DD had school pictures today and I didn't remember until I was pulling out of the driveway for work. She was dressed in her usual hoodie and sweats, and I just didn't have it in me to go back and have her wear something else. Why do we need fall AND spring pics anyway? She'll be the kid looking like a hot mess in the class pic, sorry other parents.
I'm sure she looked fabulous.
And if not, you can tease her at her high school graduation party.
H's family is weird, and I stopped getting upset at their weirdness long ago because they just are who they are and cannot be changed. That said, I had to put my foot down today when his dad and stepmom breezed into town with no notice (they live in an RV and are spending their retirement traveling the country--they knew they were coming weeks ago, and like always didn't tell us) and expected to have dinner at our house tonight.
It is a Wednesday night. I work. H works. Our kids have activities. My house is NOT guest ready, and if you can't bother to give us a heads-up that you're planning to come to town until the day you arrive I am not going to drop everything and frantically clean my house, go grocery shopping for two extra people, and whip up a home-cooked meal on your timetable.
We are going to a restaurant. I told H I couldn't care less which one, but under no circumstances was I going to lift a finger to make their lack of preparation my emergency.
My DS is invited to bday parties for various members of his preschool class on each of May 11, 18, 19, and June 1. June 1 happens to be DS's actual 5th bday.
IDK how other parents feel, but it seems like a lot to me, whew! Part of me doesn't want to pile on. Who wants a second, 2-party weekend, and a 5th preschool party within a month! OTOH, I don't want DS to be disappointed if he doesn't have his turn.
I don't want to do it June 1, in conflict with the friend's. June 2? Wait a week? WWYD? I think there's another child with another birthday pretty close after DS, too.
We were planning to steer him toward a low key backyard party. Last year we did make your own s'mores in the fire pit, and it went over pretty well. We live about 5 mins from their school, so the idea is that it would be a quick commute for most people (compared to, e.g., a few parties that have been 1/2 hour away). Maybe add real food and beer for parents to make up for yet another one?
I have started dreading seeing evites in my inbox, between my two kids!
I remember when my younger son was in Pre-K they'd divided up the classes based on birthdays before/after Christmas. It worked well except that we spent an entire semester going to nonstop birthday parties, and then at the end of the semester DS's party wasn't well attended because another mom scheduled her daughter's party for the same day and time as ours even though DS's invitations had already gone out. He's 13 now and I'm still salty about it, lol.
Are red bath towels weird? My BFF's son is graduating from HS, and going to a college whose colors are red, white, and gold. His situation is unique, but he will be in a dorm. I told BFF I wanted to get him towels (and will monogram them bc I do that - I'll also include a check for $20.24). She loved the towel idea, but said dark colors bc boy.
I'm leaning toward school colors - red or burgundy - unless those are weird, in which case I'll probably do dark gray. But I can't decide.
My college towels were red with one long one in an odd red, blue, white check pattern. My mother thought they would stand out /be unique in the laundry room. Hahaha they were. I had them for years and years and years. Never ran and never got lighter. But they were bought on sale at store known for really high quality towels (esp. back then).

I swam on my college's swim team, and our colors were red & white. We had red towels from Lands End, monogrammed with the team logo and our names. I had to be really really careful not to wash it with anything light because it did indeed run. YMMV, but I'm not sure I'd do red.
trissie18 Is Mum a Cremello? I'm dying! You probably know I'm a horse person! (Currently back to riding hunters for now. Jumpers the last few years.) The babies are soooo cute!! I hope they continue to do well.
15-20 minute rides. I'll raise you a 3 hour gravel ride with VO2max intervals in the middle of it............then again a Peloton class is not easy! If you ever take with Christine D'Ercole...I used to race on the velodrome Olympic style bike track racing with her in the mid 2010s==2015-2018 or so. She's a many many time USA Cycling Track National Masters Champion.

She is a registered Palomino but we are pretty sure she is actually a Cremello which makes for perfect Palomino babies every time we do this cross. We love our hunters here at the barn! I have a two year old from the same mare and stud that should be a top of the line large hunter pony.

She's gorgeous! I agree that she is most likely a Cremello, too. Congratulations on your babies!

I say go for it.
Red is my favorite color. My college towels were 'red'. Really a burnt orangey red. It was the closest my mom & I could find at the store we were buying my college stuff at.

I love my new job. However, I am perplexed about my teammates bladders. Maybe it’s because I’m old and all three of them are freshly out of college. They never leave there desk. I go pee at least 4-5 times while at work. I slowed down on my water intake today to avoid getting up a million times. Now I feel dehydrated and blah. Why do they never go pee!? I sit back to back to one and one in front of me. I can see them when they get up.
I just don’t want to be the only one getting up a gazillion times a day.

This is written in another language.
This reminds me of my brother when he post about car parts on FB. He is in a car group and it’s always confusing.
beerlover at one point I was debating if I needed to see a doctor. After talking with another friend over 40 she assured me I was fine. 😂
I will pee as many times as I need to without shame during the workday - I know too many older women who had to have that surgery to basically pin up their bladder and I say no thanks to that! Their time will come too LOL

That’s my new motto. As I just came back from pee break 2

Oh man add me to the thankfully I WFH with no one constantly monitoring me pee breaks. I'm even starting the "it's 6 PM I need to cut back on my liquids so I don't pee all night" phase...*sigh* I posted in Thursday randoms that I'm starting Spironlactone again and I hope I can tolerate it in the morning as I've heard it can make you have to pee more...awesome.
Although shouldn't the younger people have to go to the bathroom more with their fancy, giant water containers? Goodness I used to try to drink 2 Nalgene's a day in my 20's and would get sh!t from my manager that I auxed too many breaks for bathroom use. Sorry dude hydration plus getting away from my desk ftw!
regarding the pee thing - my body is wild. I drink a shit ton of water all day long and for some reason, I maybe have the need to pee once or twice at work but as soon as I get home, watch out. I'm peeing 10 times.
