This is also petty, and creepy, but I hate the Linkedin feature that you have to pay to search privately. A former colleague of mine was finally let go, not exactly same situation but another I know more than my female boss, yet have nothing to show for it because I do nothing all day (and bleeping complain how I'm underpaid!). Employee PM'd me on Linkedin asking me not to look at their page once they were gone from the job. I was already gone from that place, but what caught my eye to search their LI was an article they posted in the main thread. All I wanted to see was if this person landed a new job. I get it though, they assumed I was team "glad that person was fired" (which I was). Small community too running in to people who knew this person professionally they all said "oh I know them..." and that was it. Hopefully you get to do that someday to give someone else a heads up.
I am baffled at the fact that she messaged you to tell you not to look at her LinkedIn. She put the information on the Internet! She doesn't get to control who looks at it after that point!
Were the work events like paid volunteer hours during the workday?
It was an array of stuff- tree planting, State of the U, virtual face-to-faces with the President of the U, wellness events, training on systems he doesn't use, a "future of work" task force, and so on.
I don't know what he actually attended - but he had 32 different events on his calendar!

Is there like a sign in roster at these events? I wouldn't put it past him to sign up and then no show- but it filled his calendar to look busy and not be available for his job responsibilities.
Actually attending 32 events would still be ridiculous enough

This is the dude that was planning to be in Orlando when you needed him to be onsite right? And he never told you that he planned to work in another state? And you suspected he was planning to lunch with Mickey instead of working?

32 work events during the holidays SCREAMS "I'm not actually attending these events, but making myself look busy so I can actually sit at home and enjoy the holidays with my family."
I once had an employee tell me it wasn’t his job to go to meetings and respond to emails.
It’s actually like 95% of our jobs!
He then went to HR to complain about me. HR and I had a good laugh about that one.
Hahahaha, I love this. I want to say that to my manager just to see his reaction, lol.
I'm sitting here thinking of maaaaybe three professions left that don't require email, and/or phone calls. What the heck did this fool employee think he was going to do all day?
But I'm confused about you emailing his personal email. How did that happen?
I've had this happen because initial communication is through personal email. When they start the job with the org your email still autofills with the old address. I didn't notice and sent the work email.

Happened to me too. (Edit) Interviewed, and hired under a personal email, which is now in my bosses contacts as we communicated about interviews, job offer and onboarding etc. One boss sent it so much other colleagues would end up with that email. Current job sent onboarding stuff to personal and company email, as I might not have had access to company email yet.
Companies also don't typically give you an email and log in credentials until you start, but you communicate before your first day.
