books.

I finished Santa Fe Rules this week. It's older, but I really enjoyed it. Pretty light reading. I try to read books set in the locations I'm going to visit before I go there.
I also finished Greenlights. Parts of it I really enjoyed and found value in, parts of it felt pretentious to me.

I tried to read Modern Lovers and quit. I listened to the Henna Artist. It was good, but I don’t know that it was worth all the hype. Looking for something else now. I have so many books on hold that are still weeks out.
I just finished The Last Housewife and am deeply disturbed…mostly by how true I could see this all being in real life. Do not read if abuse/suicide is a major trigger for you.
dancingirl21 I’ve also only been reading fun romance/rom coms this summer and have enjoyed it so much!
I got a bunch of good recommendations from a prior thread on this board - I actually made a list from it and take it with me to the library.
Whoever recommended The Flatshare and Charm Offensive - I loved them both.
Currently I’m reading an Evie Dunmore book - A Rogue of One’s Own - and I’m not quite sure about the historical aspect since I prefer modern day rom coms. So we’ll see.
I'm reading One Two Three after seeing it mentioned in the discussions here a few times and it's been slow going for me. I'm maybe half way through and it's fine, but I just don't find it pulling me in.
It gets good but the beginning was a snooze fest. It took too long to get to the point of the story.

I'm still reading it, it is taking me forever! I just hope the ending is satisfying when I finally get there.

I recently finished Verity by Colleen Hoover. I thought it started out a little slow but really picked up. I also thought of about 3 other twists that could have happened, so didn't see this one coming.
