I have to post again. I'm really irritated by that comment.
What the fuck?
She's only 27. He's only 28. They started dating at ages 18 and 19. They both went to Harvard, and she went to med school at UCSF. I'd wager that many, if not most, highly educated people wait until the completion of their studies to wed. I know I did.
Purely anecdotally, almost every single one of my friends waited until she was done with grad school, med school, or law school to get married. Those who did not were career changers.
You've really boggled my mind here.
When would you suggest they have gotten married? Two years in while in college? Five years in while in med school?
Eh, she wanted to wait until she got out of med school. Sometimes people have other priorities besides getting married.
I was going to say this as well. DH and I waited till we were done with school- since we knew that had to be the first priority to make sure our future was secure. Its hard enough to get married with all the pressure, I would hate to have gotten married, tried to start a carrier and be married at the same time. It was her time to be selfish, finish her degree up. After that, it would be considered "us as a couple" sorta moves. Its a smart move I feel.
I read the article in the link mrsbpo provided. What pisses me off is in the comments people were talking about her being fat! First - she's not. And second - Jesus Christ people she's a Harvard grad, a doctor and she has been entwined with FB since the beginning. Her SIZE is what people comment on?
Just goes to show that a woman can be highly accomplished but it all gets pushed aside if you aren't a Barbie doll. Where's my pissy face emoticon?
They do seem awkward next to each other and not smiling. The article said that it wasn't timed at all to FB going public since that was always changing. Nice coincidence though!
Goldn, I went back and read the comments too. Unbelievable that people think she's fat. What's that thing around her middle? Oh, wait, it's a WAISTLINE. She's hourglass with chest, waist, hips. And that makes her fat? sheesh.
you all are so nice with the, "she's so pretty," comments. or you have low standards...lol!
she's meh. i think they go well together.
aaaand, once again, I am reminded that women are their own worst enemies.
Totally agree with this. Some of the comments on this are disgusting and hurtful. Congrats to both of them, I hope they have a lifetime of happiness. I think they look adorable in the photo - they look happy and content, not cold at all.
OmG, what the hell do you people want? For them to be fawning all over each other? They dont look cold, awkward, or any of that other shit.
Theyve been together for 9 fucking years. They seem to be pretty mature and serious people.
Must you be a blushing bride to be happy?
I don't get the hate over what they look like. She looks beautiful and he just looks happy and proud. Good for them for sticking it out through everything. It couldn't have been easy.
They do not look "cold". She looks pretty and is not fat. It is totally reasonable for two smart people pursuing grad school are careers to wait until their late 20s to get married. Nothing about this seems odd to me.
This thread is super strange. I think it makes perfect sense that they wait until she graduates med school to be married. I also think it makes perfect sense not to release a super lovey dovey intimate picture on the Internet for news broadcast, I think they look great.
Seriously people, waiting to finish school and secure professional careers is winning and pretty smart in my book. Kudos to them for not being baby brides and rushing into marriage. Oh yeah and who cares what she looks like (I think she's cute!), she's fucking Mrs. Mark Zuckerberg AND she's so accomplished on her own. I love how she seems so normal and grounded when she is brilliant AND filthy rich.
For those that say they look cold, how about this picture?
I love her veil.
Aww this is a cute photo. I'm sure there are many great, fun and lovey-dovey wedding photos of them, but when releasing a public photo for news outlets and to be on FB, I think the one they chose is perfectly acceptable, and they both look nice.
I'm sick of the female body bashing.. (not here in particular, but in the article comments that were mentioned). She is not a model, she is not trying to be a model. Why we have to comment on her looks or her weight is beyond me. She is a normal person, and I think she looks great. Of course she's not drop-dead gorgeous, but I doubt most of us are!
