I do get why people might want their own drinks for little kid backwash or different preferences.
It's more that if it's my dad and me, or my partner or sister and me, we just simply don't need that much. Those things are huge! But I got sure was made to share with sister when we were kids.
I don't think soda is what's driving overall price, although inevitably dad would point out how it's like 95% profit margin.
Costco sodas aren't that big any more - they're like a medium cup anywhere else. Sam's club still has the huge cups.
The thought of sharing a soda with 4 people makes me want to vomit. Especially children. The backwash! I don’t share drinks and I HATE when people ask for a sip and I’m forced to tell them they can’t because then I can’t have anymore.
Thank you, lol. I was reading this and internally dying. Sounds like a great way to share germs and illness, too! Pass.
I will share food but it has to be divided up before anyone takes a bite. After? No. Share a drink? Never ever.

Wait you and your dad share when you go out to eat...now as an adult? I think that takes this all to another level lol.
Yes, it is crazy!!! granted, we were at the airport, but we just paid 100 bucks for subs and drinks for six of us. Even at a regular sub place, they seem ridiculously expensive.
We frequently do fast food in the car on the way to our cottage on summer, because it’s 1 million times easier than trying to pack a bunch of lunches and having that mess at the last minute when we’re trying to get out of the house. It is starting to seem so $$ that I am reconsidering that a bit. And eating out in general… So often it just doesn’t seem worth it anymore. The food isn’t that great, but the costs are really high.
Someone mentioned Chili’s… We went to Chili’s for the first time recently with the kids, and I was surprised how expensive Chili’s was! I thought it was on the cheap side, but it was like 19 bucks for five chicken tenders or something like that. And for my very basic sandwich. We could’ve gotten something much better here for the same price at a locally-owned place.

Medium is still large enough. It's like 20+oz plus refills, although admittedly it's been about 18mos since I've been in the states, but my dad and I did eat at Costco many times during the week we saw each other.
Not my hill to die on.
It's not food costs, logistics costs, just pure greed driving these prices.
It's like how the airlines used higher fuel costs to justify charging for (untaxed) baggage fees, but when fuel prices dropped they kept increasing various (untaxed) extra fees.
We're accepted during COVID-19 times, but once that price was raised it never went down, and profits just keep going up while their taxes keep going down.

only at Costco! It's not a money thing. It's that neither of us want a whole soda or slice so we split. I'm certainly not saying we use the same straw! I trust neither of us will backwash in our adulthood.
I’m kind of dying at the way we shop and travel on this board, compared to how we apparently have all of these saving tips for FF! Big annual trips, but will feed a family of 5 on one chicken breast and all share a coke at Costco! Oh ML!

Ok douche, go ahead and call it mud. My husband DID have halitosis. We addressed it after I talked to you girls on here and guess what? Years later, no problem. Mofongo, you're a cunt. Eat shit. ~anonnamus

This thread just reminded me that my grandma and her boyfriend used to split a tea bag every afternoon. First him, then her because he liked it darker. <3

When I cruise the food is free (girl math), so I don't care that my kid subsists off carbs and dessert the whole time!

Excuse me, we prioritize international travel in my family!
Easily the most grating comment I've ever heard on ML.

This is us. Especially with DD1 and everything related to germs/illness.

hey now, I’m cheap when I travel too. I only spent $400 on round trip tickets for 2 to Vienna this May.
Look at my thread on travel - lots of us are bringing snacks and coolers overseas!!!! When I check into my hotel in Dublin overlooking St. Stephen's Green I will be unwrapping a Costco chocolate nut bar while I plan our afternoon. LOL. But not kidding.

Good thing you can feed your family of 7 from a kids meal at the TGIF in Vienna!

Chilis has a special- 3 for me: burger with fries, drink, and chips with salsa or salad. It’s a good deal.
We only get pizza from Costco $9.99 for a large pizza or if there’s a special at papa John’s.
McDonald’s bundle all the way. 2 cheeseburgers, 20 nuggets, 2 fries for $15. We add a few things from the dollar menu and can feed a family of 4 for about $20.
Food is ridiculously expensive. We just don’t eat out much unless it’s the few places I listed above.

we don't have a dollar menu anymore at any of the mcdonalds near us! unless maybe it's an app only exclusive, which we don't have. All size drinks are 1.49, which is a pretty good deal
Not that we are tons of FF in the past but we’ve definitely cut down tremendously in the past few years.
I’m still salty at spending $125 at a BREAKFAST RESTAURANT last year Legit pancakes/bacon/eggs for 4 people. Breakfast is supposed to be the cheaper of the meals!!
I went out for breakfast with my bf Sunday and it was $50 for TWO of us!

We just got normal meals, and a drink.
Too much for a hangover breakfast!
Breakfast prices are the worst! I use to love to get breakfast on the weekend for a cheap eating out experience. Now it’s $55 every time DH and I go!
