In other news this is probably what I needed to finally let go of Twitter.
I was thinking this too. There were things I liked about Twitter, but it's glitchy, overrun by blue check trolls, just a generally gross place (not that there weren't issues before but it's way worse). I keep wanting to delete the app but haven't quite done it yet.
The hypocrisy of the "Twitter files" trying to show bias in the 2020 election and then he literally uses the platform for a candidacy announcement.. 🙄

I can hardly throw stones as someone who drives a Tesla, but I’m actually surprised by the number of liberals who still use Twitter.
Then again, I’ve never really been a Twitter user (although I did get a blue check mark through a past job — now gone, of course) so its demise hasn’t really left a void in my life. It’s easier to quit something you barely use in the first place.

In fairness it is probably the best platform to get queer news even right now, and literally the only place to get in the building statehouse news for most state legislative sessions because there are basically no newspapers/journalists in a lot of these places.
But yeah, it’s a mess and it’s becoming unethical to participate in even so, although I imagine I’ll have to keep using it for work regardless because there’s no alternative right now.
“In a Fox News interview shortly after, DeSantis sought to put a positive spin on the situation. “We had a huge audience. … It did break the Twitter space, and so we’re really excited with the enthusiasm,” he said. On Twitter, DeSantis’s team directed their fans to WinRed, the fundraising platform, asking supporters: “What can we break next?””
Shit, DeSantis has broken plenty, don’t go breaking anything else…
But legit lol that they are spinning that he broke Twitter.
His staff is trying to say that it was the mass of people that were watching that crashed the site. Lololol
This is genuinely funny. Pathetic and sad, but funny.
NPR was real quick to point out Twitter has had much larger groups of people watch live streams in the past, but that Musk laid off a bunch of technical staff and that was the real issue.

the way that Elon has tanked twitter is just breathtaking

How is this our country? I'm actually praying Trump can run as I think we could beat him if we all go vote, but DeSantis and his minions scare me more.

These types of militia fucks are also crashing pride festivals and parades. Horrifying and scary. This is the first year we’ve debated whether it’s safe to go, as our city is expecting a fairly large Proud Boys contingent.

I'm so sorry and mad for you seeyalater52. I'm in a red state in the Midwest and so far haven't seen a group like this out anywhere. I've heard a similar group is outside Disneyland. I'm dreading the election. It was such a relief to have Biden in office and now it's time to worry all over again.
I’m sorry seeyalater52. We’re in DC right now and this is our first Pride. I was a little nervous about going to the parade today and the festival tomorrow. It makes me so angry that such a joyous event is marred by fear and hatred.

I hope you guys have a wonderful time. DC is a pride that I’d feel pretty safe going to, so hopefully it feels that way to you. ❤️
