Yeah this one is on you. Once you converted it to a credit, how are they supposed to know if it was a refundable credit or a non-refundable one? I doubt they have a way to track that and they aren’t going to just take your word for it. Lesson learned next time always take the refund when offered.

I have dated screenshots, but whatever lol
Honestly? I’d send them the screenshots and ask again. You don’t want to go back anyway and it’s enough money it’s worth trying to get it back IMO. They might do it just to be done with you. Either way you’d have a final answer and can be done with it.

I would be oissed at myself for this. Like someone said, if you don’t plan to use them again and you’re just going to sacrifice the credit, it can’t hurt to try and be nice and ask again with your screenshots. But I really don’t think it’s on them to fix this. Every time I make a return to Amazon it asks if I want a credit. I always decline, but if I accept the credit I wouldn’t think I could go back six months after the fact and say hey, I’m not really using Amazon that much to use my credit , can you refund it back on my original payment. I mean maybe they would do it, but I wouldn’t expect it. But can’t hurt to ask sweetl🤷♀️
If I return a shirt at Target I originally purchased via CC, I can get it put back on my CC, but I could also ask for a credit. If I then use the credit to buy pants, but want to return the pants, my only option is a credit.
They have to treat them as two separate transactions for accounting purposes.
But screw those places that split a dollar amount discount up between items. I wanted to buy Rothys during their 30% off sale and I also had a $20 off coupon code that would stack. So I was going to buy two sizes to be sure I got a pair that fit. But it showed in my cart that $10 was coming off each pair, so I was irrationally angry that I’d lose out on the full $20 off.
So what did I do? Nothing. I never ordered them so we ALL lose!

Did you already talk to someone higher up in the company? I understand looking at the computer, seeing the credit and assuming it’s because you forfeited a portion of your payment from a prior appt. This seems pretty straightforward and I would definitely honor your refund if I were the owner. I’m actually shocked at the answers here.
I'd call back. That original $245 credit should've disappeared/been used with the second booking (Thanksgiving). But since you also canceled Christmas, wouldn't they keep 25% of that stay anyway? IMO $118.75 is a fair "credit" to keep per their policy.

The $245 was what was leftover after Thanksgiving was over (July "credit"- Tgiving = $245). Christmas was cancelled well before the 72 hr notice so full refund was given... just not all in cash but the method of payment for the most recent transaction (i.e., half "credit", half refunded money)
I’d be annoyed! I think it’s completely reasonable to ask for a refund since you can no longer use their services due to a change in your dog’s condition.
I got a refund in a similar-ish situation. I had opted to prepay for my kid’s swim lessons. COVID happened and the lessons were canceled and I got a credit. I opted not to re-enroll him immediately when they re-opened since we were being very cautious. Then we moved and I would never be able to use the credit. They ultimately refunded me. I don’t think that just because you opted for credit that now you can’t ask for a refund.
