There's def something weird going on with cookies in the north east. I ordered cookies from a friend in another state who had to message me to change my Tagalong order to something else. I feel bad for her, she kept saying 'thanks so much for understanding blah blah" leading me to believe people were jerks about having to switch orders.

It’s Little Brownie Baker. They are fucking everyone over and are basically just saying, “We’re not baking anymore, too bad, so sad,” so no one is able to sell anything.

That makes me rage. Esp for the troops such as my friend who have to wait to start selling until end of Feb or March.
Also unrelated to this year's supply...it's not fair for those in snow areas to have to sell in January - March because they're at cookie booths in the snow. Plus everyone's "on a diet" in January (for like 2 weeks), so they sell less inventory. Sell them in Oct and Nov, you'll sell so many more. I understand there are only so many bakers and "that's why cookie sales stagger", but it's never made sense even when I sold them door to door 30 years ago.

litskispeciality we’re in an area that does Dec-Jan online sales, Feb-March in-person sales, and it’s cold AF. I’ve been told it’s so cookies don’t melt.
We sold well this year because it was in the 40s on the days we sold and my scouts went to the road and screamed at cars for hours at a time to turn in and buy some cookies.
If it had been in the 20s like it usual is, god only knows.

We are with ABC bakers and there are troops with a lot of leftover inventory trying to trade/transfer it somewhere, anywhere, to avoid being stuck with it. In fact, they extended our cookie sale dates so we were able to put in a final order as of last week for whatever cookies you wanted so I put in for a bunch of Thin Mints since no one had those left to transfer/trade and its what everyone wants to buy. This of course upset the troops stuck with the inventory they're trying to shed.
We are also in the northeast. Who decides which group gets which bakery? Is it somehow geographic?

sent I’m not sure how it’s decided, but I believe individual councils negotiate the contract. For example, our council was with ABC when i was in scouts, switched to LBB for a time, and is now back with ABC. Our neighboring council is LBB.
but there must also be something regarding an allotment ceiling. Our council indicated last night that we would have no more peanut butter patties because our threshold for that variety had been hit.

Wow, crazy to see how different councils are handling volunteers and background checks. I shouldn't be surprised though just given how different councils handle everything. I'm surprised it wouldn't be across the board for GSUSA

I feel pretty confident that our troop leader went through that but to volunteer at the cookie booth I didn't have to do anything.
