I love the way kids think! Reading these is so funny. One year H took the girls to KMart on Christmas Eve to shop for me and I got a pair of hair cutting scissors. I still have them. My DK grand daughter brings her teacher a piece of candy every day. Her mom thought she probably ate it on the way to school, but lets her take it. At conferences, she found out that grand daughter does indeed give her teacher the candy. But at the end of the day, she asks for it back. Every day. This teacher is also a good sport. I have no idea if DD talked to the child about this after conferences.

I was going to say my teacher friends (at least of the youngesters) never seem to mind getting another book(s) for their classroom...but I saw the comments above about gifts being more toward the job, which I get.
My girlfriend teaches daycare and notes and gifts from the kids absolutely melt her heart.
I let my DDs pick out a small thing of candy or a snack and include a gift card.
One of my girls gave out Pepsis to her math teacher because that's what he drank every morning. It doesn't have to be a "normal" Christmas snack.
MH is also a teacher and is genuinely thrilled at any gift. I just try for something usable because teachers get so much of the stereotypical teacher gifts.

David got his teacher 4 fret of Twix for Christmas, bc that’s he favorite candy. (Confirmed bc she jokingly wrote it in their homework on Halloween). And i got her a target gc to go with. I always let him pick something and then get a gc or, if I’m pressed for time or ideas, cold hard cash.
While I appreciate all gifts, I prefer gifts that are for me, vs for my classroom. I'm more than my job. Some gifts I've gotten lately that I love: a plant, new paintbrushes (the kids know I'm learning to paint), fuzzy socks, a book (always a little bold to pick a book for someone but this was a hit). Of course, my favorite gifts are just cards and gift cards (Starbucks, the local bookstore, Target)
"Hello babies. Welcome to Earth. It's hot in the summer and cold in the winter. It's round and wet and crowded. On the outside, babies, you've got a hundred years here. There's only one rule that I know of, babies-"God damn it, you've got to be kind.”

I have to show problems and work, and I prefer my overhead to the dry erase. I use different colored to show transferring electrons or canceling units.

Another big fan of flair pens here. I love any variety of colors. I bought them for myself for Christmas last year since I don’t really get many gifts at school and I don’t share them with students. LOL

This year I got DD's teacher a positive potato and literary tea. The positive potatoes are small and I figured she could keep it on her desk or regift it if she really didn't want to do that and the tea is something I know she likes to drink and the literary tea has quotes from books on the tea bags so it's interesting. Also a big amazon gift card.
I asked S what he wanted to get his first grade teachers, if anything. I said "think about things they talk about or you see them eating, etc." He goes "we should buy them coffee! They love coffee!" lol.
