But like, where do you work? I work in government and obviously no one there is going to show up in a crop top.
I volunteered a health screening in nursing school like a year and a half ago. We were told we could wear scrubs or business casual. I, being in my mid 30s, wore a sleeveless sweater, cardigan, and some non-jean pants from my former days in an office.
My NOT mid 30s colleagues wore a variety of outfits, including crop tops and ripped jeans. I was horrified. After that, we were told to wear scrubs. I know that was intentional. 😂
Living in brooklyn, I feel like I can wear crop tops comfortably in most situations, but I pair them with high waisted pants, so barely any skin shows. Also I only decided I could do that last summer, lol.
I'm liking the shorter length shirts to go with my higher-waisted jeans/pants. I don't show skin, but I'm otherwise into it. With my longer torso and shorter legs, any visual illusion I can create to make my bottom half look longer, works for me.

I've wanted to try them for like 6+ months, but was scared of showing my belly/skin (lol). Within the past few weeks I've figured out that for me they look better with high waisted pants than my regular length shirts. And I like that look better than low waist pants and regular shirts, so I should have done it months ago. No skin showing, though possible if I lift my arms or my pants slip a bit.
I won't do it at the gym. Too much fear of rolling fabric exposing my untones belly. But those outfits are so cute to me too! I know I should be comfortable with my body and just do it but I'm not there in my body positivity journey yet.
I think this is one of those things that work for different body types. My crop tops and high waisted pants never show skin and flatter my smaller waist/wider hips body type.
ETA: not that I think there is anything wrong w/showing skin, I just wouldn't in the office.
I wore a cropped sweater just this weekend lol with high waisted jeans, although there was still a strip of skin there because I didn't realize HOW cropped the sweater was. I just said fuck it and went with it.
I have two cropped chunky sweaters that I looooooove and have been wearing them all the time. That's it, though. they really don't show any skin, though.
I really overall do not love the clothes out right now.
My dog, currently, because she has a hot spot on a front leg that she won't leave alone, so sleeves it is! She doesn't need much torso coverage, ha.
But yeah, basically all the teenagers I see.
I have mostly been able to find non-cropped stuff for myself, but I get frustrated shopping for my 8 yo. She is very long and lean, so things get short on her quickly anyway. I'm not really looking for her to roll up to 3rd grade with a breeze blowing between the bottom of her shirt and the top of her pants.

I find it odd too. But I’m a former big 4 employee and used to dress up for work. I work at a scale up now in tech. Some of my coworkers are “young” (I thought she was like mid 20s but she’s 29 or 30 lol so not actually super young to me) and we wear whatever we want to work.

Cropped does't have to mean that skin is showing. I love cropped sweaters, cardigans, and hoodies with higher waisted pants or with a top underneath. Like these:
I wear them and loooove them with high waisted jeans. I'm a geriatric millennial too! It's also rare for me to see anyone under age 30 NOT in a crop top. They're everywhere.
I'm too long waisted for cropped styles. Even if they aren't supposed to show your belly, they do on me. And my belly does not want to show. LOL.
My DD struggles a lot with this because she generally doesn't want her stomach to show, but there are almost zero "young" looking options that aren't either cropped or very oversized.
A fellow mom from my elementary school was wearing one yesterday with high waisted pants. She looked really cute!
I am much less stylish and have never attempted the crop. I still prefer extra long shirts. But I have loved the high waisted pants because then I can wear any shirt and feel comfortable & not worried about my belly hanging out.

If you like the look, you can wear a crop top. It doesn't matter if you fat, skinny, long or short waisted, apple or pear shaped, all bodies can rock the crop top.
(I hate that we have to qualify what we wear based on body shape)
I have found that some clothing items are being labeled and sold as “cropped” but just hit at the natural waist. Like the Madewell cable sweater linked above. I don’t know if I’d consider that cropped?
It’s shorter than a lot of the tunic/longer shirt trends were when leggings and skinny jeans were hot but now that we are returning to the era of looser, higher waisted pants like we had in the 1990s, that just looks like what a standard shirt/sweater was back then imo
I don't consider them unusual enough to really notice. I work on a college campus and live in the world so I'm sure I do see them. I have a very long torso for someone my height and DDs anyway, so current shirt lengths are a challenge. Would sign the petition.
ETA: I think this would be an interesting growth opportunity for someone who sells a lot of basics, like GAP or Target. They sell pants in lengths - why not T-shirts?
Old Navy does sell tshirts in "tall" lengths!
they are longer but they are still boxy like crop tops and not long enough IMO. I want slimmer, sleeker, longer shirts made of material that isn't see through. Noone makes these anymore. I know that style is not in fashion any more but i'm just not doing the high waisted mom jeans/crop top thing.

Oh that's a bummer. I actually haven't bought anything from them in a few years, I just remembered that they offered Tall.
Like a PP, I am short snd have a very short torso, so I appreciate the availability of shorter shirts. I am not comfortable wearing crop tops that show any skin currently. My daughter’s 6th grade friends love wearing crop tops.
