I just paid my contractor with a check. H also pays our lawn service with checks. Anything we have to pay to the our township. But I don't carry my checkbook around and pay for things at a store with a check.
I've gone through a surprising number of checks in the last couple years. We moved in 2021 and I have already had to order for a 2nd time with our new address.
The big categories are house related and kid related. Daycare tuition, all kinds of contractors (electrician, landscape, tile installer, etc. etc.), piano tuner, etc. School and property taxes.
I am starting to see some contractors and small businesses that don't want checks, for fear of someone passing a bad check. I don't know where the tipping point is on fear of that vs. credit card processing fees.

I write checks ALL the time. As a matter of fact I need to order some. Bills @kids sports stuff school fees. Hell I rent and still snail mail my rent check to my landlord every month.

I used to pay daycare with checks because the only other option was cash. I occasionally pay for school or kid activity related things with a check if I can't do it online.
But, I work at a bank. While it's gone down, people very much still use checks!
Every now and then. My dentist gives a 10% discount if I pay on check out with a check, no cards. I don’t carry $200+ cash with me at all times, so I try to remember to grab my checkbook as I walk out to the appointment.
We have also had some landscaping done, that gets paid by check. I think checks are required for property taxes too.

Rarely. Mostly for home repair projects or gifts for my nieces and nephews. Recently I cam across a county service that only wanted a certified check or money order and I found that SUPER obnoxious.
I use checks fairly often. I have a couple of bills that come in that aren't see up for online bill pay or that come with a large "convenience fee" to do it online. I pay my dentist, oral surgeon and hair salon by check-- their preference. There's a mom and pop farm store where I shop that doesn't take plastic. The guy who does my auto repairs prefers a check and last week I wrote one to pay the deductible for some body work after an accident.
Check washing is a thing here, too, so if I mail I do so from inside the PO.
