That’s absolutely nuts and so hard for parents who might not know what they’ll need. I’ve been in and out of the workforce for the past few years as our kids needs have evolved (two are disabled and one has needed more support than we could give with us both working full time for the past two years). I’m returning to school full time this fall and doing a one year post grad certificate program. I hope I’m employed by next summer and come January I’ll have to spend the money to enroll my son in case I have a job, but I couldn’t possibly know for sure now.
Also, we don’t have the dates for ESY next year yet and he needs ESY to continue his speech and OT services, so that will be 6 weeks he isn’t in camp, but I don’t know what dates and won’t for a long time.
Just a regular local summer day camp. It's not very dissimilar from other local summer day camps -- swimming, gaga pits, arts & crafts, etc. They have a man-made lake for boating and "fishing" (barb-less hooks and they throw the fish back) that other camps don't have. I don't know if that's why it's so popular?
We had tried another summer day camp the year we moved out of Philly and into the burbs and the kids were ... not nice to DS. The next summer, we enrolled in the same camp as his best friend. I think we only got in because it was 2020 and most families were keeping kids home from camps due to COVID.

Yes but it sucks because camp sign up is January and I don't get gymnastics practice schedules until May. Last yr we lucked out and practice was at 345pm but I think his practice might start at 1230 next year. Which sucks. I can pick him up early from some camps but not others.
I used to sign-up on the first day camps allowed registration, so that put us around mid-January (before the summer started). Since your change fees don’t kick in until February 15th, I would just register for the whole 9 weeks and change it around February 1st.

I really wish we could mandate all camps hold off on opening enrollments until like, March. I have no damn clue what my schedule next summer is gonna be yet and I resent the idea that I have to plan all travel 6-12 months in advance.
