It's very cute but I agree with Jenny, I don't see it as a work dress. Maaaaybe with a jacket and work-ish belt.
$46 is a great price though. I like the magenta better, but again, magenta chiffon for work? It's my choice for non-work wear though.
I wasn't crazy about the rust at first glance, but it could work with, say, a charcoal cardigan. And it would probably be more work appropriate than magenta.
ETA: We cross posted. After reading your update, I would go with magenta. And now I'm considering getting the navy and maybe the aqua for next spring.
I'm wearing the navy today and feel nice looking. I have a client lunch with one of my favorite hippies. She'll wear birkenstocks and a broom skirt, I'm pretty sure.
Thx for the feedback. This dress is also very forgiving, which I like.

Hold up.
You already have this dress in navy?
I change my answer.
PURCHASE FORBIDDEN.
:Y:
I like the dress & I work in more casual environment too, so the fabric doesn’t bother me as much. It’s the length that worries me. It’s from the junior’s section, so it can’t be all that long. Plus, if you’re 5’ 7”, it could get quite short, especially when sitting.

Can you PIP? I'd love to see it on. I bet the length makes a big difference.
I agree. It seems short on the model. I also hate this style on my body. The waist on your real waist and then poofing out a bit. Not good for me.
I’ve barely spent any money since last Thursday! I literally think I’ve only spent about $20 so far. And my work wardrobe is hurting. Confession - I rotate only between 3 pairs of slacks and 1 pair of jeans bc those are the only ones that fit without giving me a stomach ache from being so tight. And my other dresses are too tight bc I’m bigger. Am I trying to justify my spending problem. I am I guess. =(
That's awesome. So keep at it. I have the same problem with work clothes. I'm rotating between the only few that fit. But buying more right now isn't an option for me. Just mix up the tops, sweaters & blazers. I wouldn't keep buying more.
It sounds like you need more work stuff, but I wouldn't double up on the same dress. That style isn't so simple that people won't notice it's the same one in a different color.
Precisely.
jenny is a voice of reason, too!
farmer, you can do better. I understand you need more comfortable work clothes, but this is not the way to go.

that is a good point. If you have 7 work outfits are two are duplicates, that is going to look odd. I change my opinion - skip this and find something else. You can find other cute dresses for that price, or even less.
The dress is cute enough, but IMO it is not so fabulous or so perfect for work that you need it in two colors, especially when you are trying to save money.
If your work wardrobe is really in that bad of shape, I think you would be better off finding something more versatile that can do more double duty, like a nice skirt or another pair of pants.
I'm late to this thread but that dress is WAY too short. I also don't think it is all that flattering. You can definitely find something better!!
I'm a sucker for a sale and even though I know it, I always end up wishing I'd spent more money and gotten something better. I'm working on it. I also used to buy a lot of duplicates of things thinking if 1 is good, 2 is better. But it is not true, especially of something really recognizable like this dress.
This dress would never fly at my work. But then again I work for a ultra conservative company that didn't allow jeans on Friday's until about 6 months ago.
It's cute for maybe going out on the town or a wedding. It would not work for a tall person like myself though.
It's not too short on you. If it were as short on you as it is on the model, then it would be too short for work, but not too short for a going-out dress.
I really like that dress on you. You always make comments about needing to lose weight and needing to hide your belly, but I think you look great!
I'm an attorney and I'd wear that to work, but I work in a very casual office. I definitely don't think it's too short on you.
Old Navy has another dress that's kinda similar but has longer sleeves. I have it and really like it. I gravitate towards the same type of waist line on dresses because I think it's more flattering. I have it in red and feel like it runs TTS. oldnavy.gap.com/browse/product.do?pid=2505790124004&cid=73357&locale=en_US
I think the rust is more work appropriate, even in a more casual office - but I think the magenta would look better on you (and is cuter) - great for dinners!
All I know is that I clicked on this post hours ago and now I have an ad on Yahoo for this exact dress. Damn these smart ads! I didn't even like the dress much.
