I also find the timing of it kind hilarious. She's, what, mid 30's? Personally, I remember that starting to be the beginning of my "I'm doing things for me" era, and when I started to care less about what other people thought. Given the direction her music/publicity has taken, I'm guessing she cares what they think about her and her boyfriend precisely....zero.

I also wonder if all the hand wringing and shit talking from the right is going to further alienate the younger voters who are hard core swifties. Like, my teen girls are definitely following the drama, and just laughing their asses off at the ridiculousness of it all. I really don't think 70,000 seems like that much of a bonus, so that was surprising to me.

Don't get me wrong that's a heap of money but not to scale for what I was expecting.

LOL that she cares about any of his money. If I had money like her I’d try not to date a pro sports player because their travel schedule is rough (and so is hers but she has more control over hers).

I was curious so I asked my sports knowledge encyclopedia (my DH) about Playoff bonuses. He said there is a set rate for playoff games and a set rate for the Super Bowl for all players. I think it’s around 80k for Super Bowl losers and $150k for Super Bowl winners. Certain players negotiate more in their contracts (which I think is the $70k everyone is talking about). Some good quarterbacks make $2.5 million per game so they may actually be paid way less for a playoff game, or they may have a playoff game bonus in their contract. 💫

Yes this confused me so much too! I was like "well he's an offensive player so maybe they mean a big name in offensive football?"

Maybe I'm being too much of a Swiftie here but it irked me a little to refer to her a country singer. Once again dismissive of the HUGE cultural impact she has that goes so far beyond country music (which she hasn't even been a part of in over a decade).
