I’m in the office today but pretty much finished everything I need to do. We shut down next week so I don’t want to start anything new.
My second job left my tips out of my paycheck and I’m super bummed. I need the money, it will be in my next pay because all the check signers are off already.
Cleaners are here. DS is still passed out in my bed so we're hanging out in here. I was giggling over how different my 2 cats are. My girl met them at the door and was happily purring away. Meanwhile my boy ran for his life and is hiding under the bed.
I love seeing how multiple cats' personalities play out! My orange boy is dumb as a box of hair and super friendly. He greets everyone at the door and demands pets. My void boy just sits back and checks them out from a distance. I'm sure it's less fear and more indifference; he's the "cool" cat. My tuxedo girl darts up the stairs and watches carefully from the top stair, ready to bolt if anyone makes a move toward her.
It's hard to discern personalities unless you have multiples, that's probably why 3 seems to be our minimum.

I’m keeping an eye out for urgent things, but mostly cleaning and packing to leave tomorrow for Xmas and then skiing so need to be organized. I’m waiting for one last gift to arrive so I can quickly wrap it and load my car with the gifts at the bottom of my trunk away from my kids eyes. Come on mailman!!
Keep scrolling if you hate poop but I’m having major dog poop issues. So far having 2 dogs has only been harder when it comes to poop. My new dog will not poop on a leash and the amount of poop in our backyard is fucking insane. I try to go out and pick up as often as possible but then rain, busy, dark at like 4:30 and it accumulates. And yesterday I stepped in it wearing my On sneakers with the deep grooves while picking it up. Poop! poop! Poop!!! 💩 I feel like she has ruined my yard!!
My exH is starting to date a woman who was a very close friend, someone who was there with me throughout my divorce (from him!!) and my subsequent dating adventures. I'm not ok. I feel violated. She hasn't told me yet.
Two months ago FI’s exW told him to come get Bella or she was taking her to the pound. So we went and got her of course. Her nails were so over grown they were curling. Her back end hardly had hair, the vet thinks because of fleas. The second pic is from yesterday. She looks so much better! We finally could get her nails all the way trimmed down, it was a process, she has hair again, and she’s lost 8 lbs. She has settled in and bosses the household around.
How adorable! It seems like you've had a lot of changes in a brief time and I love how you're embracing it! Maybe even in awe. LOL
I am working from home today and getting so much done! I have had so much to do and between having that don't know where to start feeling and being interrupted by new things I haven't felt like I was making progress. Today I'm like a bulldozer toppling tasks! My son had a half day so he didn't need lunch or a uniform and it was so great to get up late and jump into comfy clothes and get going. AND I was able to see his part in the Christmas show by going early to pick him up. I like being in the office, but working from home CAN work for me I guess. I am working from home all next week and I'm hoping to clear up all of my to-dos.
Sadly my husband is sick AGAIN so I'm sure it's only a matter of time before I get it. I hope it doesn't ruin the whole holiday and I really hope I don't have to take any time off work.
On Wednesday, I cleaned out a shared fridge in a break room at work. My reason was to claim an unopened Dr Pepper that had been in there for months. Mission accomplished.

I have no idea how long some stuff could have been in there, whether a year, two, or even prior to March 2020. Three items were take out leftovers, like a chipolte burrito in there for at least months. One set of leftovers in a plastic bag had clear tops, so I was able to see things completely covered in mold. A pack of string cheese expired in Feb 2020 (though it looked fine). Some salad dressing from 2016. A banana (which is still just black after who knows how long). Baby carrots, in an opened bag, that looked like dried chilis. The pepperoni looked fine but expired 6 months ago. I don't smell great so I won't notice how bad the fridge might be. I moved a few things that might be ok but left notes I will throw them out (like some salsa and a fresh 2-day old take out container, sigh). It was like a mini science expedition for me.
The update no one asked for with the extended family invite that equaled lots more gifts to buy. I had a stash of kid gifts (for 7); gifts for 4 couples, and we did gift cards for 3 tweens and we did gift cards for 6 more couples. We are ready!

I'm just finished battling with Amazon over a return I made to an amazon store and handed to an amazon employee. I have an email that they received it yet it's been 13 days with no refund. The chat guy says they don't have it. CC agent says it has been happening a lot with amazon returns. I don't care if they lost it, they said they had it and I need my $160 back in a timely fashion.
BlondeSpiders, if you go to the market report back please. I want to go but not if the weather doesn't change. I'm also annoyed it costs $ just to go spend more money. I should've gone on Wednesday.

1confused1 , that was poor planning. The last (two) week(s) of the year is when everyone needs every penny and a bonus.
So thankful for next week off. I haven't had that in over 12 years. I leave work in 1 hour, but I'm bummed both of my bosses are off so we won't get out early. I was hoping to do a Christmas light thing but DH had a long night at work so I think I'll either go alone or just watch a movie.

I did this for my work fridge maybe a year ago and it 100% had pre COVID stuff in it. I put up a sign and then chucked everything.

H’s stepmom in Costa Rica, with whom I’m very close, has a very rare and aggressive cancer. She had been doing well, but the cancer is now extensively metastatic. She’s in the hospital with hypercalcemia of malignancy. It’s really sad and we are hopeful that she will make the decision to stop the treatment her doctor encouraged her to do. It’s extremely expensive and it’s not making anything better (not prognosis nor symptoms). It’s so hard being so far away. 💔

We just exchanged our tickets for tomorrow at noon. It's supposed to rain all day today, and I just want to curl up in front of my fire with a cat or 3.
DS 2 is in a very involved D&D group with 5 other 12-13 year old boys. The moms have all become friendly, and we have an active group text that, among other things, organizes who's hosting next. Today it's a mom who NEVER LOOKS AT HER PHONE. We all dropped the kids off an hour ago, and she's been asked three times in the group text now when she'd like us to pick them up. Zero response.
Literally the top thing on my mind when we host is what time everyone is getting picked up. They are all good kids, but also so freaking loud. How do you not either look at your phone (to distract you from the noise) or realize that you haven't set a time for the noise to stop?

We just recently got Paramount+ and I swear it has every bad movie I have ever loved on it. Save the Last Dance is so bad. So bad! But here I am - watching it.

Don't the meetings usually last the same amount of time? My 13 year old would have loved to have a group like that!

I swear we hit the lottery when he befriended these kids. They're all weird in very complimentary ways, and shockingly good influences on one another. One kid's been vegetarian his whole life, and both DS and another kid are now trying out more vegetarian foods because of him. My 7th grader now requests salads for dinner!
The following PSA is going to be in all caps because YES I AM YELLING!
PLEASE BE KIND TO ALL RETAIL WORKERS! IT IS NOT THEIR FAULT YOU WAITED UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO BUY YOUR CRAP!
Someone in a local facebook group posted pictures from Target to show people what a mess it is. I know they were trying to show stuff in the aisles and unstocked shelves but what stood out to me was people's drink cups left on the shelves. It wasn't one forgotten cup, they were everywhere. When did people become such pigs?!?

yes people are nasty with their food and drink and just leaving it anywhere.
Today I had to work a register for about 4 hours becasue we were so backed up and the amount of customers complaining about this that and the other was ridiculous.

I don't envy you. My husband is an xray tech and I swear it has become like working retail. People are miserable and disgusting. And the food thing is happening there - people eating full on meals in the waiting room. Staring at or talking on their phones WHILE he's trying to get their info/take their xrays. I don't get trying to make retail workers listen to your complaints. You have this small interaction with someone at the register and you have the chance to say something nice, make them smile - but you go the other way? I was on fumes this morning driving my son to school and I had to stop for gas at a small station I don't ever go to. I had $5 in my pocket and I gave it to him and said "Happy Holidays". He had such a nice smile and it made me feel good. Why spread misery?!?!?! (I live in NJ, it's cold and we don't pump gas lol)
Waiting for the OK from my client to log off....ugggg I am dying for the long weekend to start! They have a newbie doing review and she is asking 1000 questions, it's killing me.

I am SO excited to give my boyfriend his gifts!! His birthday is the very end of November and I got him clothes, underwear, and undershirts and he loved everything!
His Christmas gifts will be beard balm, fancy shaving accessories, hand cream made with lanolin, all in a monogrammed stocking.
It’s our first Christmas together so I’m kind of doing the most. Lol
I worked til 2:00 then went to the local bakery and got some maple ginger cookies, a giant chocolate chip cookie, a slice of cheesecake, and 2 giant soft pretzels. I have enough junk food to last me through next week!
I worked yesterday and today. Closed tonight so I’m exhausted. But I kinda love these last days before Christmas. The husbands/partners/boyfriends are so bewildered, desperate a d grateful. And the kids are funny. People have been a lot nicer this year too. Not that we ever really get mean people, for the most part, but we do get our share of grumps. All that being said, I’m really happy I’m not working again until the 27th 🤣

Good job taking one for the team. You earned that drink!
They clean ours out before Feb break and before summer, with emails and signage stating everything left will be tossed. Thankfully, the refrigerator is mostly full of lunchboxes that go home daily. There are very few condiments.
The place that builds up is the freezer. Always full of half boxes of popsicles and ice cream bars with teacher names scrawled on them that you can’t read. They just don’t sell boxes of popsicles in class sets that allow for no leftovers and you can’t leave them in your room like your empty lunchbox.
