Wow, you totally look like a model! The red jacket looks much better and more professional/fitted on you than it did on the hanger, but I still don't think it looks polished because of the three-quarter sleeves, thick material, and patch pockets. The boucle one is much better all around -- it looks great, and the sleeve length is just right. Does it have or can you put in a hook and eye to keep it closed a few inches from the top? Maybe that wouldn't look right, but it might help if you think it looks too unstructured being open like that. Love the dress and necklace, very elegant. I thought the dress might have too much detail at the neck to wear under a blazer with the picture you posted earlier, but definitely not. The black makes it work.

Okay, I'll be the dissenter. While the boucle is definitely better than the red jacket, I still am not a fan. It kind of reminds me of a old lady cocktail party outfit and you are much too young and too pretty for that. You said that you could go buy the matching jacket for the dress, right? That would solve the matching issue and I think would look most put together. If that doesn't work, then the boucle jacket. The engineering guys won't notice anyone's outfit. They are clueless. I just thing you are too young for it.

I agree. It looks very nice on you (so does the red, for that matter) but I still don't think it's what you want for this situation. I don't think it looks old lady (it does look more mature than the red, but that's actually a good thing), but I agree that it's more cocktail party than business. I think you'll be better off with a standard business-suit style jacket. If you were dressing for the cocktail reception the night before the conference, or the dinner afterward, the boucle would be perfect.
What does the jacket that matches the dress look like? Does it also come in gray?
First off, what a cute little body you have...I thought you were taking pics of the outfits on mannequins at first, lol. Love the dress, I think it looks great. I'm meh on the grey jacket. It fits great, but I feel like the style is mature. If that's what you're looking for, then go for it. I know you want to appear authoritative, but you don't need to wear old lady clothes to do that. I also get not wanting to do black on black, but there are a ton of blazers out there right now that aren't traditional suit colors for women. I'm trying to think of what I would go with, but I'm having a hard time...I'll window shop for you

This is the jacket that matches the dress:
Same exact material as dress. Comes in black (this is navy in the pic) and a gray. I just think with the dress it may look stuffy.
Meh. Maybe I'll get my suit tailored. :-( Kinda wanted an excuse to buy something new.

I like the matching jacket. And it is definitely classic enough that you could wear it for a long time and mix and match with other outfits. Given the black on black, I think you could go a little more bold than pearls on the jewelry. Would that make you feel better about the outfit? Whatever you do you need to feel confident in what you wear.
