Thanks for all the treat suggestions, too! I gave him a slice of cheddar cheese (broken into bits, obviously) last night and he was OBSESSED so I guess the key really is just finding other things. Apparently the all the bougie treats I got him at the pet store are too boring.
I think we're going to look at a couple of private in-home trainers that are more like $60 a session. I am considering PetSmart again too, especially for the price, but I'd really like to work on behaviors INSIDE the house more than anything so I think a private trainer might be the best for that!
I appreciate all the input and talking me down from thinking this was going to have to be an expensive endeavor
Working with a behaviourist in London. We paid £350 for one in-person assessment and two online meetings along with being able to ask questions whenever via Whatsapp. That worked well for us. A lot of training is around the human and not the dog, so I don't like the take them away and train them model (and a lot of those seem to be punishment based and harsh at that). I would look for someone who is positive focused on training with experience in studying animal/human development and psychology.
