Is it true that coconut oil gets rid of Keratosis Pilaris (tiny bumps on the back of upper arms and backs of thighs)? I know coconut has like a million and five uses, but was wondering if anyone has used it specifically for this purpose.
If you have tried this, did you just rub on the oil or use it in conjunction with some sort of loofah?
Amlactin lotion kinda worked for a while, but it eventually stopped working too. I'm interested to see what other people have had success with. Is been a long losing battle for me.
my mom swears by coconut oil for KP and got me using it. I've been using it daily (or almost so, at least 5 days/week) for the past month or so and I've seen 100% improvement in the KP on my arms, and somewhat of an improvement to the KP on my thighs. I exfoliate about 2x/week with St. Ives Apricot Scrub, nothing fancy there.
I was using Amlactin before the coconut oil and saw no improvement with that at all. plus it burned on freshly shaved skin.

i haven't tried the coconut oil but i have had amazing results w/ KP Duty.
It never has fully gone away. I use the scrub on dry skin before i shower and i feel like it makes a noticeable difference in one use and a crazy smoothness w/ reg use. I use the lotion and the scrub. not every day but if i skip too many days it starts to come back. I travel w/ that stuff. Cannot live without it.
*beats amlactin and st. ive's. i use to buy both of these and just tolerated the KP!
Nothing "gets rid" of KP, it happens because your body produces an excess of keratin and the only way it truly goes away is if your body stops producing that excess keratin. In most people it disappears by your mid 30's, sometimes earlier or later.
That being said, there are things that help diminish the red bumpy look. Lotions with lactic acid help a lot. Exfoliating a lot can actually make it look worse.
It makes a *huge* difference for me. I exfoliate with the St. Ives Apricot Scrub in the shower, then moisturize with coconut oil and my KP is almost entirely gone.
