I know 2023 has been cruel to you and your family and many, many more in this country. I see your and read your anger and pain and desperation in posts and responses. I think of you often and worry when you don't post that you may have given up. Know that I look for your insights and experiences and knowledge and you have an ally in (blazing red) KY.
The original video was deleted for all the pushback.
This content creator was very gracious in his call out of Hank Green and his very privileged, white cis man TikTok and thought it deserves a link (HG also posts why he took the original down):
And now that I’ve posted this I’m thinking the Hank Green discussion was on ML and this is misplaced.
I must have missed some discussion but I’m surprised it’s taken this long for Hank Green to get some serious pushback. How he’s basically coasted for this long is beyond me.
I didn't want to like this post because that felt wrong but didn't want to scroll by. I know I can't actually do anything, but sending love to you and your family.
seeyalater52, please know that you and your family are constantly on my mind and there are people who see and love and support you all and are fighting like hell next to / behind you every single day. Please take care of yourself and your family and reach out with whatever you need to get through <3
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

Our new CDC director's introductory speech is all about TRUST AND TRANSPARENCY, so we'll see. I liked Walensky just fine, though will fully admit there were many missteps. ETA She's also only 5 yrs older than me which is kind of crazy.
Massive landslides in the Los Angeles area (Rolling Hills Estates) and one of Manson's followers has been paroled. She's in her mid 70's.
The landslides are in my area - I'm maybe 5 miles from them. My mom lives closer to that neighborhood. I know when she and my dad bought their house, the insurance company came out to determine if they'd insure it and for how much because of all the canyons. She is not on a canyon and closer to the base of the hills, so she had no issue. But these canyons are all over the hill. My first question was, "Didn't the owners think about this when they bought?" But one of the owners has been there for almost 50 years and is in their 90s. I am guessing this was not something they worried about then.
Everyone is wondering how the damage will be paid for. Like who will be responsible? Insurance? The homeowners? The city is trying to get a state of emergency declared, so they would it be the tax payers?
And they are now trying to determine if the land has settled so that the owners can go in and try to get personal items out.
And and ... 5 more houses were evacuated this morning because the original slide damaged a big sewer line and now those additional 5 houses are at risk.
seeyalater52 I'm just seeing your reply in this post on the heels of reading about book banning for under 18 in Mississippi today.
You're not alone, and many of us are fighting with you - no just on our keyboards. But your feelings are valid and i'm holding space in my heart and prayers for you and your family and all my other friends dealing with this BS across the nation, and the world in some cases.

I haven’t seen much about the new director, but if Shah is going to keep being second in command, I trust there will be transparency. He was almost too apologetic and open sometimes in 2020-2021. He learned from the mistakes made during his time in Illinois.
